There’s nil stock to be had anywhere, I’m not expecting Apple to start up production again either so Apple refurbs and second hand will probably be the only way of getting your hands on one from now.
I agree.. well technically you can go to the Apple store today and buy one if you want. But I think after this week they will diminish.

I believe preorders happen as soon as the store goes up if they say available today (At least that's how I remember it from last time) and having the store struggling with the load. You may not get an order confirmation for some time due to the amount of orders being made but you should refrain from trying again as Apple will send the confirmation when the backlog is processed.

I’m really excited for the reveal. I didn’t feel like that about an Apple product for a long time!

The notch doesn't phase me but "thick and heavy" leak certainly does. If the computers end up being thicker and heavier than the 2015 Macbook Pro putting in an BTO order on the 13" M1 Macbook Pro doesn't seem out of the question but would be a shame after waiting this long for a device. However those clamouring for a "real pro device" are probably going to be very happy. Im hoping Apple surprises us though and gives true performance in a sleek device but there is no knowing until about 16 hours from now.
I’d also say I hope they don’t go too far to the other extreme, that’s meant to be a benefit of Apple Silicon, no need for excessive cooling like with Intel. Now I know these chips are going to be hotter than the iPad based M1, but the existing 16” chassis is already capable of cooling a high TDP (+12W sustained load over the 15”).

I don’t expect the machine to actually be thicker, just that the slab sided design doesn’t disguise it as well as the current one does.

If there is a notch, I am definitely going to buy one! Just so that all my friends and family get jealous because I have the latest model. Very recognisable!

But with the revised design it will be very identifiable anyway, plus if there is a notch it will disappear in one or two iterations, so ...
Anyway if there is one I will seriously consider a mac mini instead, since I use my MBP 95% in clamshell mode

I like "slab sided design". God forbid they introduce some kind of tapered edge design on these.

Nice (Of moet ik zeggen: top!)

Is this any indication for pre-orders to be live right after the event?
I would get ready for that especially given the leaks of accessories and chargers already arriving at Apple stores. I won't be surprised if the release is this Friday given Apple has been producing these since August and likely has a large stockpile ready for orders.

No, it just means the new models will be added. There is no indication on delivery times in this... It's entirely possible that some models can be ordered straight away, others can be pre-ordered, and the ordering for others is only possible after a few weeks.

Cannot wait for today, super hyped!

Had a quick question. Given that EPP discounts still aren’t available for the new iMacs, does anyone think they will be for the new MacBook Pros at launch?

I wish I had more faith in Apple to come up with a really neat, innovative solution to the notch issue. Like either making it tiny and so blend in well with the rest of the UI, or finding an actually great use for the space either side, some sort of status bar or something with real utility. Sadly my expectation is that the notch will seem larger than it needs to be and integrate poorly with the rest of the UI. I hope to be surprised!

We will see how Apple deals with the notch in a few hrs time. ?

My final predictions before tomorrow:

* New Chips:

- M1 Pro (Jade C Chop): 10 core CPU W/ 12 (binned) core or 16 core GPU. Possibly clocked slightly lower to accommodate 14" chassis (smaller battery, less thermal headroom)
- M1 Max (Jade C Die): 10 core CPU W/ 24 (binned) core or 32 core GPU. Maybe ray tracing abilities

* Prices for as built models:
14" Powered by M1 Pro (Jade C Chop):
- $1799 or $1899: 12 core GPU (binned), 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD
- $1999 or $2099: 16 core GPU, 32gb RAM, 1tb SSD

16" Powered by M1 Max (Jade C Die):
- $2399 or $2499: 24 core GPU (binned), 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD
- $2799 or $2899: 32 core GPU, 32gb RAM, 1tb SSD

* Battery:
- 14": Max 23 hours
- 16": Max 25 hours

* Display:
- Edge to edge 14" (.5) and 16" (.5)
- Mini LED HDR - 12,000 plus LEDs on 14". 15,000 plus on 16". Less aggressive dimming algorithm to avoid iPad Pro blooming issues
- 120hz variable to match content (like iPhone 13 Pro)
- Notch to enable slim bezels. Apple will darken the task bar to mask the Notch. Apple gives users the option to either always show the dark task bar even in full screen mode (hiding the notch at all times) or hide task bar in full screen (making notch visible). With Mini LED Apple can use local dimming to keep the notch very well hidden while also showing the usual task bar info (Apple button, program info, battery info)
- 800-1000nit typical brightness. 1600nit peak brightness.

* Design:
- Flat design with soft edges
- 3 USB-4, Magsafe (ethernet built into power brick on mid-tier models), HDMI, SD Card, headphone
- Silver, Dark Grey and one new color (Maybe matte black, gold or maybe Sierra Blue)
- Backlit Touch ID. Backlight can show notifications (Low battery, Reminders, Updates, Unread text)
- 16" may actually be smaller than current model due to micro bezels.

* Release Date:
- Option 1: Preorder right after the event or Tuesday the 19th at 5am. Available October 22nd.
- Option 2: Preorder October 22nd. Available October 29th or November 5th.

In less than a day we will know! What are your last predictions?
I agree for the most part except 12-core gpu and the return of a headphone jack. I would welcome a 12-core part though. It would be nice to have a bit cheaper option for the ones who don’t require more gpu cores. I don’t think they will include ray tracing capability. My wishful thinking says that we may see a form of ddr5 ram and a faster ssd. Your battery life predictions also seem very optimistic to me, but who knows.

I hope we don’t have any of those last minute major leaks. At this point I want all to be revealed by the keynote (and it’s hard for me to stop checking this website).
The nice thing about these prerecorded events is that there are no rehearsals in the days leading up them, so fewer opportunities for leaks. And I agree, the event is more exciting not knowing exactly what's coming. Really looking forward to this one!

Everything sounds reasonable but the price for the 1TB/32GB RAM tier is too low in my opinion. Apple will charge at least +$500 for it, not $100-300.
