Hi Guys, I will try and get to all of your posts around mid-day today (Friday).

The rumours appear to be true, I have been on the phone with Apple today and they have stated that there is a constraint until around Mid January.

Before you rush out to get your refunds, I have no information as to whether this is for i7's or for all Quad's, BTO or not. Constraint can mean that the first order will arrive Mid January or it can mean that all back orders will of been met by Mid January.

Historically when goods are on constraint we will see a number of machines trickle through the channels, so far obviously this hasn't been the case, but I will post more tomorrow after I can make some more enquiries.

Before reading this next paragraph remember this is only my opinion and I don't represent DJs officially on this forums.

Lastly, if you can't take the waiting any longer, the DJs you ordered from SHOULD waive the 20% restocking fee, I can't remember the last time I charged someone the restocking fee, DJs will no doubt be able to sell your ordered unit no matter what build you get.
If you have trouble with this I would speak to the sales manager of the area, failing that working, put in a complaint with DJs customer relations, they are surprisingly efficient.

Also I'm glad you guys appreciate the information, unfortunately I can't say my intentions are completely self less.

Anything to relieve the pressure being put onto me by my 30 customers regarding their machines is welcoming to be honest :p

Hopefully if Apple can supply DJ's with the stock sooner rather than later DJs will lose less customers and they wont have to call the stores every other day looking for their order!

Looking forward to hearing the result of todays findings Miranda. When i lodged my first complaint with DJ's they did mention that they would look into waiving the stocking fee, but if you have the 48mths interest free you have also applied for and got the card with the annual fees also, i guess people could cut their losses and cancel that too..

Can you please try to find out WHY the constraint has been extended? It was initially only for 2 weeks.
My dealings with Apple (and a few others on this forum) have revealed that their reasons have been due to "Lack of video cards and CPU's" and "No i5 or i7 has shipped into Australia" The first excuse is obviously bogus and the second would only apply to retail partner orders only, and is not true if they are shipping them to online and filling premium resellers orders within 48 hours.

I can see no reason that is not motivated by Apples greed to not send a single order to DJ's. If the Apple account managers intentions are motivated by keeping his customers (both internal and external) he should be able to get some stock moving. i guess it all depends on the reason given to the first paragraph..

Im happy to chat in person about this on the phone or drop in if you are in Adelaide, just PM me and ill send you some details.

I'm waiting on a 27inch i5 to ship.

Am I correct in assuming that all imacs from Shanghai arrive in Sydney and
get distributed around Australia from there?

Does TNT use Air or Road from Sydney to Perth? Any ideas how long it would take once the imac arrives in Sydney to get to Perth?

All I can say now is that Apple are stupid. They are treating us like idiots with not saying anything and then when they do it is lies.

Anyway this might interest a few here:

Thanks for the link :) Im sure we have not heard the end of this yet in the IT media circles.

It is naive for whoever is responsible to not ship orders to resellers thinking that we cannot find out more information about what is really going on. If there is one certain way to tarnish a brands reputation it is to bring its morals into disrepute.

If the Appple stores are stocking i5 configurations to be sold off the shelf, and online orders are being shipped within 48 hours, what possible reason is there for a constrainment to be extended on resellers into January? I called Apple, they tell me its due to a lack of parts. Utter Rubbish..

If i recall correctly they fly into Sydney or Melbourne and are distributed from there.

One would hope TNT would fly it from the east coast to the west coast, one hell of a truck / train ride otherwise!

Yes but unfortunately we live in a world where Apple has complete control :p

Unfortunately I'm not in Adelaide.

I'll do my best to find out why it has been extended.

The first excuse wasn't bogus, there was limited supply of GPUs, the stock received mostly went to the US and to Apple's Direct Channels it now seems.

The Apple account managers are in the same boat, if they could secure stock they would, they have a hundred instore Apple Reps breathing down their necks to get them stock.

Hi Miranda....

Thanks very much for taking the time to respond to the posts.....

you mentioned you would check to see if our orders are going to be filled from the received stock, could you please clarify, I have the following Numbers an Wnnnnn Apple Web order Number, 712nnnnn Sales Ref Number and a C00nnn Number obtained from apple?? which of these would I need to provide you to enable tracking, thanks very much...

Has it been confirmed that the received stock includes I7's? or only I5 etc?

Your unit has been ordered separately from David Jones' basic stock order as presumably it's a BTO.

This is a good thing! It means that Apple has your order... As I said to someone else, generally speaking BTO's come in quicker.

However if there is a hold up on that particular configuration (out of stock component), it could mean that you will wait longer. What configuration changes did you get?

The received stock I was referring to is for the stock standard Quad i5.

All i7 and Build-To-Order i5's will have their own order.

The W reference number will allow you to track your own personal order, you can do that by going to www.apple.com/au/store, down the bottom there is a link to 'visit order status', type in your W reference number and put the post code of the store you ordered it from.

Spot on Dronus, that is exactly what's pissing me off too. How can they possibly claim 'shortage' when they ship machines online within 48hrs and have i5s SITTING ON SHELVES in the retail stores, unallocated and waiting for someone to walk in and purchase??? That just doesn't make sense! If you have 1000s of backorders to fulfil do you instead send machines to sit in retail store's shelves?? WTF? They are smarter than that and I'm sure it is a business to decision to sell machines to impulse buyers in the store knowing they already have the backorders suckers money.

PS: Miranda thanks VERY much for your input in this forum...it's nice to get good info from someone closer to the whole thing as Apple itself is doing a piss poor job of communicating..

Order was stock I7 with only 1 change increase ram (4x2GB), which I belive has not been indicated as a part that they have limited numbers of?? I have checked the Apple web, and again of this morning was still "Not Yet Shipped", and info greatly appreciated...

MId Jan Deliveries...Confirmed by DJ

Well........

Its now official, I just had the Apple guy from the store where I ordered mine and he has been informed that it will be Mid Jan, but no guarantees...

So i guess are only options are....

Wait....

Cancel and order from Apple, which is what they want you to do....

Cancel... and get a Windows PC, and deal with all the issues.....

This is the most disgusting retail practice I have ever heard about...someone somewhere is perfectly aware of this situation, and laughing all the way to there Xmas bonus which is going to be huge, as our cash is currently propping up their all ready overflowing bank accounts.....

Food For Thought? , it has been mentioned on the forums that I have been watching, that there are currently in Australia 1000, I7 Imacs on order from resellers, but yet to have even been shipped to Australia, so lets be conservative, call it 500, and the purchase price of only $3k that equals $1.5 Million sitting in these sodding stores bank accounts gaining a very healthy interest rate at our expense, this practice, again I believe not the first time Apple have pulled this scam has to be Illegal, someone who is reading these post and has the power to raise it with higher authority, PLEASE HELP US....

On a lighter note it seems customers of Nextbyte got an email infroming them that Apple are sending all their stock to the US for the xmas period,
hence the blowout to mid January.

Im not sure what would be more frustrating, not knowing anything at all or knowing that you were about to get something, but now it has been recovered back to the states and you have to wait again.....

Can anyone post the contents of the email here please?

This would be killing NextByte and the other dedicated Apple resellers, at least DJ's sell other stuff too. I have also heard rumors of all stock being constrained through resellers (that they dont allready have in stock). Not officially confirmed though.

From Whirlpool
Head office has been talking to Apple this morning, and the news is Apple are sending all of their stock to the U.S. for xmas, and it's unlikely that Australia will receive any until early January. and also give you a $50 NextByte gift card.

I do apologize for the delay but it's Apple's decision to restrain stock coming to Australia. It's affecting all stores and retailers nationwide. When they do arrive, Apple and NextByte will be the first to receive them and priority will be given to our pre-paid customers like yourself.

Just ordered mine online.

i7 with 2Tb hard drive and 4GB of RAM and the Remote Control. I'm going to purchase another 8GB of RAM from MacRam.

The shiping status it's saying it will be shipped on the 16th and delivered on the 22nd. There pushing the claim on the website of 7 to 10 working days a bit, but none the less if all goes to plan Santa can deliver it early.

The one bright spot is that the Remote Control will be delivered tomorrow, how good's that :)

True to their word the Remote Control has arrived and looks great :) I just need something to control. The shipping status still says arriving on the 22nd.

why does everyones computer get stuck there?

the Dell is 18.5 " and fugly
you would be better off with the 21.5" iMac

So i just made my phone order for my i7 27".

Spoke to a very helpful asian guy named Gus at Apple who suggested if i know anyone with the same reseller issues as me, (hi guys!) to have them CALL and order directly. He said machines ordered today should arrive before Xmas if no shipping delays are encountered with TNT.

After speaking with the guys over at MacCentre they were more than understanding about the situation we i7 customers are in and gave me a full refund.

Trust me guys, the resellers are just as disappointed at Apple as we are, but the difference is that they have 30+ angry customers calling them everyday.
