Ok, wondering something...

My delivery status has been:
In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule 04 Feb 2010
Since monday evening, but i had no tracking number or assigned carrier...

Now i just found (it updated about an hour ago) the following information on my Shipment Status:
Carrier Tracking Number
8108322549
Assigned Carrier
NL DISTRIBUTION CENTER

The main question i have here is: Can i expect a delivery tomorrow or not? It's rather important for me to know, cause i need to plan my day accordingly, normally i should be at a customer, but i can work from my home for him if necessary...

(btw, the tracking number doesn't return any info on UPS or TNT, and is the same as the Apple reference number).

Just curious what other peoples experiences have been when getting something like this ;)

So has anyone been to get $300 cash from apple for their troubles?
I am really concerned and thinking about canceling my order. They keep talking about the 2nd generation iMac. I don't care about that. I just hope that when I get my week 6 machine that the problems are fixed!!!

"As Apple struggles with flickering and yellow-tinting issues on the displays of its 27-inch iMac models, Gizmodo has been continuing to closely follow the situation and has learned that Apple has been offering refunds of 15% of the machine's purchase price to users experiencing repeated service issues with their machines. The news comes just days after Apple issued a second firmware update that appears to be taking care of the flickering issues for many users.

Yesterday, Gizmodo reported that it had received information from an Authorized Apple Service Provider in the UK that Apple is experiencing a shortage of replacement 27" LCD parts in Europe, with a backlog of over 230 machines waiting to be serviced. According to the report, Apple was apparently offering affected users the ability to return their machines for a full refund, as well as offering all affected users a refund of 15% of their purchase price.

A follow-up report today suggests that a similar program is in effect in the United States, with Apple apparently offering 15% refunds to users who have exchanged their iMacs multiple times in seeking to have the issues addressed.
15%. Cash. So on a $2000 machine, we're talking about a $300 apology straight from Apple customer support. From the handful of reader anecdotes we've received thus far, it sounds like you need to be a repeat iMac returner who's dealt with multiple 27-inch iMacs that have been busted in some way (but they may accommodate first time buyers as well, we don't know). One reader had multiple yellow screens, then received another new model with broken Bluetooth. He took the 15% and just returned it.

Despite the apparent refund program in effect and Apple's efforts at addressing the flickering issues, the company has yet to publicly acknowledge the yellowing issue generating significant numbers of complaints from customers. The company has, however, reportedly published an internal service memo for its service providers alerting them to the issue and offering instructions on how to handle it.

Shipping lead times for new 27-inch iMac orders placed through Apple's U.S. online store remain at two weeks after improving from a three-week margin earlier this week." by Macrumors

When did you place your replacement order?
I ordered the 25th. I had previously purchased 3 from local apple stores (i5, week 51, 52) and ended up getting a refund and ordering online.

A few posts ago I posted some pics of my week 5 iMac i7's screen. Since then I got a request to post pics using the yellow tinge bar test. I took them at different angles so the lighting in may house my show some variance in brightness. Check them out, let me know what you all think.
The grey bars are perfect. However, maybe it's just me but in the pictures I do notice that the whole left 1/4 of the screen (top to bottom) is slightly cooler than the 3/4. Overall it is very nice. Keep it.

Got my iMac!

I received my iMac today via UPS. It updated to UK shipment centre last night and then just before midnight I got a tracking number.

Order date: 16th Jan
Original Ship date: 8th Feb
Original Delivery date: 15th Feb
Actual Ship date: 28th Jan
Actual Delivery date: 4th Feb

Week 5, i7, 4GB ram, 1TB hd. (printer and applecare ordered at the same time

I have no buzzing or problems with build quality (dust/scratches on the screen)

There may be some yellowing on the display, but I am really not sure. The only time I can see it is with the test pattern up and when I am looking for it, it is slightly more pronounced in the pictures I have taken. I certainly cannot see it on a plain white background even when looking for it.

Overall I am extremely happy with this machine.

My week 5 i7 4GB 1TB screen looks exactly like yours with the test pattern - could this be normal or is this the yellowing every one is talking about?

You're right, I noticed that as well. Not enough to warrant a return though. Overall it's still an amazing machine.

I'm pretty sure it's normal, I can't notice it even when looking when the test pattern is not up. I have owned a number of LCD displays, but never scrutinised them as much as this one or used a test pattern on them before. who knows what I might find on them. I am more than happy, and hard as I try I cannot see any yellowing in day to day use. I will keep my eye out for it worsening in the future, but I think the problem displays are the ones where it is really quite obvious.

Hey.

As i am a first time mac buyer, i am a little unsure about if it was the right decision to order one now. But hopefully i will get a perfect one... Else i must call Apple and talk with them about it. I could also cancel my order now. But as i only made the order 1 week ago, and it has a estimatet delivery in 2 weeks, i hope i can get one of the newer version...

Just keep it, IMO. seen the pictures. DIDN'T SEE anything wrong with it!

damn man, you're very lucky, IMO that one i definitely a keeper :)

congrats

oh spoke to soon, just did the yellow screen test and its noticeably more yellow in the bottom third of the screen all the way along. I didnt notice it on the start up screen so it cant be bad, but it is there.

My bigger problem right now is the size and intensity of the screen itself, Its actually making my eyes ache and giving me a slight headache. I was contemplating returning it even before finding the yellow.

It depends how bad you want the 27". If you can live with the possible yellow until a fix comes up then keep it. But don't go by the estimated shipping date. Mine was supposed to ship Feb. 16th and it shipped the 4th instead.

I know I might be stating the obvious but after the first evening of using my 27" iMac and feeling my retina's had been burnt out I reduced the screen brightness to around the half way point - far bettter.

Week 5 27" i7 (2TB / 8GB [4x2GB]) arrived yesterday - UK merge in transit route.

No yellowing. No HDD noise. No buzzing.

Love it. Tremendous machine.

Edit:
Ordered 17th Jan.
Expected shipping: 1st Feb
Actual shipping: 30th Jan
Expected arrival: 10th Feb
Actual arrival: 4th Feb

Finally there are people getting good iMacs :)

I had to have it down nearly at the lowest brightness which also makes everything seem a bit dark on games...

I have found another problem, the imac vibrates very slightly, you can hear it humming constantly and feel it vibrating very slightly through the desk!

So its going back and i will replace it with a mac pro soon.

The iMac also does this on another surface?

it may be because of the type of desk, i think
