It finally arrived today. Plugged it in, pushed the power button, heard the reassuring sound... And then didn't see anything. I push the increase brightness key. Still nothing. Hear a voice say, "English."

I call apple. Tech support says try powering on while holding [Command][option][p] and [r]. (I think.) Let go when hear the second Sosumi (is that the name of the sound?). Check. Still no picture.

Replacement should arrive Nov 30 - Dec 4. Ouch.

Oh man - I feel for you. Mine came chipped up and banged up. Literally! I had scratchs and chunks of aluminium chips every where. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed off. Fortunately though Apple is willing to do an advance exchange, so I can hang on to this unit until the new one comes. They have my credit card at their mercy however!

Pleased, my order for an i7 from the 11th November is now shipped apparently. Got an email a couple of hours ago.

Not so useful is that neither the reference number (81xxxxxxxx) or the apparent tracking number (31xxxxxxxxx) on Apple's website seem to indicate belong to anyone yet. Guess its not "in the system yet".

Apparently shipping via TNT International Express which will either turn into DPD by the time it hits Germany (How my Mac Mini came) or UPS (how my 13" MBP came).

Oh dear. My package has experienced an exception. This exception:
PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE / BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE
"...sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, buried in soft peat for three months, and recycled for use as firelighters".
First brokerage, then to a clearing agency. What could this mean?
CSIS thinks someone is smuggling Martians into Canada hidden inside the computers?

The bureaucracy of customs! Where are you located?

I'm in Toronto. The latest status update came from the closest local UPS hub, in Hamilton, Ontario.

It's a 15-hour trip from Shanghai to Hamilton. It's only been 9 hours since the "departure scan" in Shanghai. If the time of the departure scan is accurate, the parcel should literally be up in the air.

Just strikes me funny that there could be activity re. the parcel at a customs destination without the parcel actually being there. Could it have arrived already?

Maybe they radio ahead to customs to smooth processing when they arrive.

why would it come through Hamilton if you're in Toronto?
Not that it matters, might mean mine is a bit faster than coming to Hamilton via Toronto which is what i was expecting :)

New strange events on my iMacs journey from Shanghai:
It just arrived in Warsaw!!

NEver seen anybody here that had his iMAc shipped through there?

From my understanding, that's where the closest distribution centre is located.

That would make sense. "Roger, Tower -- UPS Flight 101 with a shipment of Apple heart rate regulators, approaching runway B from Shanghai. Requesting permission to land." :)

I just hope they're not covered in peat moss or stuffed with shredded Chinese newspapers. Or scratched. Or DOA.

Mine is also in Poland now, ours must be coming over together. I'm in the UK and on the Apple website it says I should get it tomorrow, although I'm having my doubts now.

Well, on the contrary, I am actually getting my hopes UP, when I saw it Poland. That's definitely closer to home than Seoul.

I also made a few phonecalls, both to Apple as well as UPS,
and both assure that it is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

I guess next update will be tomorrow morning, when it will say "out for delivery".

Don't you think?

DON'T YOU??! :)

Keep the faith!

EDIT: BTW, the UPS lady, actually said it was heading towards Cologne, when I called. Noone mentioned Warsaw.
Hmm..

Alright if they're dropping down in Warsaw to have themselves a wurst, but the package itself getting off there?

again. Hmm.

SECOND EDIT, 21.03: WARSAW: DEPARTURE SCAN

Oki, So I am thrown back into optimism again!

THIRD EDIT: Saw now that delivery date changed from tomorrow to the 23rd. AAAAAAAAAAARGH!

It's here

Just recieved call from Westworld stating that my new i7 is here in store in Calgary. Looking forward to seeing it live as opposed to Utube vid. Cheers. Ordered on 24th Oct

Those YouTube videos have been my lifeline.
They've also shown me how to NOT unbox an iMac.....some people have no grace.....or I'm too pedantic.

BLoody crap.
What's going on in Warsaw, one might ask.

Ask your countryman, speedway driver Jason Crump how quick he gets to Poland. I would guess in about two hours.

Dis is frustration at it's highest level.

Can I no haz iMac?

Awesome, good to see you got it in the end, thats quite a long wait! Hope you enjoy it and it all works etc.

here is the story of my i5 purchasing experience

Ordered a C2Duo on the 10th
Got jealous of the people getting quad core machines
Cancelled the C2Duo and ordered a stock i5 online from the uk HE store 8.30 on the 12th.
Change to prepared for shipping bout 12 on Weds 18th.
Shipped later that day.
Delivered today 19th by UPS bout 12pm.
So less than 7 days from order to delivery.
All set up and in use right now.

Thats pretty interesting because on those days i was calling Apple asking them about my i5, and they said they were not currently making them because they didnt have video cards etc and had none in stock to send out...

i7 delivered today. Ordered 11/9.

Installing software, etc now. So far so good.

I ordered 5 days after you, so here's to hoping I receive mine by the 24th.

I am somehow doubting it because the 14th was a weekend and maybe some part of the process doesn't "count" on non-business days, and therefore my order would be equivalent to having been placed on the 16th (Monday).

But at least I can hope, right?

Warsaw to London is around 2hrs (I think). Hopefully they can get them on a van during the night for a delivery tomorrow, unlikely though it is.

Are you in the UK or not?

Nope, I am in Sweden.

So IF we are on the same shipment, which we probably are, it will have to split up somewhere.

Perhaps that is what is holding things up. What stunnes me is that noone at UPS could foresee it. It can hardly be the first parcel-run for that company.

Just curious, or maybe you've written it earlier: What specs? When did you place your order?

Yours should ship tomorrow morning around 6am est. if you're in the US. I ordered mine 11/13 and it shipped this morning at 6am and someone else in this thread ordered 11/12 and theirs shipped 6am yesterday morning.

Well after three phone calls to UPS, Apple & MasterCard

It's official UPS has lost my iMac & Apple said I would have to wait three weeks for a replacement because they needed to file an insurance claim with UPS.
I told them to remove the charge from my card and cancel the iMac as I no longer would like to receive one, again I was told I would have to wait for the investigation into the missing package to be complete before the charges would be removed.

MasterCard happily removed the charge within seconds of the phone call & asked if there was anything else they could do; now that is customer service.

Very disappointing,

Somewhere in Nova Scotia Canada, someone has a new i7 to keep him/her company...

Well mine was order 10/28 still haven't gotten it-no progress what so ever tons of calls. how does apple explain this? Simple they Don't,Won't! you can even order on apple online store and get 5-7 ship time grrrrrrrr. Apple you done me bad real bad!

4msk: Did you see anything?

On my trackingpage, the info about Monday 23rd has disappeared,

the shipment has now arrived in Koeln (cologne is a bloody perfume)
and it states, quite dryly, "on it's way".

Should I read that as "it is scheduled for delivery according to the new plan, which is now 23rd" or "you lucky bastard are being manipulated into insanity, so that you freely will give your iMac away to the driver when he comes around tomorrow evening at 23.00"?

BTW, APPLE the almighty, still states "Delivery on the 20th"

eh..hrm
