$420 is a lot of dough (that's almost a MacMini ;) )
I would wait 2 weeks for a guaranteed $420, but not for the speculation of $100

I agree and couldn't say it better myself. $420 is quite a bit of money. Could put that towards a new Intel X-25M or save up for a vacation!

Anyone who ordered an i5/i7 in November get a "prepared for shipment" or "shipped" confirmation yet?

Unfortunately not, bought mine stock i5 on 1st Nov.
Still "Not shipped"

Ah cool - I figure that we will have to wait a little longer. I ordered an i7 stock on Nov 1 as well. The remote went into "prepared for shipment" but the iMac still says "not yet shipped"

I think I will use external devices to store my data.
Nobody has 2TB of data on one computer, this is insane...
Backuping will be a nightmare! :D

Could not agree more... I have three extenal drives and it works well with my setup. Have full backup on one and TM on the other with plenty to spare on them all.

I hear you and what pisses me off are the one's that ordered the same exact thing I did but 3 days later and theirs is shipping. WTF!

i have asked for an explanation ! is it so difficult to "help" an user?

When you try to order a quad, the configuration panel on the website comes up with "i5" already checked off. Then you can change the processor to an "i7". That's what he meant by "upgrade"-- he meant "upgrade the order" not "upgrade an existing i5 machine".

Ive spent the last 2 weeks preparing my backup solutions for the iMac 2tb. I removed 4 500gb drives from my Drobo which were being using for TM on my MBP. I slapped 4 1tb drives in the Drobo and have that waiting for my iMac! I then bought 2 of these bad boys for my 500gb drives to create 2 1tb enclosures. Worked like a charm! 1 is now my airdisk for TMs for my MBP, the other is a scratch disk for ISO rips of blurays and then the bluray repo. Now all I need is my i7!!!

By the way, I just noticed this is over 100 at newegg. I bought mine instore at CompUSA (AKA Tiger Direct) for something like 50 a pop. I think I may have struck gold! Either way, its a nice enclosure to turn 2 drives into one big one.

At least until the next update...

Edit: I just got off the phone with Apple Canada, i7/4 GB/2 TB ordered Oct. 28 will ship Nov. 19, free upgrade to expedited shipping (now listed on my order as 2-3 days).

To the doubters that Apple is fair regardless of country of order. I ordered mine on Oct 26 and I am still in you know where....

You just have to love :apple:

Very good that was exactly the point of misunderstanding Thanks for clarification and kind anwser! not everybody is so polite here.

Especially to one of those external sites. The new iMacs with 4TB will be out by the time the initial backup was complete.
