I really want a tablet for one reason... I am an artist and designer.. I am sick of being disconnected from my work by by wacom.. (and who can afford the damn lcd wacoms?) I find it hard to believe with apple being such a creative-centric company that people don't see the value of their being an ART/DESIGN FOCUSED tablet mac.... I would LOVE you be able to carry that around using it with sketchbook and then editing the photos i have just taken in the field with it. that being said, i don't think this is going to happen, but i can wish.

I think what we'll be seeing one tuesday is more of apple's extension into the living room of tomorrow. They are going to continure to create cool new lifestyle devices.

I don't know whats coming tuesday, but whatever it is, I'm sure it will be cool. I for one, can't wait.

I want one too, Small like Microsofts. Handy for taking around with you. Lovely

What would cause me to *yawn*

So i am glad that we got this minimal, non-info post about upcoming mac products. So here is what i hope is NOT the big deal:

Mac Mini - intel (this is just going to happen, and I think we all know it)

Mac Cell Phone (jsut a personal pref, but cell phones are lame, and not even a mac cell phone will get me excited....umless i can render maya mods on it :) )

Ipod "boombox"- who cares? the only way to listen to music IMO is on a good set of headphones, or a component system.
ok so those to me would = yawn/sleepy time to me.

What I am hoping is announced are:
Vid iPod with a virt, scroll wheel. (i am hoping that he was "posting" on one with a virt keyboard, and a wi-fi connection)
12" dual core powerbook- (i am still 50/50 on getting a 15" laptop)
Mac Mini DVR - (i need to upgrade my tivo so this is just a personal pref)
no more GAME lag on release - yeeesh i know we all are ok with the "oh you run a mac, so you dont need to play games" comment all the time. Its time to make the release gap smaller.

so that my ramble, i wish this cat could give us a hint or two, becasue this "i've got a secret" crap. makes me think of highschool.

I would love to see an apple tablet, too. But i don't think that this will happen anytime soon. Just as you said, i think that we are going to see some fun lifestyle devices tomorrow. I would like to see an even smaller ipod shuffle, maybe with different colors. That would rock.

Does anyone know if MR has found someone to provide live coverage from the event?

New Design?

We all know that Apple will be releasing new hardware with Intel "Inside". When in the issue.

But will they redesign any of them when they switch to the Intel chips?

The MacBook Pro is basically the same, looks wise.

Not near an Apple Store
Guys, it's obvious that all of apple's lineup will turn to intel. It's inivetable. The purpose of this event is most likely not to showcase a new intel comp... Nor it should be for that was the purpose of Macworld. The apple invite said fun new products so obviously, since chasing said he's posting on "it"... It must be a portable new unit that maybe runs os x hybrid or a new multifunctional Pod... (celebrating 1 billion songs???) Since I highly doubt they'll have another special event just 1 month later in time for apple's april 1st bday, this might be the big day in apple's stock to really go boom if they indeed release the new era of a new gadget. 5 Years ago it was the iPod... 1 day tomorrow... only chasing/steve/etc. know....

How he could prove it without breaking NDA

It occurs to me that what we're seeking is proof that ChasingApple has specific knowledge, before the announcement. He is allegedly bound by agreement(s) and other pressures to not disclose any more information than he has. What's needed is some sort of information escrow.

ChasingApple could put as much information as he cares to divulge into a text file, put that file into an encrypted disk image, and post the disk image onto the web. Anyone who cares could download that file but would unable to do anything with it. After the announcement, he can provide us all with the password, at which point we can open the file and see just how accurate his claims are. If Apple changes the announcement details at the last minute, he could withhold the password to cover his rear, but we'd remain skeptical.

Unfortunately, if ChasingApple has truly stopped reading this thread, he will miss this wonderful opportunity to gain our trust while fulfilling his secrecy obligations. ;)

(Apologies if someone has already suggested this--I glanced through most posts and didn't see it.)

That's a really good suggestion. And if he made the password secure enough, there'd be no way any of us could crack it ... (you know everyonw will try). Chasingapple, listen!

If he doesn't do this, can I be the first to call BS. :p

Also it has to be the name of the product and what it does.

No cryptic stuff 'Change of machine blah blah blah' or 'i am using it now' or 'the wonder computer device that allows interactions and is very well designed if a bit pricey'

Exactly--a passphrase of 30 or more characters would be virtually unbreakable. I think. Maybe something like "see suckers i told you i knew all about it but you didnt believe me no of course not" or "ha ha suckers i made it all up and sure got you all worked up about it boy was that fun". :D

I said it before and I'll say it again. WHO CARES..... If he got you excited, great. If not then not. The point wasn't to tell anyone what is coming but to get people excited. You people take this stuff way to serious.

I find it kind of ironic that your signature is "Knowledge- fueled by curiosity".

I suggested something similar earlier on, but I don't know if this would really legally shield him from breach of NDA, since the encrypted file would retain a date of when it was encrypted it could be argued in a court of law that he did breach his agreement, despite no one being able to read the file at the time of the breach. :(

The event tomarrow will take place in the same building as the original iPod was released. I think it'll be big, but if it's not ... I don't want to get my hopes up ...

Don't be diassapointed if its just the Intel Mac Mini and a bunch of iPod accesories.

It won't be a high end laptop - the MB Pro just started shipping. I also doubt it will be something completely new with April 1st so close and I think the pro desktop will be unveiled at WWDC.

The Mac Mini would have to do a lot - full time shift HD recording, HDMI etc. would work in that direction. I'm not so sure we'll see a high end DVR box. I'm expecting a Core Solo based Mac Mini with extended Front Row functionality.
