Have you been living under a rock the last 10 years. Do you remember iOS 10.0 and then what difference it made when Apple switched to APFS and other things?

Every year it's like that, but please use max setting on the ignorance.
dude.....you contradicted yourself.....your own words..... go back and read them again. No need to be insulting.....

I have had every iPhone released.....and every major update slows the older models down......
It is just the way it is......

Well lets wait for iOS 11.3 then compare.

P.S. For someone who claims to have owned "every iPhone release" you sound like a partially blind.

That's something I will never understand. IOS 11.3 is needed to compare to iOS 10.3? Why? Shouldn't Apple be able to improve their software every year in terms of performance? Why are we okay with that not being true?

I didn't say i'm OK with that, i'm just saying how it is now. I also want to know why it takes 2-3 .x release to get back to that level of optimisation and bug fix level.

If iOS takes a good portion of a year to get optimized, let's not talk about how well optimized iOS is.

Stick to the facts...no need to be insulting just because I caught you contradicting yourself. It is plain for everyone to see... So if i disagree with you then i'm blind? Nice way to debate the facts....

I wonder what they both look like at full brightness with true tone off.

The optimization of Samsung's skin on Android 7.1.1-7.1.2 is excellent. Having 6GB RAM helps. The PhoneBuff video when Note8 defeated the iPhone 8 Plus was no fluke.

I'm watching the entire video of SuperSaf's comparison between the Note8 and X. When 8 Plus lost to iPhone 7 Plus, it was no fluke. The still camera for the front is bad in low light.

Usually when we watch these YouTube videos, if you want to see iPhone win in something you watch PhoneBuff's speed test. If you want to watch Samsung or Google beat Apple, you watch SuperSaf.

I like iPhone's video recording capabilities. Obviously, they offer Final Cut Pro for $300 and iMovie. Many YouTubers use them to film and edit. But it is pretty clear the still photos from the iPhone hasn't been the best the last few years.

Google Pixel 2 XL massacred the iPhone 8 Plus last out on SuperSaf and X generally has the same quality.

simple

software updates
support
ecosystem (which is huge for most apple fans)

note 8 can not compete with apple in these areas.

Note 8 is a great phone but doesn't work like an iPhone does with multiple devices and over time.

Really? My Note8 works well with my Dell laptop and other laptops, I just plug in and boom I'm good to go, same with multiple wearables from different brands, heck it even allowse to pay with Samsung Pay even when there's no Tap function.

Tell me how it's doesn't work with multiple devices again?

I've had my Note8 connected to all kinds of devices via Bluetooth and WiFi Direct, not just Samsung products but products that were built long before it.

you're welcome :) I think too much these days are made of speed tests and people using it in arguments of why which is better but at the end of the day these top flagships work so well it's what fits your needs.

iF I was to run with two phones it would be the x and the note 8. Both great devices.

The 8 plus is a great device also that gets updates and the support is there too. Has wireless charging and fast charging which are welcome upgrades.

I think it's fair to say android devices has been ahead of apple for years but now apart from home screen I think feature wise they are on a level playing field.

OLED
wireless charging
fast charging

are great features to have on a device and I'm just glad it's the route apple has finally begin to take.

Depends on the Android device. The Note 8 is still ahead in terms of software features, the S-Pen, and other hardware. I think the iPhone X is ahead of the LG G6. In terms of balance between good hardware and software, the X and Google Pixel 2 take the cake. The Snapdragon Note 8 is still behind the Exynos one, especially the fully factory unlocked Exynos one.

Thanks.

And the X has a warmer screen than my eyes like. That's not good....

I hated the yellow hue with TrueTone when I tried out the X. I am turning that feature off if I get the X. It might be somewhat better on the LCD 8+.

You can already see what it looks like and judge whether or not you like the screen. It is still more yellow tinted than a Pixel XL2.

Where did I say it doesn't work period? it just doesn't work like apple products do and it's not even close.

you won't get other products as good of a quality as you will get with the

iPad Pro
macbook pro
apple watch
apple TV
air pods/beats

nothing compares when it comes to syncing these devices with each other.

The gear is a very good smart watch but app selection is poor in comparison to the Apple Watch and android tablets just aren't good enough compared to the iPad. Samsung is the only one who seem to make an effort when it comes to tablets.

I think everyone is missing the point of this thread. To me it is refuting all the continual bashing that Samsung gets from the "its bloated and laggy" crowd. No one is going to notice the performance differences between the X and the Note 8. But that means the Note 8 is up to the level of Apple's fastest "bionic" CPU.

Dominating in area of phones that will never receive an update?

You seriously think the Note 8 is never going to get an update?

Thanks for the honest response. I too was on the fence about the iPhone 8 plus vs the Note 8. I ended up with the 8 plus. Just last night I was in bed with my laptop and the phone rang in the other room. Answered it on my laptop. Eco system is pretty cool.

I've literally never needed to do that so wouldn't be a feature that would sway my phone choice. If you own everything Apple, they do work well together... until they don't. But I've found the heterogeneous approach is really closing the gap on all Apple, and you get so much more choice.

Where did I say it doesn't work period? it just doesn't work like apple products do and it's not even close.

Yeh, you will find other products that compare well with the ones you listed.
