Just a quick comment to those concerned with shipping times and fairness: none of us knows very much about Apple's relationship with Fedex, but we do know it's a very large logistics operation to get this stuff out.

Most likely, it's not as simple as calling up Fedex and saying "we have all these iMacs in a warehouse and they all have shipping labels, come pick them up." That's what it's like when you ship a dozen packages, but not when you ship thousands around the world.

Apple surely receives bulk discounts for all the shipping they do, but to negotiate those discounts they probably agree to certain practices. For example, they may load the boxes into containers themselves, sorted according to destination postal code. That could make your exact shipment date dependent on where you live. Basically we should assume they come out in batches, not individually. I'm sure if you ordered earlier you're more likely to end up in an earlier batch, but it's still possible that someone who ordered after you will get shipped first.

Of course, it's easy for me to say this, since my own Core i7/8GB/2TB/wired keyboard has started its long journey to Texas.

time travel!

Our iMacs to NA are actually traveling back in time when they hit AK. Leave Shanghai late Wednesday night and get to Anchorage Wednesday morning.

November 11... still no change of status.

I was hoping that ordering on October 21 might get me where some of you are... enjoying your new iMacs this week. At least I can be pretty sure it will be here before the end of next week, but still... sigh.

No way!?

You are in Denmark and ordered an i7 on the 21st and it has been shipped?

I'm in Denmark, ordered an i7 on the 20th and it still says "November"??

Order number: 9130xxxx (that's one of the earliest European order numbers I've seen around here).

I really don't understand Apple's shipping policies... I really don't!

PS. I'm glad you're getting yours of course :) ... just a bit frustrated.

Martin, there is no correlation between order "number" and when these items ship.

No, and apparently not between order date and when these ship either?

The very same computer, ordered in the same (very small) country and the one ordered a day earlier hasn't shipped out yet, but the one from the day after has?

I just can't understand that, that's just not logical.

UK - Shipped, due 20th Nov

Another one just showing up as shipped today to UK. An i7 with remote, ordered on 22nd Oct, due to arrive 20th Nov (subject to change).

order number starting with W91394....

Ordered : Oct 26, 2009 at 11:12 AM GMT
IMAC 27"/4850-512MB

I'm sorry if I'm a little slow and if this was already asked, but what are the U.S. "hub" cities for Apple/FedEx. I take it Memphis is a main distribution point... so will all of us in the Midwest or East coast expect it to go from Alaska to Memphis first?

So I see my credit card just got charged for the imac i7. My order number is W656, and so far no change on the website order status, but when I call apple, the automated order status said my order is in process. I hope thats the case? Anyone seeing the same thing?

saw the same thing last night with mine, then i called and heard the same thing. no change all day.

please put us out of our misery and post some pics :D
But... wouldn't the pics look exactly like an unboxing and removal of a regular base model 27" C2D? How would it look any different at all on the outside? If this is the case, why be miserable? Just check out a thread of a C2D and you have your "fix".

Strange that's all there is to say about it, has your order been prepared for shipment, or does it still say "not yet shipped", by the way have you checked it through the american Apple store? It seems that the danish store is lagging behind.. By the way my my order number is W9132...

Venlig hilsen :)

FedEx also has hubs in Ft. Worth, Indianapolis, Newark, and Oakland.

Hej Sebastian

It just says "Not yet shipped" and "November" on both the Danish and the US Apple Store.

It's very strange.

It's only 2 days ago that I called and confirmed that everything was OK with my VISA card etc.

So it can't be payment problems holding up my order... Hmm.

PS. Did you order extra RAM or HDD or anything?

I ordered 8GB RAM, but that shouldn't matter as it's already BTO because of the i7 processor.

Regards (venlig hilsen)
Martin :)
