DeviceID's for Polaris architecture do not point to bigger GPU than RX 480. But who knows.

Around means: 170-225W range.

Theoretically Polaris Pro and XT could lower nMP v2 price point...

Basic model with Dual D310 could start $2699
Better model with Dual D510 could start $3490
[doublepost=1465992616][/doublepost]Or... what if Apple choices this path:
- D310 Polaris 11 2GB GDDR5
- D510 Polaris 10 Pro 4GB GDDR5
- D710 Polaris 10 XT 8 GB GDDR5/X

In that configuration, D310 would offer similar performance as the current D300. But it would be a lot cheaper. That would be an option for those, who don't need power for VR, and appreciate CPU power over GPU. And Apple has this habit to but a lame version as a started model... like the iMac 21.5" with a under clocked Macbook Air processor.

Apple would rather give more(CPU, RAM, SSD) for the same price than lower it.

iPhones and iPads with 16GB SSD
iMac 21.5" with 1.4GHZ dual-core and 500GB HD
Mac Mini with 1.4GHZ dual-core and 500GB HD
iPad Pro without pen and cover.

You see how they dance? They basic model is so lame that you just have to upgrade. With the additional next $100 you get so much more.

Apple could put out a cheaper nMP, but just as lame, that you want to take the next one. And they get more profit. It another PR trick from marketing book. You have a budget, you find a product, and then you see that squeezing a bit more, you'd get so much better product. So you end up buying something more expensive that your budget was.

Why not. But after six months the topic will be closed because of bad behaving members. It has happened quite a few times already.
I guess bad behaving folks would indeed close the thread...like the previous thread.

I actually forgot about those close thread.
So u r correcto

If RX480 has 2304 GCN cores, will there be a RX490 with the full 2560? But it's rumored that the 2304 part is already the full fat die.
I guess RX490 will not be reserved for Vega, it should start a new naming scheme, like RX5xx, since there should also be a few SKUs as well.

Let's hope this time the bad boys will keep it in their pants and not close the thread again.

I think Apple should replace D300 with Polaris 10Pro, D500 With 10 XT, and leave D700 replacement vacant until Vega 10 is available and Introduce it quietly as option.

Most Mac Pro Users will find dul Polaris XT 8Gb Fair Enough for their Work (Media/VR edition, even CAD), only the smaller crowd requiring high compute GPU performance will cry for a while.

Leave 700 until vega shows up? Are you talking about having two silent updates?

The p410 looks like a nice box. Dell also this week started including E5-16xxV4 processor options. However, nobody is selling a Polaris-based Firepro or Pascal-based Quadro GPU. I suppose that when such cards are available, the nMP 7,1 will also appear.
Hopefully...hopeful

One update at next macOS/MacBook event, one silent incremental update Q4'16/Q1'17.

Whatever unless Vega has something ridiculous to offer I tough many people will opt for dual Polaris XT G500.
Very interesting.

Hehe, I was thinking what would be the best feature of them all for Vega, and couldn't find anything. Until now.
None of Polaris GPUs are yet linked to Mac Pro frame buffer. I am not saying it cannot be added in future, however... if it would be a possibility it would already be in the system kexts. Mac Pro will come with new OS.

P.S. Now I know why Vega can have 90 GFLOPs/watt. It uses FD-SOI process on top of FinFet. So it not only decreases power usage, but also increases the clocks, even higher.

accoding Darknetguy (yes I Still read his leaks) every new mack from now on will be SSD only, he just posted, No HW Announcement today due Orlando Tragedy, Apple to schedule a macOS release event in August , this event will be used by apple to introduce all-new Macbook Pros and mini, updated Mac Pro and new keyboards for all as well a TB3 Display, all-new iMac Retina delayed until q2/17.
I didn't read this comment...but in August, huh?

"darknetguy" has been throughly debunked. The Orlando tragedy - which took 1-2 min of the keynote - wouldn't stop hardware announcements.

That's what I thought too reading #671, what does Orlando have to do with anything regarding hardware announcements??? What a pathetic and inappropriate attempt at an excuse. This is the source of what we're supposed to consider "valid rumors"? Then I prefer Apple's silence.

I'm amazed that people believe that last-minute stuff actually impacts keynotes. When has Apple or Microsoft or Sony or any big company doing a big multi-hour presentation ever let leaks or other real-world events impact their show beyond the superficial (Apple addressed the tragedy, Microsoft accidentally leaked their new Xbox so they just made it the first thing they talked about.) They rehearse it for days and weeks, they aren't going to change plans drastically in the last hours. There's also the ridiculousness of the statement "oh no some poor people were shot up in Orlando—talking about our new operating systems is fine, but releasing new hardware? How crass!"

Total agreeance, the keynote wasn't shy on time, and further I don't see how a tragedy like the orlando shooting would constitute or warrant a delay. If Apple was ready for a release and delayed as 'darknetguy' speculates, Apple would be stuck housing how much product? Seriously the way product launches go (providing immediate release) product would have been in Apple Stores/retailers Sunday, if not already en route. If it was a pre-order situation where we would have anywhere from a week to months lead time, that would't need a delay either. As much as I had hopes for this to be legitimate information, I think the guy has nothing.
