I just placed a call for my 3rd Imac (First 2 had the yellow screen).
Apple recommended to swap it again.
I cannot believe that they are still shipping machines with this issue.
They know about it and even told me that my machine fell within the batches affected yet they still shipped it that way.
Way to go Apple!
Their QC is non-existent and they just don't seem to care. You could probably swap 20 machines and they would just tell you to get another.
Mine is W8946. A standard i5 which behaves perfectly... for now!
That is either a backlight problem or a defective LCD panel.
LG makes the crappiest LCD panels and Apple chose to partner with them.
No wonder.
You get what you pay for - Cheap is crap
Also I had one and it was crappy also (severe backlight beed) and spotlighting in all 4 corners.
It too was uneven from top to bottom but at least it did not look pissed on.
Didn't those screens also suffer from uneven colors/gradient ?Afaik, LG made the panels in the 24" iMac and these were great !
No yellow tint that I know of. I'll only know 100% if I get my hands on a nice DSLR camera. I think the iphone's image sensor isn't dynamic enough to get a clean image, but the pictures I have taken with my iPhone don't have any tinting so far.
Thank god we have such an enlighted person... . You sir are just a hypocrite, now matter how you try to spin it.Another one who apparently can't read.
Great to hear you're happy with it. But beware! A swarm of zealots are about to descend on you to convince you that you DO have the Yellow Peril and should be returning your iMac as faulty. Re-visit this site at your own risk because I assure you they will not rest until you do their yellow test and your Christmas is ruined.
Begone while the going is good and enjoy your wonderful iMac![]()
Yes. I had one (three after swapping) of those "great" 24" iMacs and they all had this gradient issue. On top of that they had yellowish/brownish corners and the screen burned in after a few weeks of use. They replaced the lcd panel and it had tons of hot subpixels. I decided to get it fixed again and after that I sold it (it had dust and dirt behind the glass.)Didn't those screens also suffer from uneven colors/gradient ?
