I have a 3-year old Mac Pro and was waiting for
the price of the 30" Cinema Display to come down
or be revamped next year.

Damn the new 27" iMac.

I'm selling my Mac Pro with Dell 30" screen.

Just bought the i7 with 8GB Ram.

I think this will perform as well as the Mac Pro
no doubt.

Shame that some are saying Mid November.
Hope that date changes for something sooner.

Ordered my 27", i7, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB last night after being clued to the Apple Store online while it was down for the big change with Apple products.

I'm disappointed that we all have to wait to enjoy the Mac we've ordered online. Seems those of us having to fork out top dollar have to wait. Don't get me wrong I'm looking forward to the arrival. Just can't believe it might not happen until the end of November.

Last night I placed my current mac on Ebay. It's an early 2009 release of the 24" 2.66 iMac. I am happy to say that it sold rather quickly. Now trying to figure out how to back everything up so as to make the migration as painless as possible.

I'm really hoping the new Mac can handle what I throw at it. I've way to much in music, photos, and movies that my current "sold on Ebay" mac has really become sluggish.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the shippment of the i5, and i7s ship out within a better time frame.

I ordered an i5 through Amazon. I live in California so the taxes alone would prevent me from adding any options so 1995.00 through Amazon was the best deal. The waiting a month for this is going to be brutal.

I guess I'm amazed at how many people are still upgrading to 8gigs through Apple after we just had a discussion about what a rip-off it is. But I guess I do understand that some people may be too afraid or don't have time to learn how to upgrade themselves. To each their own.

I cannot seem to get onto the order status section :(

and quite weirdly my confirmation e-mail has disappeared

[ but that was probably my blunder  ]

Its hardly a rip off. Yes, you can buy bottom dollar cheap RAM for what? $90 + shipping. Spend 30 minutes opening up the panel and then slap it in. For what my time is worth ordering RAM and installing it I just spent $200 anyway.

Sorry "memory door" or "access panel" or whatever they call it.

I guess worth it some, not worth it to others?

Question...

Why are people finding a 27" iMac with a 3.06 Core Duo configuration?

I only saw two choices when I ordered, the i5 and i7. Yet, some
are finding the 3.06 option -- not that I am thinking of changing
from the i7 to that.

It's the entry model of the 27" on the store.. The Quad Core are the high ends..

Yes I'm the thread creator :) but I cancelled my order. Couldn't wait that long. And also though 27" too big for me now. I went with the 21.5 C2D. I think it will suffice for my iLife and photoshop/lightroom needs.

But my uncle will get the i5!

WOW, because my original order was for a 3.33 C2D 27' with 4850 and it would have arrived next week.

That's a core i5 or i7?? Logging in on the order status page gives me a technical error..

i7 - It's been buggin me for hours saying I wasn't allowed in - kinda why I'm worried its just a tease on my fragile, and substantially poorer soul :p

I still can't get in (the Dutch store btw).. I hope your information is correct.. would be awesome to get the machine early november.. :)

I ordered mid afternoon tuesday and it just says Ships in "November". I ordered the high end corei7 model with 2tb hard drive.

Order Date: Oct 20, 2009 at 10:06 AM PDT

As soon as they were released i oggled for a bit - then drove straight to my university ( at about 6pm GMT ) to make my overdraft cry :D

It's still saying it - and i rechecked the Z0GF is defo for the quads so ... again - just smile and hope - :D

Speaking of University ... :apple:

My order timestamp: Oct 21, 2009 om 12:17 PM GMT
Still saying November..

What is the reason for the "delay" btw? It seems like it's the GPU.. when you order a 27" core2duo with the same GPU as the quad-core, it also says shipping in November.
