I really wouldn't have thought they would, as it then encourages what we are doing...lol..It’d really be great if Big Sur drivers enable power management and we could do away the need for nvmefix.

Hmm.... Well, I guess I could take it out and try the hair dryer and see if I can get the heat sink off... It's been running well though, so not sure I want to mess with it.. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.. right?..lol.Well there is a command line tools on windows to check exact controller. But i dont know whether something similar on macOS exist. The easiest way is indeed looking at the actual chip directly.
2TB is not really a fast moving model, so it mught still using component from old batch (which a good case here) , but cant really sure as well,
as far as i can tell, adata been using different nand on SX8200 pro (UNIC² instead of IMFT one) even back in 2019. But i never actually get a hold of one with SM2262G.

LOL... That being said... I took the back off and disconnected battery and removed SSD just to see if that would even think of coming off...nope. Put it back together and fired it back up, and internet mail, Messages, no network apps would work. I could ping my router and google. I was watching TV on my iPad but thought maybe my router got DNS messed up or something so I rebooted it. No change.. I manually set DNS to google. No change. I then opened Safari and saw a few non-https sites had their icon populated(I had also cleared out Safari cache). I opened a couple of those just fine but no https was working. I then noticed my date/time on top bar.. Somehow got reset to Dec 19... So Mac was thinking all certificates for mail were expired and nothing was connecting(or allowed to). Reset date/time and all is well. I've had this apart many times and never had that happen. I don't think this thing has a "CMOS" battery.. I guess this is a subject for another thread. Sorry..If you really gonna take it off, dont use hair dryer, just run a string or dental floss in between the heatsink and the chip.
But then, if it aint broke, dont fix it indeed. Hahaha
If that's the short Sintech adapter, it should work. Pretty sure I've seen others in here with same drive working.. Interesting.. I have the short adapter with the 2tb ADATA and it works great..So I just installed the following parts in my early 2015 13" macbook pro:
Sintech NGFF M.2 nVME SSD Adapter Card for Upgrade 2013-2015 Year Macs(Not Fit Early 2013 MacBook Pro)
Sabrent 512GB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive (SB-ROCKET-512)
When I boot up into recover, and go into disk utility, there's no internal drive found. Any idea what could be wrong? Everything seems to be physically installed correctly, unless there's some weird nuance I missed.
edit: Also doesn't show up in diskutil. I guess my next step is to make a bootable USB instead of trying internet recovery.
edit2: Running diskutil from the USB boot drive didn't work either..
edit3: Just gonna return this SSD and try a different one.

I got the long one first myself.. It worked with my ADATA, however, I couldn't screw the back on all the way without it pressing pretty hard down against the SSD. I didn't want it to stress it and have broken solder joints etc., so I got the short one.I don't know if the Sabrent has chips on both sides of its board, but the ADATA does. Makes a difference, at least on mine it did. Not sure why yours isn't working.. Maybe get a short one and see if that helps? It's not short:

NOTICE:because too many customers can use it,I suggest you to try it again if your MAC can't detect nVME SSD. Pls notice to insert card fully into SSD slot and you must prepare bootable USB disk(see third point) with High Sierra to format M.2 SSD first, it can't support recover from internet. mai...smile.amazon.com
Am I buying the wrong adapter? It fit correctly in the MBP.

Sadly, no such luck so far (Newest firmware, but running Catalina)I'm testing my 2015 model with the new firmware to see if it helps improve the overnight battery drain of 20-30% on these models...will know in a couple days.
But all of the fuss with the new firmware is that now when you close the lid, your mac can hibernate meaning 0% battery drain overnight.Sadly, no such luck so far (Newest firmware, but running Catalina)
~9% drain overnight with Bluetooth off (no change)
~20% drain overnight with Bluetooth on (no change)
I don't have BigSur installed on my internal drive at the moment, but may try it out in a few days when I have some time.
I have the latest version of catalina. I got a 2nd ssd to try, and it didn't work, so I'm assuming it's the adapter now. I have a short adapter arriving tomorrow.Oh, last question,
what version of of OS did you pick for your USB installer,
you need at least High Sierra
Is it worth it to buy a license of CCC? Are there other options or did you just went through the seas with a parrot in your shoulders to get it? Btw, if Big Sur solved the hibernation problem I'm gonna cry of joyThis is what I did to get the BootRom updated:
I cloned my internal NVMe to an external (USB) drive using CCC, boot in the external drive, joined apple's public beta, installed Big Sur in the external drive, booted back to Catalina (internal NVMe) to test hibernation.

I hope it will work, just bought SX8200Pro (older version) nvme drive and sintech adapter.Thats great to hear. This really bring hope for all NVME users who planned to upgrade to Big Sur in the future. Seems like it's firmware is doing great job for NVME drives
That's what I got for my 2015 MBA. Works great!I hope it will work, just bought SX8200Pro (older version) nvme drive and sintech adapter.

You don't need to use Big Sur for hibernate to work. I tested it with Catalina.
A few days ago I got the SM2262G version of the Adata XPG 8200pro 1TB. Here is the result from a Macbook Air mid 2013 i5. I don't know how it holds up against SM2262EN version. The older stock 128GB Apple SSD was reading around 300MB / 600MB (write/read). This Adata SSD was one of the cheapest 1TB m.2 sticks in my country so yeah, I think it's a worthwhile upgrade for me.

Yes, it writes on the controller. I didn't apply the heatsink btw.How could you tell which version? Is it on top of the chips? I covered mine with the heatsink that comes with it.. I've got the 2tb.

Yeah, otosan told me the 2tb I got wasn't one that gets ordered a lot so maybe I got the EN version.. I just tried taking off the heatsink again but I'm just so worried that 1, I'd bend it up so bad it wouldn't be reusable, and 2, I'd end up producing some cold solder joints making it unusable.. and I'm one that will go nuts not knowing now.. Oh well, at least it works and it was a 2X speed bump anyways, and a huge storage bump.. I guess I shouldn't worry too much about it.Most of the new stock seem to be 2262G (the one I tested a few months back was).
Ok, but I have 2014 MBPro 13, it seems to be working ok after new bootrom. That's what I got for my 2015 MBA. Works great!
