serial number is w89492xxxx.... i think thats week 4? week 2?

am i getting one from a warehouse or a repair facility??!?

FYI you've got a Week 49 model, if I recall that will be around last week of November / first week of December 2009 so looks like it was from a warehouse.

Hey guys,

I was wondering, what is the chance of you getting a faulty iMac if you ordered from a reseller. I ordered mine at my local reseller on the 18th and was told that it should arrive in 3 weeks. Do the resellers run tests on the computers they sell before handing it over to customers?

Please help, no one will answer my question on a different thread. I just received my week 5 i7 today. What am I looking for on a white screen in terms of the yellow tinge. I do notice that it's got a warmer look to it in the middle but everything else is fine.

It's probably the same. Make sure you get Apple Care.

So I've had my new machine running for a few hours now. I am happy to report that it is perfect so far. No dead pixels/yellow/noise/flicker. Pleased as punch, so far.

Apple has issued a new firmware update today to address issues that may cause intermittent display flickering. Earlier today reports had indicated that Apple may have even stopped production of the 27" iMac due to this persistent issue.
Updates the display firmware on 27-inch iMac systems to address issues that may cause intermittent display flickering.

The 27-inch iMac Display Update will update the display firmware on your iMac. Do not disturb or shut off the power on your iMac during this update.

Apple had previously issued a graphics firmware update in December with little success. Today's firmware update appears to address the Display hardware itself. The 27-inch iMac Display Update Firmware is 294KB in size and can be downloaded from Apple's site. Installation instructions are provided here.

How about this? Is the firmware working for you guys?

There is a forum with screen tests on it. It has websites and links that you can use to test your display. Good luck!!!

The reseller probably bought it from apple directly. I would recommend checking your serial number on the website i posted above to make sure that you don't get a refurbished machine. Good luck!!!

My week 5 just arrived. So far no problems. I was able to compare it side by side with my week 47, and the picture on the new one isn't quite as white, but I don't see color variation either.

Well the thing is I forgot to ask my reseller about the order number. They did give me an invoice sheet but it hasn't got a w at the start of the code and is not very long.

Just got mine (Week 05)and it has the yellow issue :(

It is even worse than the returned one. Sad

Should i keep for having it fixed later?

So far so good

Nice video! Sorry to be off topic, but what camera did you use to shoot that?

I hate you guys!!

I really don't think this forum is helping me wait for my imac:(

Another delay, so I'll be lucky to have an imac by the end of feb... or longer if it is true that they have stopped production. Ordered mine at the end of Dec (28th).

Yesterday my iMac travelled from Shanghai (China) to Germany (Europe) and then was sent back again to Shanghai (China) and from there to Incheon (Korea).

Why UPS sent the item to Europe and then back to Asia when Spain is in Europe, is this normal?

They dont.
They just sends the package data to cologene before hand, for faster processing when the package itself actually gets there. Your machine has been in Korea waiting for the next ups plane to Cologne the whole time:)
