Is the import from other workout apps say Training Peaks to the workout app working yet?
Doubt it. While the TP app might have a beta with new features for a small subset of folks, Apple typically does not allow the new feature set to be used in new apps until the full version of IOS comes out in the fall. So most of us won't see it until Sept at the earliest

Yep! I’ve got my Garmin pedals hooked up, too. It’s recording the data, I just don’t see where it’s exporting power data.
Healthfit has to update the app (or Rungap) and unless you are using the beta version of those apps, you won't get that exported data in Strava / Training Peaks or whatever, until the apps are updated in the fall. Same every year

Just jumped on the Beta train on my S7 Hermes. Keeping my ultra on OS9 for now. Battery usage has settled a bit after the initial install last night to about 6% an hour (OS9 was about 4%) though initially 10-12-% per hour.

Like it so far, though didn’t realise how many times I swipe up for control and left or right for new face lol.

I’ve been using HealthFit (beta) and it works mostly OK, until you have gaps in the GPS data. When that happens, the export to Strava and Intervals.icu gets bricked (wrong time and distance and more). Somehow Apple Fitness and Runalayze are able to work around this.

Pretty much the exact same for me. ultra still on os 9 and NaTi s7 on 10. battery has settled in. I guess I have to just get used to the new navigation. I do have some issues with the apple weather widget loading and my carrott weather complication loading, but after an hour or so they tend to start working. Happy for the most part so far

I had similar on the stock weather and carrot and found out on the iPhone the allow location was reset to “whilst using” rather than always.

Since it's been two weeks, I'm very surprised there was no update this week. I thought for sure yesterday the usual Tuesday 1:00 EST drop, but once in a while that is pushed to Wednesday. Nothing today which means next week.

If there is no update today I think they may be delaying a week to align the DB and PB releases to the same week for the rest of the cycle.
There won't be one today at this point, but great point, I didn't think about that, although they could provide a 1 week update to the Public program and stay one two weeks for us. It is all the same update. Oh well, next Tuesday,

How is the battery life? My poor series 6 is already sometimes struggling, not sure if I want to risk it. The update looks amazing though, so I’m tempted.
Depends what you do. I’ve realized that e.g. playing music from the Watch while using the Outdoor Run workout drains the battery super fast. (Music seems to be the culprit there - workout with something playing from the iPhone doesn’t kill the battery.)

I am already running Sonoma on my Macs and iOS 17 on my iPhone. I generally have no issues with Betas -- especially these days as they have gotten so much more stable than years ago.

I have abstained from updating my UW to Watch OS 10 solely based on things I have read here about the battery.

However...

Your remark of "Depends on what you do" has me rethinking all of this.

I don't play music on my watch or do anything power-consuming with it other than workouts and sleep tracking. Based on that, is the beta draining the battery to the point where I should not consider an update at this point?

I grabbed my Ultra off the charger at 4:30 this morning and have since went for a 5-mile run listening to music. Granted it is now only 8:15 but the watch is sitting at 89%. Based on the last few days/weeks I expect it to be 70-75% around 9 tonight. This is with the beta.

So, basically, it's not eating a lot of battery power. To have 70-75% at the end of the night is excellent.

I'll install the beta. Thank You.

I took my watch off the charger at 4:00 AM. I used it on the Peloton to track heart rate for 45 minutes and interface with the Peloton bike. I then went to the gym and worked out for an hour streaming music from the watch (not the phone) for an hour. It is now just about 2 P.M. and I am at 82%. I'll take that.

Honestly on my Series 6 the biggest thing for me is turning off the always on display. This was actually before the beta install. It wouldn't always make it through a day with AOD on, and since turning that off I have well over 50% by the time I go to bed at night. The beta hasn't changed that.

The AOD is a favorite feature for me because I’m weird, but thanks for the tip. Batter being similar before and after beta install is good enough for me to go ahead with it, and if it sucks I guess I can just cave and turn AOD off.

I need to replace mine when the series 9 comes out. Been jealous of the new screen anyways.

Yeah I would like to keep mine on, but with a battery health of 81% after owning this watch a few years, it was just dying too quick on me.

I am trying to wait and see if they release a new ultra this fall before I do any upgrades. I would love the bigger screen and bigger battery.

Please tell me the persistent bubble notifying me I have an alarm set for tomorrow morning is a bug. That's so annoying.

Hopefully the S9 has a slight bump in battery due to the new processor. I'd like these things to at least last 3 years before they start going out.

There is one thing in watchOS 10 and maybe connected to iOS 17. Its the calculation of the kcal you burned during the day. It seems that the calculation changed internally.. in my experience today and yesterday i had more calories burned during activities but i had less total calories. For me it looks like the calculation and maybe the mathematics behind it was changed and optimized but i am not honestly not 100% sure about it.
I'm seeing this too on PB1 - intermittently it's not calculating calories when watch is not worn. I charge my watch while sleeping.

On Tuesday this week, my total calorie count was ~500 below normal given total burned. On Wednesday it was OK, and it showed ~460 in activities on my iphone at 7 am when I put my watch on.

This morning, it showed nothing at the same time.

My Ultra battery life is still not good with beta 3. I charged to 100% at 21:50 last night. At the 4:30 morning I ran 15 km. Now its 9:26 and I have 56% battery.
My battery health is 97%.
