Brand new Mac Pro... 16 core 96gb w5700x blah blah... dam thing freezes daily. I just got it this week. Tried disabling sleep, to see how it helps... I assume it's related to the w5700?
Mine freezes sometimes. Yesterday I had my second kernel panic. Just totally ceased up and eventual shutdown.

mine can skew no worries and 98% of the time no issues. Even with my LaCie 2big external raid plugged in.And that either stays connected or turns off and then back on when out ofsleep. Every now and a again I come to waking it up and the disk has unexpectedly ejected. And I have the notification. It’s hit and miss.

The Thunderbolt Accessory Firmware Update is for the Thunderbolt/USB-C controllers inside the W5700X. Mine updated from 49.04 to 55.02.

You can see the status of the last firmware updater run by running /usr/libexec/FirmwareUpdateLauncher -r. (Append -v to produce more verbose output.)

It appears to set some nvram variables that run an updater EFI executable at the next boot.

Is there a way to force it to run again? My card is still on the old firmware and the FirmwareUpdateLauncher shows three failures and zero successes.

Disabling sleep has fixed my freezing issue so far.

I just posted a video, showing that the W5700X has not improved my workflow (yet) and does not appear to provide expected HEVC processing improvements...

I dont think using the 3 cards at the same time is beneficial, specially since one of them is another architecture, try to do the same things but only with the W5700X and on the BETA 4 of 10.15.5

I was a little reserved but ordered a W5700X on May 6. It shipped today with a May 12 delivery date.

That's quicker than what the website said, right? I just ordered one yesterday... and at the time it said it would ship in 5-7 business days and arrive on the 21st at the earliest. Instead, I woke up this morning to a shipping notification with a delivery date of May 13... eight days earlier than expected.

Yes, they seem to be arriving earlier or dispatching earlier.

UPS did a boo boo and my package got stranded for a few days, and customs wanted to inspect it, so mine's due for delivery Monday next week. It would have been today, but it's a bank holiday here today.

Originally it said May 22 so I choose the faster shipping.
I hope 10.15.5 gets released very soon.

I just tested this, trying to stress the cards more by feeding 21 10bit 4K streams (still running in 10.15.4). Works better:

You don't say if you are running the Afterburner Card; but say you are using ProRes.
Can you make a signature that lists all your computer features.

I run a 16 core machine without AB; editing via three internal fast SSD scratch disks (added in Raid0); ram slots are all filled with 32Gb sticks

So I got my card today and it continues to ask to apply the thunderbolt update.
Been through to three times and all thunderbolt buses are at 49.4.

I am feeding an Asus PA329Q 4K monitor through on of 5700 ports.

Thoughts?

Let us know how it goes. Also wondering how the Asus PA329Q is with the new Mac Pro ? I'll be shopping soon for a monitor for photo and video editing.

Reinstalling 10.15.4 supp. package updated the 5700 thunderbolt properly.
The PA329Q monitor has been a good performer with the 7,1 since February.

The macOS Combo Update fixed my Thunderbolt update message and I'm now on the latest version. We'll see if there are any noticeable improvements, after my Mac Pro shutdown when I tried to wake it from sleep.

I have three monitors running off the 5700 card... two LG 5K's and one XDR display.

I see the problem, in your signature—you're running High Sierra on a 2019 MP! :D

Still no graphics driver fixes in 10.15.5 release, so graphics driver bugs affecting Navi10/14 (wake from kernel panics, FCPX crashes, graphic glitching) and Vega20 aka Radeon VII and Pro Vega II (FCPX crashes, graphic glitching) still not fixed. Just as a reminder:
  • Navi10/14 drivers remained without any significant bug fixing since they have been introduced in October 2019, so more than half a year now. Wake from sleep panic issues have been reported to Apple from day one. Yet they released the MBP16 without fixing the problem - of course it is affected as well. Then they released the W5700X for the Mac Pro - of course it is affected as well. Apple just doesn't care at all.
  • Vega20 drivers are ****ed up since 10.15.4 Beta 1. Issues have been reported to Apple ever since then. No reaction nor fix from them.

Here is a bug report template for anyone wanting to report the Navi / RDNA wake from sleep crashes:
Issue:
Ever since Navi/RDNA support in macOS started there are issues with freezing UI followed by a kernel panic after waking from sleep. This happens with all Navi10 and Navi14 GPUs. In my case I reproduce it with {YOUR PRODUCT}. MacBook Pro 16" is affected as well. Also Mac Pro with Radeon Pro W5700X is affected. The issue has been reported since day one of Navi support yet Apple never did something about it. This starts to become hilarious. The only improvement regarding the issue is that since 10.15.4 it doesn't happen with every sleep / wake cycle but randomly now. Issue has still not been fixed in 10.15.5.

How the issue looks:
After waking from sleep and running a process using hardware accelerated video decoding / encoding, the UI will freeze for a couple of seconds, then starts working again, then freezes again, and so on. The mouse can still be moved but the UI is non-responsive. Eventually, after waiting for long enough, a kernel panic occurs and the machine reboots.

How to reproduce:
1. Use any Navi10 or Navi14 graphics card inside a Mac Pro 2019, eGPU case or use a MacBook Pro 16.
2. Open Video Proc or any other app utilizing hardware video acceleration (e.g. Safari playing Youtube, exporting with FCPX / iMovie).
3. Run the video acceleration test in Video Proc, start playing a H.264 / H.265 video in Safari or export a H.264 / H.265 file from FCPX / iMovie.
4. Put the machine to sleep.
5. Wake it again and re-test video acceleration.
6. If machine doesn't freeze, repeat the cycle from step 4.
7. Repeat this until the UI starts freezing / video acceleration stops working.
8. Eventually the machine will kernel panic after several minutes.

Affected products:
- Any MacBook Pro 16"
- Any Mac Pro with aftermarket Navi10 or Navi14 GPU
- Any Mac Pro with Radeon Pro W5700X
- Any Mac with a Navi10 or Navi14 GPU attached via Thunderbolt
- Any Hackintosh with a Navi10 or Navi14 GPU

Issue present since:
- 10.15.1 Beta 2 - introduction of Navi / RDNA support (issue triggered with EVERY sleep / wake cycle)
- 10.15.2
- 10.15.3
- 10.15.4 (from here on issue not appearing with every sleep / wake cycle but randomly instead)
- 10.15.5 (kernel panic not guaranteed to happen anymore, but the UI freezes are still an issue and video acceleration stops working when freezes do happen)

Maybe it will put some pressure on Apple if more people start to complain through their feedback assistant.

FCPX; I have also returned the AB as well since it does not speed up my work flow (I wil post a test results video on that as well)
