What intel processor do you equate the 16 GPU cores to?
Current estimates put the 16 core GPU around the performance of a mid range 2019 16” (the $2799 one) which itself is around 20% better than the base model $2399 16”. It’s great for the 14” MacBook Pro (basically bringing the 14” GPU performance into line with the current 2019 16” but for the 16” it’s not much of an upgrade…

Not to mention the 16” has more pixels to push so if Apple did put a 16 core GPU into both the 14” and 16” base models, the 14” would actually perform slightly better… Just doesn’t make sense. For $2399 we better get at least 50% better performance than the 2 year model it’s replacing. A binned 24 core would get us there.

On a side note, it could be possible that Apple releases a budget $2099 model of the 16” with the smaller Jade C Chop M1X with 16 GPU cores. I’m sure that would appeal to a lot of people who want a bigger screen but don’t necessarily need the faster GPU.

I push my screen resolution to the max (around 4000x2500) and use an external 4K, so I guess I should definitely go with the higher specs? I can afford the 10%+ premium without hurting my wallet that much.

With the unified memory architecture it might be a good idea to get extra RAM too.

The SKU configurations will be very interesting on Monday. It’s so crazy how much we don’t know even this late into things. Something tells me we are in for mega surprises.

Regarding review units, I think they’re already out there. Doesn’t seem to be much reporting this weekend on the potential MBP notch, likely because they already know that it has (or doesn’t) have one.

So this rumor of a notch won't go away!

On the face of it, it sounds absolutely horrible. Apple's stupidest idea ever. And they've had some clangers in the past 5 years. But thinking about it a little, it may not be so bad on a computer compared to a mobile phone.

I think we can basically all agree that the notch on the mobile phone is not something we actual like, but tolerate or accept and get used to. But on a computer it would only be cutting into the menu bar. I personally never use full screen in apps. So it actually won't impact any apps I use. but what about if you use full screen a lot? It would then surely impact your usage. I wonder how many people use apps in full screen?

Where I see a definite impact is on full screen video which I'm sure many of us do often. Are there any other situation where a notch would impact the use of the computer?

Also, is this rumor true or false? I'm starting to think it may be true. but it could also be Apple allowing a prototype into the wild for marketing reasons.

I guess they could be, but Apple typically ships review units out after the event.

I think Dylan's tweet about it is a really good point...

Watch all the whining come Monday. If Apple decides to add that notch ( which does not bother me), or leave out the 100hz pro motion display. Despite the fact the rumour was never concrete.
Oh! I've built myself up for ProMotion!!! Haha. Bloody some rando leaker I've never heard of on Twitter said it was fact, so I believed it!! Carn Promotion!

Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get Promotion.

The closer we get to Monday, the more I’m realizing we have no idea what’s coming. I was more sure about things a month ago than I am now… less than 48 hours away from the reveal. Apple has kept things locked down tight! Even the usual credible leakers have been oddly tight lipped.

But one thing is for sure… We are about to witness what is probably the biggest single upgrade in MacBook Pro history. New display tech, new webcam, the move to Apple silicon, removal of the Touch Bar, additional ports, CPU power that will rival and surpass the fastest desktops and of course a new design that if the latest rumors (and leaked schematics) are true, will be far more major than just flattening out the chassis. Oh and the M1X will be the worlds fastest integrated GPU…

October 18th 2021 will forever be a major day in Apples history.

Hopefully we will be getting a new revised MacBook Pro, I am betting on that much.

I even sold my 2016 MacBook Pro, common Apple let’s bring the excitement up a notch ;)

Really looking forward to the new MBP.

Bought an Air M1 last year and love it to bits. The only thing that really bothers me is the fact that it can only drive one external monitor.

I work in IT and really need that extra display, I've tried this last year but its too much of a compromise.

Never really bought a MacBook on release day. I guess I've gotta be quick if I want to be part of the first batch?

The new batman trailer was edited with the new MBP
Very interesting if true… Not sure if you’re serious or joking. Actually, the movie doesn’t look half bad, although I’m not expecting anything on the level of the Christopher Nolan Batman movies.

If it was edited on the MacBook Pro that would probably be one of the biggest marketing moves Apple has ever made for a Mac… It would also prove that these Macs are incredibly powerful considering big Hollywood movie trailers are typically edited on humongous desktop workstations.

Never thought I’d be so excited for a… Monday ?

I think it’s a play on the notch between his ears in the thumbnail.
