That's exactly what Apple advertised as 'coming soon': DUO.
Sorry, not to pile on—a search reveals that many sites claim Apple annnounced a "W5700X duo", and I suppose that's where you remember it. But I know from regular checks on the Apple Store, waiting for the '57' that Apple never said "duo". And I found a screen shot here in the forums that backs that up ("Two Radeon Pro W5700X..."):

Anyone ordered the standalone W5700X MPX model in the US? I placed an order shortly after it was available and my shipping date is April 30-May 4.

I just pulled the trigger. Need it to hopefully run all my monitors...

XDR, LG 5K, 2 LG 4K Ultrafines.

I pulled the trigger, until Adobe decider to utilise CPU/GPU more than it does it's a meh. I had 2 d700's in the 6,1 and nothing ever unitised that so this should offer more than that anyway. Maybe I'll move to the Vega ii at some point who knows.

Would love to hear some feedback about this card. I have a 5700XT but it plays up in Catalina. Very odd behaviour, so I keep reverting back to an RX580 to drive my old Apple monitor. Would be using the W5700X in C4D, Octane etc.

“Plays up” is a bit vague. But I’m seeing reports of eGPU users with the 5700XT that the 10.15.5 Beta has improved Navi drivers.

Depending on how the 5700XT is playing up, the drivers might be all you need. The W5700 and W5700X are really workstation versions of what you already have, and will also be affected by the Navi driver issues.

Otherwise, we have to wait for the cards to become available which is still at least a week out at this point.

Sorry it's a bit vague, I've had odd crashes and graphical glitches. Nothing really deal-breaking, but annoying enough that I prefer to use the older, more reliable GPU. I really hope 10.15.5 sorts it out – in which case I can save £1,000!

^^^^I've had my Aorus RX5700XT for more than two months now. No crashes for me. However, I did have some graphical issues when it was teamed with the LG 24UD58-B 4K monitor. I returned that monitor for a lot of reasons and replaced it with the LG 24MD4KL-B UltraFine 4K monitor. That monitor has not shown any issues. The only issue I now have is the UltraFine only has BT or USB 3 video input. I am running it with a Bidirectional USB C to DisplayPort cable and have no boot screen. With DP to DP I had a boot screen. It's puzzling?

I've got a 5600XT eGPU and I have not had any issues and crashes so far. I don't know if the drivers are as optimized as they could be - but I'm saturating the GPU in Adobe Premiere and Media Encoder.

At least yours is on its way to you. Mine still showing ‘Processing’ and I ordered within the first few minutes of it being available as a stand-alone item (I’m in Australia).

Estimated delivery still showing as between 27 and 30 April. I’ll believe it when I see it based on my recent experience with Apple orders.

You guys in North America? From what I gather, only Mac Pro's destined for the US or Canada are assembled and shipped from Texas.

Mine's coming finally ... estimated April 28th delivery; Pro Display should be here 1 day later unfortunately!

That is correct, but thats just assembly. The MPX modules and primary components still come from China. I guess those ordering the MPX modules are getting their units essentially "drop shipped" from the factories in China.

I ordered within seconds of the being available (I was literally refreshing the standalone page when it was greyed out to becoming available for sale) and mine is still stuck in processing. Really jealous of those who already have their shipped.

Are you in North America? I'm in the same boat and did the same thing when I was waiting to order mine (I'm in Australia).

Sounds odd I ordered mine several hours get it went on sale, and it's dispatched to the UK. Maybe it depends where it's going?

"Macrumor-Forum-guys" are you able to help me on this one?

I am currently using one 580X (the one that came with my 2019 Mac Pro) to run one LG 5k2k screen, one 4k television and one regular HD (1920x1080) computer screen. I do not run any video editing software, but work in audio production with ProTools. I've noticed some sluggish-nesh on the performance on the main 5k2k screen with audiometers being a bit slow - surely because the 580X is running at the limit of it's capabilities.

Would it be better to sell the 580X and exchange it with the W5700X or to buy another 580X and use both of them in the Mac Pro. The last option seems to be a cheaper solution. But is it better as well?

I hope you can help.

I think a good test here would be to *only* connect the 5K2K to the Mac Pro and see if the lag still exists. If it doesn’t, then a second 580X should work (put the 5K2K on one, and your other two on the HDMI ports of the other). If the GPU is having issues with the 5K2K by itself, then a beefier card may be your better option.

I suspect you may be running this display as “like 3440x1440” or something similar? If so, that’s likely part of the reason for the lag. Making the GPU scale down a bigger framebuffer to the monitor’s native resolution does cost time.

My W5700 has been fine but I always do a restart on my MBP before connecting it now, and also make sure all apps are closed that use it. I have run C4D on it and seems fine but I am not a big C4D user so not tested it out in heavy use, but Rhino has been steady. Mine is set up as an egpu and I can imagine the Mac Pro being more stable.
Overall I am happy with it for when I need the power.
