Still no issues and power/temps have been good too. I went with the 1T in my 15" and 512 in my 13". Both have been no problem upgrades.

Sorry to bother you but would like to test mine and understand if all is fine or not. Mine (MBP Retina 15 late 2013 - nvme Sabrent with adaptor) when I close the lid and reopen the Mac, it doesn't ask me for password so I think he don't go on sleep mode right?
Then, if I set "disable monitor after 1 minute - on battery" nothing happen.
Then, if I click on the apple in the upper left corner and click on stop, when I re enter on my Mac he never ask me for password.

I have t to think so that I will never use again hibernation right? :(

Not sure how to answer, other than I made sure my power settings were set and then closed the lid, let it sit over night and everything seems to be working fine, hibernate, sleep, etc...

Hi, new to this form and i been trying to get this to work on my mac book air mid 2013 using a wd_black sn750 ssd. I cant get my mac to read the ssd or for the ssd to show up at all. I know the ssd working because i check on my PC and it reads fine. I has trying reform matting the ssd, wiping it again and brought two of the adapters thing. But I has not been able to get it to read it. Is there anything else to try? Also triming is enable, has try to disable but unable to, any help would be appreciated
edit: wrote mid 2012 meant mid 2013 13-inch with version 10.15.6 Catalina

The mid 2012 Air does not use a NVMe drive. Only the mid-2013 Air and newer can use NVMe.

Looking for advice....mid 2015 15" Macbook Pro Retina; have installed a Corsair MP510 (1.9Tb) using the Sintech M2 adapter. Getting excellent performance and stability, until I close the laptop or let it sleep for a while, when it crashes. Although not specifically recommended for this model, I have disabled hibernation with no apparent difference in behaviour. I'm using Mojave with all the up to date patches; I don't particularly want to go to Catalina as I will lose some apps. Any wisdom out there?

Are you asked to enter your password when you open the lid?

Please let me know.

Thanks.
Initially no, but I had to go to Security & Privacy and change the require password to immediately on sleep or screensaver. I then closed the lid reopened and was then requested to enter my password. No panics or anything...

When you open the lid after the MacBook has been sleeping, do you see a progress bar go from left to right? If not, the MacBook hasn't entered a deep sleep state where it saves the ram contents and powers itself off AFAIK.

Hi, for my macbook pro late 2013 13”, i have bought sintech long adapter and Samsung 970 pro, when i try to install catalina it goes upto like 75% and shutdown. After shutdown shows up a kernal panic and macOS is not installed. What might be the issue here?

IMHO, the only way to make sure your Mac is waking up from a hibernation state is to play with some of the variables show when you type pmset -g command.

$ man pmset for more info...

Also, I've read somewhere that if you have something plugged in a USB port, deep sleep never happens.

To check whether your Mac can safely hibernate OR not, I would keep the Mac powered on AC, AND do:
$ pmset -g // Write the output so you can restore them later...
$ sudo pmset -a hibernatemode=25
$ sudo pmset -a standby=1
$ sudo pmset -a standbydelayhigh=300
$ sudo pmset -a standbydelaylow=300
$ sudo pmset -a autopoweroffdelay=300

Stay away from around 10 minutes and check it out...

Audit13: did I forget anything?

It looks fine to me.

It really depends on people's definition hibernation. For me, hibernation means writing the ram contents to a page file and powering off the machine.

And when i try to install catalina with APFS, when in click on the install catalina it gives an error saying the image is damaged. But when i format the SSD with mac journaled it can install catalina, but like i said before it goes upto 75% or something and shuts down. Shows a kernel panic after that. Please help!

Do you have a system log?

Is the 970 Pro running the latest firmware?

i checked samsung site, theres no firmware update for 970 pro, theres only 960 pro

The first post specifically says the 970 Pro is compatible as long as it is running the latest firmware. There were other posts in this thread about the 970 Pro no working properly until its firmware was updated.

It's been a long time since I had a Samsung drive but I recall using Samsung Magician software to check and update firmware. I'm not sure if the software is for Windows or Mac and Windows.

When it panics, do you see a a bunch of white text on a black background? Does the MacBook restart by itself after it panics?

The easiest way to see what's going on is to capture the first few lines of the panic screen where it says CPU Panic....

Its Detecting and can even install macOS, but upto 75% or so, after that mac shuts down. i dont think its a firmware issue, like said in the OP only firmware issue is when not detecting. it doesnt say anything about kernel panic or not fully installing macOS.

i need help to figure out what might be the issue with not install macOS. i have tried Mojave and catalina. still same issue.

It only shows a black screen with white texts saying system didnt shutdown well in 3-4 different languages. no error code or nothing is there.

Have you tried installing with a different internal drive or installing to an external drive just to make sure that the MacBook can install and run Catalina?

Yes i have tried with another SSD and still same issue, other SSD detects ok, can even format with Journaled and installs upto some percentage, and boom shuts down and gives Kernel panic.

Is the MacBook running the latest bootrom? Does it work with an original Apple SSD?

The fact that it does the same thing with another SSD leads me to believe the installer may be defective or there is something wrong with the MacBook.
