This is what I'm talking about. You ordered a BTO i7 exactly 2 weeks after me and will receive it exactly 1 week before me. Very poor job on Apple's part.

I hope you will be pleased with yours of course! :)

Checked the Apple site on the way home from the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair--it's now 'prepared for shipment'! I was beginning to lose hope of any change there... I ordered on the 5th of November at 5:56 PM Eastern Standard Time.

My status changed to "shipping" this morning, around 24 hours after it was "prepared for shipment." I can breathe a little again.

The progress of my order, to give an indication to those waiting:

Order (i7 1TB HD, 4GB, keyboard with numeric keypad) placed late afternoon, November 6, EST.
Prepared for shipment morning of Sunday November 15, EST.
Shipping begins morning of Monday November 16, EST.
Estimated delivery, Monday, November 23.

I wonder how many zig zags it'll make before reaching Toronto. Come oooooon UPS!

First bit of tracking information:

Location Date Local Time Description
SHANGHAI, CN 16/11/2009 15:34 ORIGIN SCAN
CN 16/11/2009 1:02 BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

LOL

Komiksulo, we posted our progress just minutes apart! I think there's some sort of telepathic bond going on here. We'll probably get our iMacs the same day.

Looks like we're in the same boat, or batch, as it were....

My base model i7, order last updated on nov 9, from i5 to i7, went from "not yet shipped" on the 14th, to "prepared for shipping" on the 15th, to "shipped" on the 16th.

Delivery date is the 18th in Texas

Guess it's all a matter of timing, shipping details shows that it was picked up at the Shanghai facility by FedX at 11:38am, and left the facility at 11:45, this morning.

this thread has kept me hyped! thanks!

I'm in Chicago, and ordered the 27" I7 with 8GB on Nov 6. The plan was to see if it got here before the Apple Store got em.

Apple says it shipped today the 16th (FedEx from Shanghai) and should be arriving by the 20th. Oh I'm geeked now!

I'm now starting to want to go to Shanghai and see this mystical 'origin facility' on which so many hopes and fears have been pinned. It's probably just a loading dock with a couple of guys on break smoking.

All my impressions of international courier facilities come from that movie where the FedEx guy gets planewrecked. :)

just got my first bit of tracking :)

Congrats to all the Canadians whose iMacs are shipping. Unfortunately, your UPS nightmare is only beginning :p

Well, I went from prepared to ship to shipped this morning. It appears that I missed the FedEx cutoff:

Nov 16, 2009 4:54 PM
Picked up
SHANGHAI CN
Package received after FedEx cutoff
Nov 16, 2009 11:29 AM
Left FedEx origin facility
SHANGHAI CN
Nov 16, 2009 11:07 AM
Picked up
SHANGHAI CN
Nov 15, 2009 7:15 AM
Shipment information sent to FedEx

It says I should have it Thursday. It seems strange that it was picked up by FedEx, left the origin facility, and only then got marked as missing the cutoff. I wonder if I got bumped from a plane or something.

In any case, it should be just a few more days.

Ordered 11/5, i7-1TB-4GB, delivery to midwest US.

Received Shipment Notification

I ordered mine on November 9th and this morning it moved into "Prepared for Shipment" status. Config: i7, 8GB, 1TB.

I received a shipment notification this morning and it is expected to deliver by Friday November 20th via FedEx to California.

Hi Johnrs

Can't remember, are you just getting the iMac delivered or are there any other elements of your order. Does seem that is it's just an iMac then it's relatively quick, where as for the sake of a Time capsule you can add two weeks and no tracking number whilst they "Merge In Transit GB".

For fear of repeating myself:

Ordered 22/10/09
Despatched: 12/11/09 (British Time)
Estimate Delivery: 25/11/09 (British Time)
Tracking number & courier details to be updated

whats wrong with UPS in Canada ?
I extra for 'Express' 2-3 day shipping and it's actually going to take closer to 7 days. If you weren't lucky enough to pay for Express shipping, there's a good chance that even though UPS got possession of your iMac last week, it's still sitting in Shanghai. Ask sdo about that.

UPS in Canada is terrible.

Thanks to all in this thread for making the long wait bearable. My i5 is up and running! I absolutely love it!

I was on my order status page last night like a hawk and nothing changed. I woke up this morning to find a delivery email from Apple with an expected ship date of the 19th. However, if I check FedEx's tracking site, it says expected the 18th. I wonder if there is anything I can check that will say tomorrow! I would think FedEx's site is the more accurate of the 2, right?

Come on baby! Im ready for this fricken i7 already!

By the way, I ordered Nov 4th. i7, 2tb HDD. Got 4gb RAM from Crucial waiting for a home.

Have you tried changing the timezone at the top? Mine says 21st too until I change the timezone, at which point it changes to the 20th.

Thanks Jalada, when I make it GMT it then becomes Friday 20th & that's really cheered me up. Also, on a positive note there's some déja vu for me 'cos I remember similar frustration earlier this year with my MBP-soon as I was able finally to track it-it was at Leicester or Northampton or somewhere close by & delivered in 24hrs (by white-van-man!).

spcdust, are you tempted to see if your local Applestore has the i5 yet-I just checked our Premium Reseller in Peterborough who said they still have a November ship date & have already sold half that order.

I don't think my iMac is ever going to leave Shanghai. Serious!

I ordered my i5 base on the 23rd! It still has not even prepared for shipment. Im thinking of canceling it, waste of bloody time!

W9136xxxx, UK order, anyone else got that order number or ordered on or before this date and not had their imac ship?

SNAP!
spoken to after sales 3 times, with a different excuse each time.
It's so frustrating hearing of others receiving theirs when they've ordered much more recently. My status hasn't changed since ordering: not yet shipped
Would a written complaint help?

I have express service for shipping class

This has to be the worst customer service ever from Apple.

I have just called to check and chase my order of my 27" i7 that was placed oct 20 and was shipped to the UK on 11th. I was told that the orders were made and shipped in the order in which they are recieved. So I explained that I also placed an order on the 23rd Oct for two of the same configuration and they arrived today.

I was then told that they would not chage my applecare to start from the date I recieve my outstanding iMac so that started on the 11th. It really was like calling Dell, he then went on to say he looks at 150 orders a day and they are always different which is why they are shipped in different time scales, when I asked him to check the order number of the units that arrived today he refused and disconnected the call.

What I did find out is those who live in the UK who do not have any tracking number, you will not get this until it is recieved in the UK distribution centre and a collection has been arranged with TNT.

I appreciate that the guys in the callcentre are busy and only can say what they are told, but this level of service is just wrong. I see they had no issues with taking the money from my card on the 11th either..

Apple seem to be having issues with supply and demand everytime they release a new products maybe they should invest some time into better planning and logistics

I would go watch my Apple TV but the 3.0 SW erased it and I dont have a mac to re-sync... lol

Rant Over!
