its funny reading all the excited posters here because their order is "prepared for shipment"..Can people actually be checking their shipping status 10 times a day???? I mean, there has to be more to your life than making this the top priority to your day..
I have 2 I7's on order, but, until I get an update saying its been shipped, none of this stuff really means anything..
until you get a ACTUAL TRACKING NUMBER, I wouldn't cancel your plans for this weekend...

I can no longer cancel my i7 iMac

Today when I checked my order, the "cancel" button had disappeared.
It's definitely a good sign, and now when I have heard that some people's i7 machines are getting prepared for shipping, I have hope that it will be shipped within a week. Do you think my order will be given a lower priority because it's bought through the Education Store?
P.S. I ordered october 21st

I don't think that matters at all. I ordered through the education store and mine is prepared for shipment as of this morning. I ordered on the 20th.

This thread is really awesome :)

I talked to one of the sales people from the local premium Apple reseller here in Norway, just to hear if they knew approx. when they expect to receive the Quad Core iMacs. He told me I could expect one in the end of next week.
Since I was one the first ones to drop by to make an order, he was quite certain that I would receive mine (i5 standard config) from the "first" bulk.

Is he talking BS or could it really be that soon?

Anyone from Norway, Sweden or Denmark who have made an order from a local store (i.e. not on the internets) who've heard something of interest regarding shipment?

Really looking forward for this one :D

no i dont think so .....we will have the same priority

So the question I have is that today I got invoiced for my expedited shipping charge, but that could also apply to the remote, could it not?

Well, this is the first time I have posted/looked at this thread since I ordered my machines on November 2nd...how many times have YOU been here since you placed YOUR order?

I guess its different for you, since you are a member of the thread police, eh?

My i7 is Prepared for Shipment!!!!! YES!!:D:D:D:D:D

I have a question : If I canceled my order, that is still estimated for November, how long does it take Apple to release the funds they reserved from my bank ? The money is still on the balance but not in the available balance. So the money is still there but put aside for Apple by Apple.

Could not agree more... I have three extenal drives and it works well with my setup. Have full backup on one and TM on the other with plenty to spare on them all.

Horses for courses....

I have a Core Duo iMac with an internal 250GB drive. I have three external drives. Whenever I open Finder, I have to wait for the three drives to spin up before Finder will finish loading. Not a huge problem, but given the difficulty for mere mortals to upgrade the internal disk, I opted for the 2TB drive. If my i5 lasts as long as I hope, then I think this will be a good buy. When I bought the Core Duo, the 250GB drive was a BTO upgrade and seemed enormous at the time. Now I store my entire iTunes and iMovie files on the external disks. Parallels eats up tons of disk space too. Backup consists of copying from one external disk to another. A real pain.

Did you upgrade anything on the system? I'm just asking 'cause I purchased my computer 45 minutes before you and it still shows not shipped. Thanks!

EDIT: Nevermind just saw your sig

Australian purchase here... Ordered my i5 on the 7th of November, then cancelled it and 'upgraded' to the i7 (4Gb/2TB) on the 10th of November.
Money has been charged to the CC but hasn't been cleared yet. Shipping status is still 'Ships: November' & 'Not yet shipped'.

Order no was W5754xxxx, but is now W5755xxxx.

Oh wells. Would be nice to have it ASAP though ;)

You'd think so, but no. This is what we are all living for. It isn't like we work on a computer screen all day an can easily cmd-tab to a forum to talk with other excited soon-to-be-owners. It isn't just a fun distraction. No, you nailed it. This is literally the only thing going on in my life.

SCORE! My i7 just went to "prepare for shipment" -- ordered on the 27th, no other upgrades except for the i7 -- shipping to Atlanta.

Let's hope that $33 in expedited shipping pays off and I get this by the end of the week!

Well then I don't understand how the guy above ordered at 12:30PM on 10/24 and is Prepared for Shipment. His is 8GB of RAM as well.

Maybe Apple doesn't actually have a system, and just wings it.

i agree 100% no que no ryme or reason, they r just winging it,,,
i got my confirmation yesterday morning ,i was one of the first to post my order shipped on this site and i know i wasnt one of the first to order!
