Actually, if you MUST know, I simply called to see whether the 7-10 day applied to all orders, since I ordered it before the 7-10 day announcement.

Besides, this is not a competition on who get's their imac first. I just wanted to ask the forum community on their opinion on "next business day" shipping. So can we please get back on topic?
Fair enough. Do let us know if you manage to get it in 1 business day. I'd be impressed if it makes it!

Mine says the same thing... It's 8 hours to Alaska and then 6 hours to Tennessee... It's still possible I suppose... Maybe they are just updating the status late?

Im in Chicago. So I think Im closer to Alaska, but I still have my doubts. I think you are right about the updates though. Im hoping these are on the plane now, or already landed!

Lets go iMac!!

Well, they said that they believe so, but all they can see is the "November" as well. Kind of an ambiguous answer, but it seems to be the case, that the 7-10 day should apply.

Thats good news. Its been 2 days since the US store was updated to 7-10 days, which means mine should be shipped in 5-8 days maximum

This. My dates were 16th/20th. It's the 16th today and today the status changed from the same as yours to 'Preparing handover to final carrier'.

Hi
I have the same dates and yesterday went to 'Preparing handover to final carrier' but today afternoon went back to:

Current Delivery Status In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule 17 Nov 2009

and still no tracking number

Congrats! What make and model is the 2TB Drive?

IT'S HERE! Please close this thread.

Only kidding! I hope all those waiting get theirs soon!

BTW i7/4GB/2TB ordered 24 Oct, Australia.

Congrats on a super sweet system! Would you mind telling me what the hard drive manufacturer and model is? [:apple: - About this Mac - More Info - Serial-ATA]

Thanks Mate!

A wormhole has just been detected near Fushan Island, off of the coast of China, south of Shanghai.

Seven ships and fourteen planes are currently caught in the wormhole.

Eurgh. I received an email on the 14th to with my tracking number. I go to the UPS site, and all it tells me is 'billing information received'. Okay. Fine. Two days later, it gets 2 hub scans, and a departure scan in Shanghai. Yay! Then nothing. A full day later, I get a 'The airline off-loaded packages'... still in Shanghai.

My estimated arrival from Apple was this Friday. Since the last tracking info is that message up there, at on November 17th at 23:34 Shanghai time (1 hour and 44 minutes ago)... I doubt I'll receive it by then. But there's no expected delivery date at all on the UPS site...

I hope it gets here on Friday, like the Apple estimate date said... I'd love to be able to play with it during the weekend :)

I have a similar report. Mine seems to have sat in the FedEx Shanghai depot for over 24 hours before switching to "in transit" this morning.

My i7 iMac (ordered 2nd Nov from UK Store) shipped yesterday. Yay. Apple said delivery would be on the 20th (Yay) then said the 18th (tomorrow! Woo!) but UPS are saying the 19th (Boo). Either way, was not expecting it to arrive any time this week on Sunday night.

Only hurdle now is it's currently in Cologne and has "experienced an exception" according to UPS. "PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE."

Well it better be cleared sooner rather than later.

Only another 400 odd miles to go.

Hi I'm new to this forum and new to macs. My first mac will be the 27" i7 imac, if it ever gets here :)

When I discovered that my imac was delayed, I called Apple to see if I could expedited shipping once my system was ready. Customer service was great! They were friendly, professional and spoke English.

Not sure if this will make you feel any better or not but.. here is the current status of my UPS shipment which was picked up by UPS on Nov 11.

ANCHORAGE, AK, US 16/11/2009 18:26 ARRIVAL SCAN
OSAKA, JP 17/11/2009 5:44 DEPARTURE SCAN
17/11/2009 4:29 ARRIVAL SCAN
CHEK LAP KOK, HK 17/11/2009 0:26 DEPARTURE SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 15/11/2009 5:16 DEPARTURE SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 14/11/2009 0:05 DEPARTURE SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 13/11/2009 23:23 EXPORT SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 11/11/2009 12:28 ORIGIN SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 11/11/2009 1:05 BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

I was told that my shipment would arrive on Friday Nov 20. This should give you an idea of when you may expect to receive yours.

Btw, when UPS says "DEPARTURE SCAN", that's when the clock starts running on their "5 business day" delivery time. You can call UPS and they'll give you a date of final delivery but it's really not accurate in the slightest. They don't have to stick to it at all. They can have it sit around for days before it gets to "DEPARTURE SCAN" status and even then they can just scan it again so the clock starts over.

Hope you get it Friday though. Would make for a good weekend!

By the way I think it's a bit unfair that american orders a flown directly by a carrier, while european, or Scandinavian orders are delayed by waiting in centers and depots, so that they can be shipped in quantities, why not just hand it over to the carrier directly from the factory, then I would at least get some tracking info

In order for Apple to get bulk shipping rates, it's inevitable that systems will sit in depots for a while, until a full lot builds up. Since so many more systems are going to the US, the waits are shorter. FedEx has a depot fairly near the Shanghai Apple facility; so if a system is going by FedEx, it will probably do its waiting in the Fed Ex depot, hence the ability to track early on. Is your carrier FedEx, and/or does it provide the depot service to Apple?

My iMac i7 left China on Nov 11th (22 days after placing the order on Oct 20th), it left with no tracking and last night I had a glimmer of hope when the order status page showed " preparing handover to final carrier" then today it when back to "In transit to customer -Shipment on Schedule" the shipping email said it would be delivered by Nov 23rd..

Now on the order status page, it says my Apple Care will be delivered by 25th Nov, but the iMac no longer has a delivery date? I called Apple who assured me it had entered the UK.. but they couldnt say when or where?

I think Apple must have used Oceanic Airways - flight 815 to ship my Mac... may see it on the next episode of lost before I see it on my desk... :D

I'm exactly in the same case as you. Where are you located?
Mine also changed from 19 to 21 (see 2 messages above yours)

edit : usually it comes BEFORE the estimated date, but I don't know if the other date (19 or 21) is the order merge or not.

Im in Norway. If mine comes the 30th they are using 16 days to ship it. thats way to long. It got shipt the 14th and still havent got a tracking number or heard enything.

27" i5 be on the way...

Well I guess the time has come to leave this post... ;)

Lets go iMac!!

I'm in the same boat with the "in transit" in shanghai. Judging by what i've seen on other people's shipping logs, I'm guessing our iMacs are on the plane to Alaska and should be touching down sometime within the next hour or two. 11ish Alaska time. :)

I dont know how FedEx thinks this iMac is getting to me tomorrow by 10:30am...
