These campaigns aren't going to be effective.
Really? I'm not sure which high-powered ad firm you work for, but that commercial did everything right. Yes, I'm an iPhone owner, and yes, I love it.blah blah blah something something

Seriously, CDMA? Talk about limited coverage...

iPhone Does
I don't want the iPhone to be an Android phone or a Blackberry, if I wanted an Android phone or a Blackberry I'd buy one.
Can the iPhone be improve I'm sure as it has been done since Apple entered the cell phone industry just over 3 years ago. The iPhone will be improved but I'm sure it won't be improved by getting rid of what makes it the iPhone and copying the stuff from every other phone. It will never have a keyboard.

Who cares?
What good is my iPhone when I keep seeing threads telling me to not take it overseas because I'll get charged a million dollars for using it?
If "buy a local phone when you get there" is the advice for my iPhone, why should I care that I'd have to do the same for a Verizon phone?
Did you think about the traveling business men? I know a lot of these men dont leave the US but some do. Which makes the point stand.lol, how many people in the US do you think travel outside the country frequently? or infrequently? or ever?
your point really doesn't stand up at all.
Verizon's shooting themselves in the foot here, there's no way, even with a new network standard, that apple would give them the iphone now that they have this new campaign.
Problem with that is people are seriously impressed with what the iPhone does and how it does them.
Lets see some real competitors come out!
Then iPhone 4G will have to be GREAT!
I think this ad would work well for Verizon if they actually centered a little more on what they mean by the "iDon't". Now WE know what they mean here at MR and other tech sites, but what about those who are looking for a new smartphone. They are greeted with an ad that says "iDon't......blah blah blah" and then see "Droid Does" and it ends. What do they really gain? I think they need to explain more of what product they're going after.

really? and what did it do right? Fail to show its own product? Spend 2/3 of its time with the viewer's attention only on the competitor?
Again I'll say, terrible ad. Tells you nothing about what it's trying to sell, doesn't grab your attention, boring, etc.
Obviously, Verizon and Apple are not forming a business relationship. Instead, Verizon is taking the approach of pushing the alternatives and claiming they are better. Also it's clear Verizon still does not want to carry a handset that will overshadow them.
On ATT's website, they advertise the HTC Fuze as "the ultimate smartphone".
Does that mean ATT doesn't think much of the iPhone? Of course not. It's just advertising.
In Verizon's case, it's similar to the way that Jobs always slams anything that Apple doesn't have, but then flips 180 degrees when they do get it.
Reminds me a bit of the Cloverfield movie ads.
