Waiting for 2021 MBP

I’m confused by the flow of this post. Where did Dylan say they’d be available for order the day of the event and not that Friday?

I'm saying the MacBook Pro will be available for order after the stream ends on Monday. I don't recall a time where this hasn't happened with the MacBook Pro announcements. I'm sorry if there's any confusion with what dylandkt is saying & what I'm saying.

My inference with Dylan's tweets is that he's said that MacBook Pro M1X would be available in the fall 2021 since last fall 2020. The notion that the MBP M1X's were somehow delayed from a WWDC announcement doesn't seem to jibe with his tweet from almost a year ago.

So to sum up, I'm saying they'll available for order Monday. They'll probably arrive in people's hands a week+ later.

Oh, I see. I’m not sure we can be that certain. I don’t think there had been pre-orders for the iMac until this year’s model. So there weren’t any pre-orders for a long time….. and then there were.

I really hope it’s immediate order after the event. It will mean a much better chance of grabbing one sooner rather than later. Sure I’m being greedy, but at this point I’ll worry about my morals when I’m gleefully tapping away on me new 16 MBP!

That’s a fair point. They have been unobtanium for a few weeks now and it would be weird if there was even more time without 16” MBPs available to order.

Only the nerdiest of nerds will be ready and willing to put orders in at ~2:30 right after the announcement.

I was also thinking about the recent power adapter backlog delay. I think what's going to happen is Apple's going to announce its new power adapter brick that's similar to the one now with USB-C & possibly add Ethernet — but the cable will go from USB Type C to MagSafe.

Hopefully it’s at least 2. I’m still going to need to order one of each size. I don’t think they do limitations on Mac orders, though?

If you order immediately after the event, you are being impatient, not greedy. If you order two or three different configs with the plan to send back the ones you don't like, that's greedy. And if you a scalper, there's a special place in hell waiting for you.

So I've been waiting for quite some time for this release (years!). Current laptop is a late 2013 15" with 16GB RAM, and a non-Apple 1TB SSD. It's dying.

I've started doing some video and sound editing over the pandemic and it's a hassle on this machine. Back in 2017 or 2018 I actually bought a new MBP but took it back as I just hated it.

Trying to decide on RAM for the M1X I will be ordering. Would 32GB be suitable for video editing? I figure anything will be better than what I have now. Almost certainly getting 16" 1TB, just not sure on RAM, whether 32GB or more is best. Budget to consider as well seeing as how I just got an iPad Pro so my apple money is partially gone for this year

Any advice would help!

Lots of factors go into those shipping times, including customer demand. Intel MBP shipping times are irrelevant to the new MBPs at this point.

I may be excited to get my hands on a new 16” MacBook Pro. But I will sorely miss blizzard games on a Mac.
