Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

Yep, I checked my balance on my statement and they've taken the full whack without any hesitation :D

Its just showing 'Ships November' and 'not yet shipped'.

I paid by Maestro debit card - I think the refunds only affected credit card payments? They haven't refunded me or anything.

Ahh right. I was going to pay with debit card and was waiting for some money to hit, but it was taking too long so paid with CC and then when the money hit my back account paid it to my CC and now I am in a plus balance with them.. :rolleyes:
 
I'm from UK and It's prepared for shipment

Hi guys I order on the 24 oct The UK store. The i7 and it's now prepared for shipment but still no delivary date ...
 
I ordered my quad core a couple of weeks ago at David Jones in Adelaide.
I rang them this morning to ask about the status but he said it was still not shipped.

In the original order I upgraded to 8 gig ram and also added a remote control, i figured the remote control will be shipped with the imac. has anyone ordered a remote lately or can confirm that they are in stock? Id hate for my imac to be delayed because the remote is out of stock...

David Jones had a visit from their Apple rep tonight so i might bug them again tommorow to see if he has any new news. He did say it would more likely be towards the end of November which is driving me insane.

I placed an order for the new remote with my imac, after apple cancelling the remote twice I removed it from the order. Both me and someone else at uni then placed a new order for the remote... he got his 4 days later mine says I have to wait until 18th Nov...
 
Has this changed...?

The 27" C2D is listed as shipping in 7-10 days. But, if you change the spec to include the 4850 graphics card, it now still says 7-10 days. I think when you changed the graphics card yesterday, it changed to "November" shipping.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I'm getting hopeful. My Apple Remote has been at November 25 as the ship date since I ordered but it has gone "prepared to ship". The i7 is still at November but my card has been pending since the 5th. I ordered on the 27th (because dumbass that I was wanted to pay on cash, not realizing I could have on the 20th since they took this long to ship).

I fully expect to see my RAM from Newegg before my iMac, but maybe I'll get the remote by my birthday (Thursday).

I ordered on the same day as you, but at 3.14 PM GMT-still 'not yet shipped' & my order number is W9135XXXX. I ordered from the HE discount store with the remote & Applecare.
So I'm looking forward to your getting the ready to ship info 'cos mine may be NEXT!!!!!???
 
Just a theory...

10.6.2 got released last night. On the same day, people starting seeing i5 units starting to ship. Not unrealistic to put these two events together.

If anyone has the time to do the research, this could be interesting.

A MacRumors article discusses whether 10.6.2 will kill support for the Atom processor:

In the article, the poster reports that 10.6.0 and 10.6.1 share the same kernel. It may be correct that the new quad cores require an updated kernel which 10.6.2 provides. As 10.6.2 has changed to support quad cores, Apple are clearly messing with processor-related stuff, so perhaps not a surprise they took the opportunity to kill Atom support.

10.6.0 came out in late August. What would be interesting to know is, when did 10.6.0 go to Gold Master and when did Intel launch the current i5 and i7 processors? If SL went to Gold Master before the processors were released; if 10.6.1 shares the kernel with 10.6.0; if 10.6.2 does kill Atom support: well, for what it is worth, that suggests that part of the delay is waiting for 10.6.2 to finalise before they can ship the quads.

Idle speculation only. It won't help us get our machines earlier. :(

In the UK that is what happened.

Crazy :eek: i sort of thought at the time that i should leave it out just to make sure the imac gets here faster but ohh well. Changing it now would be a bad idea i think..

Going from the dell mini 9 with its 9" display to the 27" display is going to be quite a change!
The other challenge is going to be carrying the box through the shopping centre to my car..:)
This will be my first Mac since the IIe days, usually run different forms of linux/ubuntu.

When they get shipped, im guessing they have to spend some time in customs/quarantine too. Keep an eye on the border security show :)
 
Just to let you guys who live in east asia know... my i7 order status just changed to "prepared for shipment" moments ago

i ordered on the 23rd Oct GMT+8 time from apple online Hong Kong, with a basic i7 with 4GB ram

my order number start with W5745

Not sure if it means anything but certainly something is undergoing

Getting excited!!!:D
