Apple has been ditching wired Ethernet ports in all devices, I guess nMP could be next? Wireless all around?
Workstations are not there yet.
MST dual DP1.2 streams?Yeah I'm guessing the partnership means that they aren't going to produce their own display in 2017, either. Interested in how they got a 5K display down to a single TB3 cable, though...
Damn, I guess I missed the most informative partOK just for a bit of levity, who else noticed when Federighi was retouching that photo of the well endowed chick in the lacy top and he said "that's a nice set of... edits".
Remenber DarkNetGuy 'leaks' or 'predictions' he/she or whatever past june named the touch screen strip on the keyboards of the nMBP as "Magic Toolbar" which seems the actual name of the feature, that was on june 2... (take that Ming-chi kuo)...
Other prediction i remember from him is the 4K Thunderbolt display and 5K Retina Display non-thunderbolt (usb-c/dp 1.3) [this one i double checked later from another source, no eGPU TBRDP5K yet]
Interesting, keep this on track just in case...
Lenovo
No, Nvidia Pascal series walks all over AMD's lineup in performance and performance per watt. Pretty good pricing too. It's fine if Apple is locked into a contract with AMD or whatever, but we really need some reliable, reasonably priced eGPU solutions. What's on the market now is either:Anyone see the RadeonPro 400 series announced and being used in new MBP a possible good sign for upcoming refresh iMac and Mac Pro GPUs?
When you apply a proper workload to either, it won't matter - they'll both throttle and run at the same speed as a Pentium 4.And can someone explain to me whether the i7s they're selling are the same as the i7 that's running inside my 2011 MacBook Pro 17"? If so, it's barely any faster if ghz has any meaning... I'd love someone to school me if possible! Thanks!
You can probably afford a used HP Z series or Dell precision. They depreciate like crazy. Can't afford Xeons as a student, but I'm not interested in paying for a laptop attached to a 5K screen. A non-Xeon desktop shouldn't be such a gaping hole in their lineup.
The problem could have been prevented IF apple told the pro users what the status was within this year rather than keeping users in the dark. Pro users don't have time to wait for Apple.Well, they did a significant upgrade to Final Cut X, so that's a good sign. It really looks like a professional app now, and does a lot of the stuff I wish it did from the beginning. That, and the fact that Logic is still going strong, are good signs.
I think it comes down to this: if Apple's intention was to wait until there was an AMD GPU worth using in their nMP chassis, then there's a clear marker for when a Mac Pro would show up: once Vega is ready. I doubt they're waiting for Skylake Xeon because Xpoint 3D seems to be a total mess (and is being delayed until Kaby Lake apparently.) AMD's GPUs were way too hot and power hungry last generation, they've righted the ship to an extent. If Vega becomes available, and nothing's changed, then it's a pretty good sign that they're not interested anymore.
This all being said, the real reason I want a new Mac Pro is so I can stick the equivalent GPU in my Hackintosh.... Can't afford Xeons as a student, but I'm not interested in paying for a laptop attached to a 5K screen. A non-Xeon desktop shouldn't be such a gaping hole in their lineup.
