But, but benchmarks don't matter right? Or is that only they case when your device benchmarks way slower than the competition? You see how the trollling thing works both ways? :)

Real World use matters...and you know that. Most people don't give a care about benchmarks. The average person next door knows nothing about benchmarks.

That's why battery tests are mostly invalid. They're almost all testing entirely with the screen on. If, in a day, you get 4-5 hour screen on time, that means the only 12 hours are with the screen off. As a result, some 75% of your day is spent in standby.

what salt? the iPhone x is a better phone than the note 8 FOR MY NEEDS.

Won't even click that link. Could really care less if it's faster or not. Doesn't matter. It runs TW and not IOS ands as great as the note 8 is people who buy iPhones could care less if it's faster or not. more will want want the x than the note 8. Samsung haven't even sold 1 million units so clearly it's for a certain market.

Speak for yourself. Speed is one of Apples biggest selling points, and a ton of iPhone consumers gloat that they have the fastest phone. If it wasn't for so much gloating about how fast the iPhone is over other phones, I doubt the OP would have made this thread.

iPhone is still very fast. Speed is not an issue.

Any issues down to speed is more down to IOS 11 than the chip inside the iPhone. There is clearly an issue with certain apps not being optimised for the x and that could be effecting speed.

With History of Samsung devices slowing down over time I’m pretty sure that will not happen with the x

Time will tell.

And btw no people aren’t buying the x and doing so because of what the note 8 does. Most could care less what other android phones do in comparison

It's a software issue. 7 Plus was running circles around all phones with iOS 10. Please use logic for once.

Really? For once? You have posted 31 messages. Apple chips are probably the best all around, but the current state of Android is very, very good. Nougat and Oreo might be the releases that have finally pushed Android ahead of Apple on the software side.

What we have learned from Google since the Pixel is fairly straightforward: They believe they will win with software and services, and this year they have been mostly correct.

Nobody is claiming the iPhone X is slow. But there is a clear competition, and consumers are involved in that, cause if they are told by the manufacturer "their phone is the fastest", consumers don't want to spend that much money just to find out another phone proves it wrong.

Yes, we can all be mature and civilized about something as non-important as electronic products. But that's not reality. The reality is consumers feel better when their product's manufacturer claims are completely true, and feel worst about a purchase when it's shown it's not. If the video showed the other way around, the Note 8 would get slammed by the same iPhone X users saying that it doesn't matter.

That's just how it is and how it will always be.

It's down to iOS 11 not being as optimised as 10.3.3 was for example and the fact that Apple uses much longer and more fluid animation that just have certain length (for example opneplus which has no animation basically). You can't objectively compare anything tis way.

Genuinely curious. What "needs" does the iPhone meet that the Note 8 does not?

I don't think thats true, most apple fans could care less if the iPhone destroyed the note 8 in a speed test as these speed tests aren't real world usage.

People buy phones for real world usage.

What that video tells you is the comp is very good and speed wise the top android phones can challenge the iPhone. Should we not expect the comp to step it up? they had to and they have.

Fact is the average user who buy's an iPhone doesn't care about speed tests

simple

software updates
support
ecosystem (which is huge for most apple fans)

note 8 can not compete with apple in these areas.

Note 8 is a great phone but doesn't work like an iPhone does with multiple devices and over time.

What exactly are they winning?
increased use of software and services. Not to mention, even despite hardware issues this generation, the Pixel line continues to be a strong contender in a tough Android market.

They'll never quite catch Apple, but they are making better and better devices with the aid of a stellar operating system.

Um no ... that's not my experience at all. I've been noticing a decline in iOS performance and reliability since the 6S+. And my 7+(which I still have) has never performed as good as the 6S+.

Your post made zero sense

Why would it cripple my iPhone exactly?

in 12 months time I will be upgrading to the likely x plus with my annual upgrade just like millions and millions of others will.

Where is the actual answer?

Hasn't Apple oscillated between TSMC and Samsung chips, too? I'm not sure I can pinpoint why iOS 11 has fallen so behind in performance. Two years ago, Android didn't really outperform iOS in anything. Now there are android devices with better screens, with higher performance metrics, all while having a longer lasting battery.
