So,

Apple Store in Chadstone and Doncaster (VIC) have i5's in stock NOW!
I've been calling every day and they kept telling me later this week, but hey not complaining. The missus is on her way to doncaster now to pick one up for me.

**** Correction - Neither store have stock.... Stupid 16yo's who don't know the difference between a C2D and a Quad Core i5...

I am so over Apple right now.

They make great machines and nice software, but it is all useless if you can't get it.

By the time some of you guys get it it will be about to be outdated. 3 Month wait on a computer is crazy and this is why Apple will never make it into the business world.

They are still advertising and pushing the new iMac 27" yet nobody can get them what is madness.

I am glad I have decided after 5 yrs of using Apples to go back to Windows 7 as my main computer. Say what you like about MS and all that but at least I have it. And to be honest Windows 7 is pritty damn good.

I have just ordered a Dell 30" monitor to go with my i7 system with 12Gb Ram which has cost me about $3000.00 all up (got the Monitor on a sale for $1600). I love Apple but I do not love that much that I am prepared to be treated like this by a company. No more Apples for me. :)

this is also my first mac :D

I don't know if you'll get yours tomorrow, it seems it takes a day to get to melbourne and then another to start shipping... i've been checking out other people's order timelines and it seems that each "stage" takes a full day or more to complete

My iMac was waiting at my desk at 9am this morning!! They shipped it through to Melb yesterday, and got it straight to me this morning...
It isn't my first mac, it's my first desktop mac.

I won't be able to check for the dreaded yellow etc till I get it home tonight.

What was your order date and when did it ship? I'm waiting on an i5, due to ship on 11-dec.

order date was 27 Nov. Apple had also told me shipping on the 11th, but they generally ship well ahead of their specified target date.
I suggest you check your TNT tracking, cos it should be arriving any day now.

I feel sorry for those that are waiting on re-sellers, but from my perspective, dealing with apple directly, the transaction has been flawless.

Now just gotta hope its a good one.

Maybe one of Apples DJ reps can call them (or to the Sydney city store if that apple store has them) and pick one up for me and the other ppl waiting for reseller orders... Surely some kind of internal transfer can be arranged...
This is BS..

I had to go and buy another computer for my wife as we needed something straight away for her work, and banking etc..

This will be the lesson that Apple might learn about this. Anyone with half a brain can see what they are doing, and the consumers have options.
They dont have to buy an imac to have a i5 or i7 computer and there are options out there..

The people who preordered through resellers are getting screwed over and cancelling their orders to .. wait for it... get non apple hardware.. geez what a suprise Apple.. can you see what long term pain your decisions are making?

Im getting pretty pissed off now too watching the other threads as people order their machines, similar spec to mine, and receive them in like 10 days. There is no "shortage" that justifies what Apple are doing to the resellers and the customers. The proof is in the pudding.

But what do we do? i have always though that being part of the solution is better than being part of the problem, but Apple just dont care - or if they do we are seeing no proof of it.

Im almost over it too, the only difference would be that if i cancelled my order i would NEVER buy any apple products again. I would also share this story with my friends, family, everyone and suggest they do likewise... Im sure i wont make a difference to their bottom line, but its not just me that they are pissing off right now....

im on day 38 and Still not yet shipped.. Grrrr

Mate that is how I got.

I have bought a Power Mac G5, an iMac, iBook, a Mac Pro, a Macbook and had ordered the iMac 27" (I only have the Macbook now). My mother has bought a iMac, my Father has bought a Imac, my Grandmother has bought a mini mac, I have 3 friends that have bought 2 Macbook's and a iMac24" and I just about had my CIO about to buy a iMac 27" (I work in IT ;) ).

I am not going to buy another Apple computer again because of how they are treating us here. I have told my CIO and he will probably not buy 1 now. My family firends probably will not buy another as they usually buy on my advice.

Well Apple you have lost quite a few sales with me! :)

Ordered friday 4th
Prepared for shipment monday 7th

Arrival 24th december! WEEE!

Thats awesome, I hope you get it before then so you have it all setup and ready for xmas!

Can anyone from apple/dj's buyers explain the "parts shortage" in effect here?

Or are resellers orders parts gold plated or something?

decent thing to do would be to not rub that in with a little salt and acetone don't you think........I hope it snows on Christmas and your courier gets stuck.....Oh wait, your in Australia....nevermind:D

I may be on the other side of the planet ( Canada ) from all of you but have been following this thread very closely. The exact same treatment of resellers by Apple has been going on here as well. Pisses me off to say the least. I did cave in a week ago out of pure necessity and cancelled my order with the reseller for a full refund and ordered online. my lesson learned is to never again put my personal business in the position of depending on Apples ability ( or lack of )to deliver. Think about it Apple....once bitten, twice shy as the saying goes.

Lost in Pudong since 2nd Dec...

My delivery date from Apple was 7th December (today), but unfortunately it has been -

"02 Dec 2009 15:30:00 Pudong International Airport Connection Delay. Recovery Actions Underway".

for the past 5 days.

I have spoken to TNT more than a handful of times and they can't do anything about it. But they do know where it is (that's nice) and it is being treated as a priority shipment (we'll see).
So could be this week....

So if yours has just left, pray that you don't get the "Connection Delay....because you'll be in for a bit of a wait.

Hey Dronus,
I was also one of Apple's reseller victims having ordered from Myer. On Friday I cancelled my order with Myer and ordered directly from Apple at 17:30 at night.

Today I have received notification that my i7, a printer and Applecare have all shipped! It amazes me that Apple can claim a 'worldwide shortage' yet manage to do such fast turn arounds...effectively shipped within 24 business hours!

I wish you all the best with your reseller order and thanks for your early efforts with DJs...I'm crossing my fingers that I won't be one of the early adopter guinea pigs...that is one of the benefits of the reseller orders that they would have likely fixed all the problems by then.

Cool, thanks for posting your status. Please keep the thread updated as you get your shipping information as this will help the rest of us trying to prove to DJ's and Apple retail partners that we are being taken for a ride with the BS excuses they are still coming up with.

Could everyone else please keep the thread updated with your shipping info also (just times and dates, same as what everyone else is posting from the TNT updates. No need for personal details or order numbers, keep those to yourself for now), its important for the rest of us trying to get a fair deal..

Im going to start making some more calls again tommorow, and if everyone could also follow through with whichever contacts you have to explain that these online orders are shipping straight away and there is no shortage of parts that could restrict the orders flowing through to the retail partners.

Miranda - are you still following the thread? Can you please make the buyers at DJ's aware of this, if not, please i would like to constructively discuss it with them. Ill try DJ's head office but a referral would help alot.

Sad

So I cancelled one of my orders and went direct apply ordered Friday afternoon and it has shipped. The second order I had was for me personally.

Debating whether to sacrifice reseller emplyee discount for the unit before xmas. So Angry!

Hey guys, just registered to post that I too ordered from online apple store on Friday and just got my shipping notification.

Looks like resellers really are getting f'd in the a on this one.

I'm sorry dronus :(

Does this mean that i7 imacs are shipping much faster than i5 imacs?

i'm still waiting on mine, due to ship 11/12/2009.

Thanks for posting guys, we really appreciate the effort that you have done to register and post your ordering status. Please keep the thread updated as you get your shipping notifications and status, and i hope you get your iMac quickly and in top condition. Look forward to hearing you getting you machine soon.

@InternetPowered yep you got it in one, i cannot see how anyone can substantiate a claim that the machines are not shipping due to lack of parts.
Can you guys also post which model you have ordered and any BTO options (RAM, CPU, anyting else).

Cheers,
Dronus

Just a stock i7. TNT shipment info says that my new baby is currently chillaxin' at pudong international airport.

I'm really hoping my iMac lands in Sydney soon! Obviously it won't be delivered today, does anyone know if I can collect from TNT? Or do you know is it as easy as calling them to change the delivery address (so I can get it sent to my work tomorrow)?

Sydney Apple store has the i5 in stock, they must not be aware of the world wide shortage, just ask David Jones
