I’m sure after the rogame leaks that they do have an updated base model in development. I think like last year they’ll update it in July with the student deal

The £1799 model is finally competitive with other Macs now it starts at 16/512, pleasantly surprised at that. The two-port models are still a bit confusing but hey ho.

May've been tempted by a 14" screen, but think I'll sit it out until a more major design change. My 2016 13" is still chugging along fine, especially when connected to my eGPU. Would like more than 8GB RAM and the dual core is a bit slow at times, but it's still great for 90% of what I need to do.

Nah, wouldn't have bothered adding the KB and doubling storage now if it was getting updated again in a couple of months time. At best they might bring Ice Lake when the 28W model goes to 14" - though even that is probably more likely for 2021/ Tiger lake.

They definitely have plans to add 15W ice lake probably just in a few months. Very sneaky though I’m just glad I’ve been planning for the £1799 anyway. Especially now it has faster ram and a much more decent cpu

So is this the last intel mac refresh before ARM? Guess we wait til WWDC
There's still supposedly a 16"/14" mini LED due for the end of the year, which will be Intel if Kuo is right about the first Arm Macs being available to consumers in early 2021. Though it could also be that these machines are the first Arm devices, and Kuo is slightly out about the timings as he sometimes is, too.

Depends what your workload is like and if you’ll benefit from the improved thermal throttling of the Pro model.

For my wife. Mostly writing, web. But zoom and other video conferencing will be used a lot. I assume the MBP is quieter?

2TB MBP 8/256 versus MBA i5/8/256 -- which do you get?
For the same $1,299, the Air offers better graphics performance, and double (512GB) storage capacity, but worse CPU performance, and particularly under sustained load, and doesn't have a P3 colour accurate display.

I suppose the Pro will have slightly better thermal performance but the size and price benefit the MBA. Especially bc doesn’t the MBA have a 10th gen CPU vs the 8th gen in the MBP?

So this says to me that there will be a refresh of the entry-level models after WWDC - same as last year. To me, they signaled that the 14” won’t be coming this year though. I doubt the lower end specs will get a larger screen after this refresh.

There is the i5 with 16GB or 32GB.

If I’m honest i think that mini led could still come at the end of the year but may get pushed due to the current situation. Either way I’m sure the base model will be refreshed in time for the back to school deal like last year as it’s been shown they are already testing new 15w chips. When mini led does come I think the chips in the 13” will stay the same with only the 16” getting the minor boost in performance.

Yes the

MBA has the 10th gen CPU and way faster ram.
