So I share account with my friend and he is the primary account. Do I need to bring him with me if I paid for everything? How do I authorize myself?

Yup, my Apple watch was a knocking wanting me to transfer lol
Now I have a question...... Everything is now transferred but new phone says iPhone is not Activated Contact your carrier if if this problem continues.

Should I take out mmy old sim card and place in the new phone? Or just call Verizon and wait on hold forever?
Old sim to new phone. Works every time.

I have lurked from time to time, and now, a first time poster as well. As others have mentioned, I have enjoyed following along with the variety of posts and more. A funny and entertaining crowd.

This was my first time pre-ordering an iPhone - I am replacing an iPhone 6, and it was time to upgrade, so I chose the 13 Pro Max in Sierra Blue (512GB). Everything in the process went smoothly, for the most part. There were anxious moments wondering whether or not I would see my phone leave China, arrive in Alaska, then Kentucky, and eventually home. But each step was accomplished and my phone was delivered today by a very busy UPS dude. He was pleasant and understood what was going on - clearly, not his first phone delivery of the day. Even asked for my signature. And yeah, I was pleased he was "early" - I was expecting the usual late arrival, by 6PM or later. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to see him before 1PM.

I have had fun setting up the phone, taking hints and tips from various sources. Setting up eSIM was easy (TMobile/Sprint) and ensuring I updated the iOS before restoring by iPhone 6 backup was useful. Everything is where I expected it to be. Now, I just have to get familiar with using this new toy.

It's been a great experience so far - good luck to everyone with their new toy(s), and for those still waiting, I hope it's a very short wait :)

Happy Launch Day everyone! My iPhone 13 pro max sierra blue came and she’s so pretty. I’m not really a blue person but I took a chance and she’s lovely. I added a sparkly star case and made her mine. And for the record despite my girly touch, my husband also got the blue and he loves it too. He added a navy case and it’s just as nice. I would say it’s a very casual blue and works well for all! Anyway, Hope you all have a great weekend!

Well as you opening day folks get your deliveries and have fun as one of the 5 past hour folks that did not get delivery day but the dreaded 10/6 to 10/11 delivery week just hour ago finally made movement from the preparing order to the preparing to ship status so phone obviously is now build and moving around to UPS from factory soon or not. Of course the track by reference is not down for UPS (all you folks hitting it LOL) but I think I may at least get it before that window if it moves this weekend maybe week early we shall see.

So, you just took your SIM from your 12PM and inserted into your 13? I've never done it this way before, as I've always just used the SIM that the new phone came with. So, if I use the old SIM, do I still need to turn off iCloud, Find My iPhone, etc, like I normally would?
What Shadowbech said plus…

Since there was the issue with Apple Music, I set the 13PM up as new and updated it to the latest iOS 15. Then I erased the settings.

Turned off Find My on the 12PM and signed out, erased the settings, powered off then removed the 5G SIM. Put that into the 13PM. Powered on and I didn’t even need to activate, it worked.

I restored from the backup of the 12PM I made earlier. Took a while to complete, but all works. I’ve been getting calls and making them, no problem with data.

We’re still on the road, left late so I’m only on cellular now.

Since I buy sim-free models, I always insert the SIM card I have from previous models. With the exception of 12 since it's 5G, I needed a 5G sim so I ordered a SIM card from Verizon to be activated. I used that SIM card to activate my 13 Pro max no issues.

Currently doing the data migration and it seems like the activation process was smooth, I'm seeing cellular on my new one now. It did the activation during the data migration process, so that was nice. I was surprised I didn't have to turn off my old one to activate the new one.
How did you do the data migration? I have a new SIM card for mine. Just trying to do it right the 1st time. Thanks for any help.
