Why has this thread gone onto a sudden tangent about other cards? Can we keep it solely for the W5700X? The comments about the 580x and the others are totally irrelevant to the post.
Hey hey! The W5700X I ordered on the 15th just arrived on my doorstep!
I need to wait a bit for it to acclimate before I install it.
Slightly worried what real world impact this will have. If I’m using this and have a video playing which often happens. I can’t afford my performance to be impacted because of that.
Again not about comparisons. More the I have this card and it has all of these issues. Ie not the card the thread is about. Nevermind.Comparative GPU performance and driver issues are totally relevant. Otherwise what are people going to write about? "Comes in a nice box."? Gauging the W5700X's performance/value proposition is surely what this thread is about.
Great. How about adding the specs for the 7.1 in your signature...Mine has shipped. US.
You have the basics, plus I’m using a 1TB NVME boot drive (not the Apple one). However, none of that I think is important. Further testing indicates the performance degradation occurs for the Metal test, even without Safari running, sometimes immediately, and sometimes after a few runs. The OpenCL test on the other hand seems pretty stable. As I mentioned, putting the system to sleep or rebooting it corrects the issue... for a time. All this points to software/firmware issues.Weird, I hope my new system with the W5700X doesn't exhibit the weird performance instability issues you're seeing Thomas.
What're your full system specs? You're running the 12 core with only 32GB of RAM, forcing the machine into 4 channel mode with a 12 Core CPU meant to run 6, at the 2933Mhz. Could it be your overall setup causing performance dips?
I’m surprised there are not more people posting here who have received it. You can’t be the only macrumors user in the world to get one. Seems odd no one else had posted anything at all.You have the basics, plus I’m using a 1TB NVME boot drive (not the Apple one). However, none of that I think is important. What we need are some other benchmarks to compare stability.

Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow evening so I’ll post results tomorrow.I was about to mention the same thing. It could be a GB issue, but I don’t know about any other Metal based benchmark that could verify that thought.
Yep UPS makes it happen. Quick fuel stop in Anchorage next onto World Port. Once it gets unloaded it takes world port about 15 minutes to sort it and get your shipment to the correct container to be loaded onto the next flight.Yes! On the West Coast, as close to China as I can get (short of Hawaii ). For the record, shipment details are:
2020/04/22 China Label Created
2020/04/22 Shanghai, China Shipped
2020/04/23 Incheon, Korea Arrived/Departed
2020/04/23 Anchorage, AK Arrived/Departed
2020/04/24 Louisville, KY Arrived/Departed
> Oakland, CA Arrived/Departed
> Sunnyvale, CA Arrived/Out for delivery
So let me tell you, that package *booked* across the Pacific! Once it hit the US, it took one *day* to fly around the country to my doorstep. Pretty impressive.
Mine got into World Port this morning. There's no scheduled delivery date right because there an exception in China regarding transit. I'm near Cleveland so it's not too far from Louisville. Heck they could put it on a truck if sorted in time and get it up here for delivery tomorrow.Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow evening so I’ll post results tomorrow.
Performance is generally fine, but if I have Hearthstone running at the same time as Safari, Hearthstone's usually super-smooth animation gets jittery. I've also had complete machine crashes too, with graphically intensive processes.
Same here for Germany. Shipment info received April 23rd in DHL center in Netherlands, estimated delivery April 30th. No DHL tracking yet...We (Uk) customers only get tracking info once the order is received into the European centre (Netherlands) for now it just says waiting. But mine dispatched on the 22nd says deliver by 29th. Hoping it’ll be earlier.

I did. My apologies. I should have mentioned that originally. Quite frankly I’d forgotten about it. It was just 8 bucks. When I saw that, I thought, “Pfht! 8 bucks is nothing when you’ve just spent a thousand on the new card!” So just for grins I purchased the expedited shipping. I guess it really did make a difference! Those in the US that already received their cards or have gotten a shipment notification - did you guys pay for the expedited shipping?
