You know you mentioned about software that can use dual gpu...and I agree with that...so in a way maybe 6,1 is actually good...it all on software developers.

As Phil said 6,1 may last for 10 years....maybe he meant it literally. Lol
That last bit actually made me laugh my ass off :D.

Wednesday 7pm BST - What's new in Metal - though the State of the Union in 2 hours might have some too.

Well it looks like the reason why 3.1 and 4.1 have been dropped from Sierra support is... Shader Model 5.0 on GPUs (GT120, HD2600XT).

I didn't read the requirement of Sierra but holy crap on 4.1. Seems like 4,1 resale would be bad.

I think the next step is to introduce the new product line ... Apple iClothes and iCurtains , iKettle and iStove all controlled via HomeKit. everything for your home and office, except computers...
Have anyone realized they had been heavily focusing on healthcare? They probably gonna open up hospitals...and Kaiser type.

There's Metal v3 for iOS 10. Progress there too.

At least Metal for OS... I mean macOS is now usable for games, finally. Metal shading language is now version 1.2 and same on iOS 10.

Yes they will open hospitals and they will change/update the patient's sheets every four years...
iOxygen will be only available to patients with an iCloud subscription paid only with Apple Pay, and paid in app per minute.

Seems like Apple is more of social "impacting" company than personal computing company.

The Apple file system stuff talks about how it works on everything from an iOS device to a Mac Pro. It's clearly not dead. Dunno why they couldn't just throw people a bone on that score though.

I wonder if it will refuse to install on my 3,1 with an apple branded HD 5770 in it. If it won't install, that will be the final FU. It will be off to Linux/WinX land. The MBP with that stupid function key strip and no travel keyboard will seal the deal. What a joke.

and we had these famous NDAs about a FCX update shown in secret and a new MP for this.

I think that there will certainly be methods to install...

bummer. just put a T&E request for new macs here at the shop (new FY is July 1). i fear we're going to get it granted and buy yesteryear's tech with an update seemingly right around the corner.
