Gurman said today they’re coming “in the next few weeks”, so I’d say October event.
Beginning of October? If so will be trading in my 2018 13 inch macbook pro at the apple store to get the 14 inch
Earliest I would expect an event in October is the 12th, since I don’t think they’d send press invites for a new event within the release week of the iPhones - they’re gonna want all eyes and attention on the performance and reviews. 10/5 invites for a 10/12 event starts to be fair game. The Oct events are more commonly in the second half of the month, though, which would make 10/19 and 10/26 events even more likely.

Did he say few or several? I haven't seen the original quote but seen others quote several.

Similar meanings though! Minimum of 3 weeks away from an event, but probably 4 or 5. So an event for the 12th or 19th??? I can't see it being the 5th, even though that's what we all want!

That makes sense..I also checked out apple trade in to see how much my 2018 macbook pro is worth, they dropped the price(What else is knew) instead of 680 Id get 560 for it :(

If everything else is equal (although the speakers and mics on the current 16" are way better than the 13" for example), the only downside I've ever found with the 15/16" MBP is the footprint of it which can be limiting if you're working on the move - i.e. trains, planes, small tables.
I find the weight to be a factor, too. Lugging the 16", even without power brick, is much more of a hassle than dragging around my late 2013 13" ever was. Weight, and the fact I don't need a powerful GPU, are the main reasons I'd go back to a 14". On the other hand, I'd hate to lose the big screen. I find 16" to be quite small these days. Heck, even my 2560x1440 27" doesn't seem to have enough space...

With the new power of the M1 chip, I do wonder how many people would rather just have a 15/16" Air but have no option other than to buy the 16" machine?

Yeah. Just talking about that a page or so back. I would assume Gurman knows that several doesn't mean 2, so it won't be in September. I don't think any of us were expecting this to happen in September anyway.
I guess they'll want to keep the second event away from the first and the subsequent iPhone pre-orders too. Although depending on what Macs are ready might also dictate the split of products? If its just MBPs for example, they might move iPad over to that one to make it longer? Which I guess is even easier now with it being all virtual events.

I'd like to get 32GB RAM and some decent ventilation, because overheating is always an issue. But for the rest, spec-wise, MBA style is plenty good for me with the M1X. I don't need 4 monitors, but I need one aside from the built-in screen that works fine without overheating... As for other peripherals and ports, hey, there's USB-C and docks and docking monitors. But a colleague of mine has much lower requirements. I'd get him a base MBA any day, but he wants the 16" screen. And the base 16" is over €1500 more expensive...

The iPhone 13 will have 1 TB SSD.
I hope that your 16-inch MacBook Pro with M1X chip will not have below 1 TB SSD.

I think lots of people get by just fine with 512GB or even 256GB in their laptops so I’m sure the new ones will offer at least a 512GB option.

They definitely won’t start at 1 TB. I would be surprised if the 13/13 Pro will be bumped from 64/128 GB, and if they are, it will be 128/256 GB at most.

The current 16” starts at 512 GB and can be configured up to 8 TB. I will be very surprised if the Apple Silicon 16” is not offered with the exact same storage options.

I’m not ok. It’s terrible to be without a decent laptop when you need it. This is partly because the one you’d like to buy is always just around the corner, you don’t wanna go and purchase another one.
Yeah, and it's been quite a long time since their last update to the 16". I traded in my MBP back in May (!) and have been without a laptop ever since - luckily between the iMac and 12.9" iPad Pro all my computing needs have been met (which made me realized that I don't really need a proper laptop, but oh well, I still want one).

Just been upgraded to FTTP (400mb minimum speed) and will get a WiFi Ax router. My wireless network will be ready for the 16 inch MacBook.

Just think of the people still deciding between a MacBook Pro M1X and the new Mac mini pro which currently only has a vague release schedule.

Folks, I like snappy computers and scale up my resolution to 3360x2100 and use 2 external 4K monitors - that's a lot of work and my 2019" 6-core with 555x 4GB gets a bit slow with all that.

Do you think that I should get a maxed out GPU on the upcoming 16", or even the base one will be good enough?
