So its seems Mark now is saying in fall...and not likely summer
I wonder if in its the fall...they will release the so called" M1x for all of their devices at once...not like they did with the M1 imac
both macbook pro 14/16"
mac mini the higher end tier
the bigger imac
Probably all of them will run Monterey since it will be fall release

Hasn’t he been saying Q3 all along?
last time said as soon as starting this summer...but now he is saying that summer can still be a thing but its more likely fall..and i think fall means after Sept iphone+apple watch event

Apple sure could have made Apple Silicon to run on Catalina I’d they wanted to of course but it makes a lot more sense to me to release the first machines of a transition on a new OS built to run it rather then to implement it in the current version (unless they risked it being leaked and built the OS to run those machines in the first place).

Though with the next release / the new MacBook Pro’s, I’m really hoping they are released running Big Sur, since I mainly use my Macs for justice production and the audio interface manufactures are really slow releasing support for new OS’s (it took about half a year until AS Macs could run my audio interface but luckily I had the chance to stay behind using my Intel
Mac but it’s really struggling now, especially during the summer so I really need a new computer, whenever you’re ready Apple...).

That’s what I’m hoping for but I feel I have no idea what Apple is planning, guess it could make as much sense whatever they choose, releasing Macs before new OS (safer and less risk if issues appear with the new OS but slower adoption) vs releasing Mac’s together with/after the new OS (faster adoption, more risk and frustrated customers if problems occur), Its easier to predict such a thing when it’s the release of a new platform such as the AS Macs but not when it’s just a new Mac-computer, on their current platform.
Still hoping they give us a chance to run a Big Sur.

I bet Intel will copy the arm architecture and make a come back. If your waiting for a 14 inch with no touchbar your boring. Get the new mac its fire!

Looks like we won't see an M#X version until like M3X. i.e. We'll be getting just an M2 and then next year an M3 and maybe an M3X to follow... They (Apple) must be just to jammed up to crank out an M1X (or even M2X) all willy nilly...

You know what this makes total sense too, they are probably just gonna release A15 and M2 done.

How could we have been so greedy thinking they would release 3 ARM chips!

I really don’t mind (just because I’m desperate and really want a new computer as soon as possible but M1’s just aren’t enough but really close) just an M2-chip inside the n 14” and even 16” (as long as it supports more ports & displays, better graphics & at least some Increased cpu-performance), for me at least it will probably be enough performance and probably for 95% of the Mac-customer base though maybe only enough for 70% of MacRumors-forum people... what I however do mind is if Apple doesn’t let the price of the MacBook Pro 14” and 16” reflect this. Which I kind of doubt they will but one can hope for at least some kind of price drop.

If Apple wants to raise the price again once “pro-chip” are releases and put into the MacBook Pro they could always let the base models have the regular Mx-chip and let them receive it before all other Macs do (though seems kind of greedy to hold out putting it in consumer Macs just to be able to ask people for a higher price now that I type it out...) or my most preferred option, to release a pimped up Mx-chip for the 14” and 16” but also offer an MxX (Pro-chip).
Or BTO...

Talkin’ about BTO I’ve never understood why Apple aren’t letting customers downgrading (and receive a price drop) some or their Macs instead of just offering upgrading (with a price bump), how great if you could walk into a store and buy for example a MacBook Pro 16” with the i9 and maxed out ram etc (but of course only the most popular configurations and just maybe then price might have been lower due to Apple buying components in larger quantities..) and then for your kid you go on to apples website and order. 13” but configure a BTO with a lot less expensive parts and lowest ram and storage and whatever... worst explaining ever but if anyone knows why this is (why Apple don’t force people to pay the higher price for some of its products but still offering downgrades to not loose that segment of the market I’m eager to know.
Oh. sorry for off topic. I’ve been awake for 24 hours and sleep terrible last week so I’m even more confusing than usually Dropped my phone several times due to being so tired and falling asleep standing and sleeping so it broke and the screen is messed up, though it’s still working most of the time “luckily”...

Not Apple’s style to offer bargain-basement products. That’s a market segment they don’t want, and are happy to leave to sellers of used Macs. The hypothetical kid in your example doesn’t need a stripped down 2021 MBP — a used 2018 MBP would do the job.

So he doesn't know when.

"Later this year" is a very subjective choice of words which basically means they could arrive next month or in 5 months time and his statement is factually accurate.
Better than BSing, but also not worthy of a new article.

Its his job as an analyst I guess and I'm sure Apple stuff is only a small bit of what they do, but I just find it amusing how much noise can be generated from no concrete information at all!

Apart from those leaked drawings, we've all known for ages that there's new 14" & 16" MBPs coming which have new screen tech and the return of lots of ports. They'll be released when Apple decide and none of these analysts know when that will be exactly.

Business as usual really.

There’s been much more uncertainty the past couple years than usual, from market priorities to supply chain issues, and so business plans have been changing. It’s not surprising to me that analysts had to revise their expectations and give new time frames, albeit fuzzy ones.

I would be also intersted in the specs of the 2022 model. I still have a macbook pro 2015 biest and I dont knwo whether I should upgrade by the end fo 2021 or end of 2022.

There are many different techniques of divining the future. For example, this interesting Merriam-Webster page lists 30 ways. There's the obvious ones like reading cards or gazing into a crystal ball. I suggest you stay away from anthropomancy, though. And by the time you figure out the next two revisions, can you also check the 2023 MBP for me? I'll probably want to upgrade by that time.

Folks, I recently "rented" a 13" M1 MBP from Apple and the screen was SO much better than my 2017 15" and 2019 15".
Is the 13" really so much better according to specs or they are supposed to be the same?
I am asking because I am thinking about buying a butterfly 15" with 32Gb that I intend to keep and want that awesome screen.
Thanks!

Feel free to buy the Air M2 chip with 8+2 CPU and 32 GPU cores or to buy the MacBook Pro M2X chip with 16+4 CPU and 64 GPU cores.

Rumors of a September launch seem kinda odd… I certainly think it can happen especially since the iPhones and Apple Watch aren’t bringing much this year but to launch an A14 based M1X at the same event where the A15 is being introduced seems just… off.

Given that the M1X will be Apples first example of a high end Mac chip, it would almost make more sense if the M1X was actually A15 based just to have the latest core tech.

Dude guys I am telling you like Han Solo, "I gotta bad feeling about this."

I honestly think looking at the past and history.

In the old days Apple made an A# then eventually they got to a point where they could just barely do:

A9 and A9X and "Intel" was doing x86_64

then came etc (x and fusion) to:
A12 and A12X

But then

A14 and M1 (two chips) like the past

I honestly am seeing

A15 and M2 then, (two chips)
A16 and M3 then, (maybe maybe M3X) which would be
A16, M3, and M3X (THREE main chips!)
but honestly man if I had to say when they "could"
would be like
A17, M4 and M4X

It's seriously 3 chips they have to work on. THEY HAVE TO WORK ON THESE CHIPS

It's not like a simple oh just a... add some cores yeah that'll work "ship it!"

Here is a kicker, they ALSO do S1, S2, S3 etc for watch which is NOW @ S6 + W3, and U1!!!

They got a lot of chip action going on...

To make a 3rd MAIN chip is such a stretch, I'll go ahead and say chances are:

10% M2X, 60% M3X, 30% M4X will be the one that's the FIRST of the Xs...

So my advice is if you see a MacBook Pro 16 that's an M2 (only) you better grab that thing!

I have a feeling that when the next round of chips comes out that the M1 with limited upgrade options will remain for the existing low end models to encourage those needing faster performance, lots of storage or lots of RAM or more ports to go for the higher end models.

With the current iMac there isn't a heap of difference between the low end and high end whereas M1 vs M1X or M1 vs M2 would set them apart more. This will be similar to old iPhone models hanging around.

With the MBP it could be M1X or M2 hanging around at the low end when the second generation of those comes out.
