I actually never really used the optimised charging as I just top it up before going to bed and tracking sleep as wellSorry need to make a huge clarification regarding a previous battery report:
I realized watchOS 10 introduces optimized battery charging to Series 8, previously limited to the Ultra. So my watch has actually been charging to only 80% ever since getting the beta. So what I thought was a 30-40% battery drop compared to watchOS 9 is more like 10-20%, not a dramatic amount considering this is the first beta.
It was not a Beta watchOS issue. Yesterday prior to the update I had enabled „Touch Assistant“ for paying. After disabling everthing is working Fine again!none of my apple pay cards are working for NFC cash any more here in Germany.

I agree. I seriously hate the press and select watch face change. 🙁Me too. I really hope it comes back in a future update. Kind of no valuable purpose to the side button now.
Just report it in the Feedback App pls. Use Screen Recording to demonstrate the issue. Not sure if it's an OS 10 thing or I'm missing something, but I have noticed today that I can't adjust my alert volume to more than 50% on my AWU. I've tried adjusting the alert volume on the watch, and the phone. it moves to 100%, but when I go back into the settings, it's at 50% again!
This feature currently doesn’t work on my AWU.Can’t remember it it’s on by default. But in mine, it’s definitely a bit random. Sometimes it’s quite dark where I am and still doesn’t trigger.
YesIs Apple Pay still triggered with a double click on the side button?
You might have to go into Accessibility settings in the watch app to adjust the speed that the double press for Apple Pay uses. I have seen several complaints from those who were not able to get it to trigger until they did so.Is Apple Pay still triggered with a double click on the side button?
Oh man! I thought the lack of face swiping was an unfortunate bug! I hope they bring it back.I'm with you, mostly. I think this change was to prevent accidental changes of watch faces (has happened to be a few times) but I use it more intentionally than I do unintentionally. This will probably be back in a future beta unless Apple want to reserve the edge left/right swipes for some different function in the future.
Yes, I tried reboot but still same. I charged yesterday, picked at 20:50 from charger at 100%. At 4:00 I had 87% (so 13% over night sleep) and after halfmarathon I have 52% on 7:05.Have you tried doing a hard reboot of the watch? (pressing both the crown and side button for 10 seconds until the watch reboot itself)
For me, it seemed to help.
I got my Ultra on release day, still 100% battery health.
I usually charge my Ultra before going to bed, and only need to charge it every other day. On WatchOS 9.5 or before, I always had 20-35% minimum left after 48h of use (two nights and two full day), depending on how many workouts I've done or none.
Now under WatchOS 10 the watch was already at less than 50% after one night and one day, so definitely a bigger drain. Just losing 4-5% an hour, doing nothing, or losing 10-15% during the first night while before it was only 5-7%.
Did a hard reset and things seems better now (only 2-3% drain in the last two hours, more in line with what I've had before), although maybe it's too early to draw conclusions.
I can't remember TBH. ;-) But if you choose Outdoor Cycle and then go into preferences, you can add the fields there. But I can't remember if I had to do that or not.I have an Ultra on the beta. Went into the watch’s Bluetooth and it found my Quark power meter which I added and it shows it’s connected.
Unfortunately Workout, Outdoor Cycle doesn’t have a data field for the power meter and no new power screen was added.
Did you have to do anything in the Workout app to get the power meter fields to show up?
Yes and on the Ultra, you actually have to scroll up so that the end workout button is fully visible and therefore actionable. I reported this as a bug..I really don't understand the change to make ending workouts a two tap process now. Also why move the new workout button into this screen instead of having it separate? I'm constantly misclicking due to how they've moved the UI around for no discernible benefit. Guess my muscle memory should just die.
And if swiping between faces doesn't come back there will be rage. It's probably my most used gesture.
THIS!!! Let me know if you figure things out. The main reason I carry the watch is so i could stream music from my watch (downloaded) while leaving my phone in the locker.Only semi-regret so far on diving in on beta 1 is that it’s a major PIA getting Apple Music to stream from my ultra and to switch/disconnect from the phone. Takes me like 10 minutes of trial and error before I begin my workout each morning. I still don’t know how I actually accomplish this eventually. You click the top right icon and nothing happens. Fuss around with AirPlay in the CP. Select AirPod Pros. Getting to that screen where it says Apple Watch or iPhone is a mystery.
Fingers crossed Beta 2 makes some headway. Frustrating but comes with the territory of agreeing to be a beta tester.

Now its all but impossible after this beta. Most days it will either give me an error while trying to play, or it wont find my downloaded playlist, only the stream from the Iphone (which is useless since it stops once im out of Bluetooth range), its a mess, most days I just get frustrated and bring the phone along, defeating the purpose.
Ahh great idea, thanks!!!If you put your phone in Airplane mode before you workout, everything will be forced to the watch!
Ahh great idea, thanks!!!
I had not thought about that at all, can't wait to try it tomorrow. It works! Great work around for now. I may just continue to do this going forward. Even under OS 9, I had to click around on the watch to get it to play from the watch before my workout. 10 is just a mess right now for this.

Still wish i could connect to the wifi at the gym so i could stream apple music directly and not be limited to whats on my watch but, this will definitely work until then. Thanks again for the tip
