can someone confirm this for me ????
So face to unlock and still swipe up to home screen
not 1 timw face thru homescreen right ????
I can't see what's wrong to unlock it via Touch ID and use Siri to manage my own things.
Using the phone doesn't mean that I will kill someone. A lot of drivers kill others without using phone.
Anyway, no matter what, people do using phone during driving is a fact. Apple make the phone harder to unlock is just increasing the chance of having accident, but not reducing people use phone during drive.
correct.
So this su*k ....
i though 1 times slap in homescreen faceid
why apple not make 1 times face id why have to swipe
that split 2 step anyway ....
This is not what the thread is about and the last time I'm going to post on this, but it is ILLEGAL and people die every day because people can't wait 5 freakin' minutes to check their damn messages. Sorry, but there is never a time when you need to use your phone while driving. Stop it.
This thread is about need to look at the phone to unlock it when using Face ID. Of course my post is relavent.
And it's illegal in your country, not all over the world. This is a forum on the internet, not your own country. People die in car accident everyday, should we stop using cars?
The idea is how to safely use the tool properly, and how to design a tool that easier to use safely. But not stopping people using any tool because it can cause accident.
Why do you need to unlock screen while driving? Cant you use Siri for most interactions since you wont be looking at the screen while driving anyway (hopefully).
In addition, when you unlock your phone with Touch ID while driving, dont you eventual look at the phone to use it? If so, when you glanced over it would be unlocked with Face ID.

Only if the phone is point to you. Also, "require looking at it" is already a problem during driving.
And Touch ID is "touch", I can feel where it is, don't really need to look at it, my side vision + muscle memory + sense of touch is good and easy enough to unlock the phone.
BUT.....once you unlock it with Touch ID, you need to LOOK AT THE SCREEN to use it.
I really can't quite remember why I need to do that.
I think people are just looking for the scenario where FaceID is worse than TouchID. But I can't seem to find one (maybe sunglasses are a problem).
Of course, this is exactly what I focus on. Compare what the pros and cons between the new and old system.
Sure the Face ID is a more convenient system after the phone is unlocked. e.g. Making online purchase. Now I don't have to intentionally move my finger to the Touch ID, but just hold my phone and wait for the authorisation to complete. Touch ID can't win in this area (of course, the Fact ID is so fast, and now we have no time to regret)
But when we only consider unlock the phone. Touch ID sure is a more convenient system.
I am sure around 80% of the time Face ID unlock and Touch ID unlock perform more or less the same. Because most of the time we do really pick up the phone, put it into the proper use position. However, this is also the extra limitation of using Face ID.
It assume us do pickup the phone every time we use it. And it assume the phone is at the normal use position.
On the other hand, Touch ID does not have this limit. We can unlock it easily when it sits on the charger, or car mount (OK, don't use it during the car is in motion, but how about waiting for the traffic light?), or just rest on the table.
Clearly Face ID has its benefit on some area. But I just focus on finding out the cons. And in which area we are going backward.
Again, I should make it clear. I am not anti Face ID. I just believe it should work with Touch ID. Then the phone is prefect. Completely replace Touch ID with Face ID is not that good. We gain some, but also lost some.
In fact, I believe Face ID will be an extremely good system on iMac or MacBook. Because we 99% of the time is sitting right in front of the screen, and we don't need any extra action to finish unlock or authorisation. In contrast to the phone. We rarely really hold the computer with our hand, and we really need to intentionally move out hand to the Touch ID every single time we want to use it.
But what I'm saying is, why didn't they make it so that, you take your phone out of your pocket, look at it, and it wakes, unlocks, AND springs to the home screen?
Imagine how fast and free that is?
Because what if you just want to look at the time, Notification, or take a photo? Perhaps they will offer an option if enough people request it.
To me, the annoying things in life are the interruptions, like voice calls which forces u to stop whatever you are doing to pick up, reason why lots of people prefer email/text. Have to LOOK at the stupid phone to unlock seems, again, am working for the stupid phone or the phone works for me? I pick it up, put my finger on it, WITHOUT even looking or really thinking about it, like driving stick, still paying attention to what am doing or conversation blah-blah, and BAM it unlocks and ready for me, is fine, don't need to look at the stupid phone.
I got the phone today and my favorite part is FaceID. It’s lightening fast. So fast it doesn’t even feel like you have a password. Touch is not as good because if your skin is dry or slightly wet, the recognition is terrible not to mention it doesn’t always get it right even in perfect conditions. The FaceID has been flawless so far—not one fail. I’ll be honest. I was skeptical myself but man was I quickly convinced that once again Apple was right. This is definitely the new way to secure a device. I’ve also read that it’s much more secure (like 20X more).Face ID is much slower than Touch ID, because when I pick up the phone with Touch ID, my finger is already unlocking the phone. By the time I look at it, it's already unlocked. But now, the phone won't start the unlock process until you look at it, and obviously the technology is not there yet (it may fail just like what happened in the event).
