@BoPl

I highly suspect your case is more to do with the SSD. If memory serve me right, so far we don't have 2014 13-inch users posted yet. If you couldn't wait and have time, swap in the original AppleSSD and see if there is any crash.

@terrazoids

Could you try your luck with v0.1.1?

By golly....

@kvic, it works! Even on my old boot rom. So this time syslog shows that your kext is enabled. And indeed verifying with Istats shows immediate improvements. I'm going as low as .06A on the 660p with occasional forays into .15 and .40.

This is a brilliant result compared to how it was. I'll keep using it and let you know if anything pops up... but well done!

I have recently received an update for Catalina running on Macbook 11,1 (A1502, Late 2013) with Sabrent SSD.
It updated my firmware to version 429.0.0.0.0 which never happened before without an original SSD present.
Upon a quick check by dumping the new firmware with eficheck and inspecting it with UEFITool it appears that this one includes an uncompressed NVMe driver (judging by the size of the block). This means that no patching is necessary from now on.
It'd be great if someone else confirms this to be the case. I'll be checking if my system retains proper hibernation in the coming days.
Can confirm! I'm using a mid-2014 MacBook Pro 13". I've had the security patches as of recently and the bootrom indeed upgraded 429.0.0.0.0. I was about to make an amendment to my first post (where I state I'd keep you guys posted), but I've been testing for a week or two now, and it clearly fixes any hibernation issues!

what program is everyone using to be able to see the amperage that their SSD is using? I'm trying to figure out how many amps my SN550 is using but cant seem to find out how to do it.

Hello everyone. It was probably answered by now but I got lost on the forum so I'll just ask.

I have MBA 7,2 and I want to change storage. Are there any steps now that I'll have to do besides installation of clear MacOS? Cause I have 128gb storage and it's just programmes I need for my CS studies. I'm running Big Sur 11.1.

Also are there any updated power consumption charts? And what SSD would you recommend for mid2017 MBA?

@kvic, thank you! I can report it is working with mine as well. The 8200Pro is now idling at .12A.

Hi... does anyone solved the boot loop windows on boot camp?
For me the workaround doesn’t work... I tried Shift + F10 but nothing happen... even with an USB keyboard plugged on. After 3 or 4 restarts windows shows some options but none of them I have access... Windows show a message that I need administrator privilege and there is no administrator account created.
I have a MBA,13 Early 2014 and a NVME HP EX920.

See sig.. I have an early 2015 MBA with 2tb 8200pro. I'm wondering your setup when seeing .12a at idle. Is your power supply attached or is that with just battery running it? When I run with charger attached, mine is idling around .2a. When I disconnect charger, it goes down to 0.00a.

It is with the charger attached. I will spend some time with it unplugged and see if anything changes. As I am typing this running off the battery, it is still idling at .12A.

Ok.. I'm just wondering if it's a difference between MBA-MBP with iStat Menus.. Maybe I'll head over to the MBA forum and post as well for similar hardware setup. Thanks!

@xboxbml

you can simply treat 0.00A as unknown. it doesn't mean 0A. A detailed account from my experience available in post #7569.

Based on current user reports, I think your MBA + 2TB ADATA SX8200 PRO can drop idle power from .2A to .1A with ssdpmEnabler.

Details about power saving with ssdpmEnabler in post #7942

I highly suspect there is. On Macbook pro 11'5 I never see 0A readings on the ssd , and yet others here are posting accounts of that on their MBA's. Its possible the sensor systems are different between models. Also the specifications that the manufacturer give for various ssd power draws don't necessarily mean that thats what Istats will report even if your drive is working correctly.

After going through the past twenty pages of the thread, I just installed the 2TB Sabrent Rocket (SB-ROCKET-2TB) into my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) using the Sintech NGFF M.2 nVME SSD Adapter Card. While installing the nVME drive, I cleaned the interior of my MacBook Pro alongside applying new thermal paste to the CPU and GPU. I also started with a fresh install of Big Sur 11.1 (Boot ROM: 425.0.0.0.0).

After installing the .kext @kvic provided:

When idling, the SSD usually sits at 0.47A. I've seen some drops to as low as 0.07A, but it usually just stays at 0.47A. Even when I have apps open, such as Safari and Spotify, alongside downloading and installing other apps, it sticks to 0.47A. Never increases, but does have moments where it drops.

When I ran AmorphousDiskMark, the highest it went was 0.72A with it averaging at 0.55A.

Is there anything else I should / need to be doing to ensure proper power consumption?

What results do you get when you don't have the kext installed?

I think I may have solved the issue because I'm an idiot.

I reset the PRAM and followed it up with a reset of the SMC. I'm now idling at 0.19A-0.22A.

It looks like that resolved power consumption all across the board.

0.53A. The kext brought it down from 0.53A to 0.46/0.47A.
I have the same mac, Big Sur 11.1, but I’m on an older boot rom than you, also I don’t have any experience with your ssd. It might just be that thats the best you’re going to get out of Sabrent.

I’m going to upgrade my bootrom and retest. I’ll post if the kext performs similarly for me or worse.

i highly doubt it, sabrent rocket 1TB, even better results with BigSur 11.2 (beta).

Hello everybody, merry christmas!
I've just got an early christmas present, Sabrent Rocket 1TB with phison e12s controller.
My current setup was Sabrent Rocket 512 GB with Phison E12 and macOS Catalina + NVMeFix installed - everything worked as charm and battery was awesome.
So I decided to make an upgrade and also install new macOS Big Sur 11.1.
After clean install of macOS Big Sur (Apple SSD), my bootroom got upgraded to 425.0.0.0.0 (Macbook Pro 15 Mid 2015). Then I've tried to install Lilu with NVMeFix kexts via Hackintool (SIP disabled), but have no luck :(. My system got stuck on restart loop and only solution was do PRAM reset (enable SIP) and then system boots normal.
So my question is:
Is there anybody that have successfully installed Lilu and NVMeFix on macOS Big Sur 11.1?
Thank you!

Nvmefix and Lilu kext needs to be updated for macOS Big Sur compatibility.

No luck for me either on Big Sur but I didn’t try that hard since it wasn’t doing anything for me when I was on Catalina anyway (ADATA SX8200Pro).

These are my results (since Catalina). Now I am running Big Sur 11.1 with BootRom 429.0.0.0 on a Macbook Pro 15" mid-2014 + Silicon Power A80 (Phison E12) 1Tb. The minimum is at 0.16A. I don't use any kext.
