i am from canada , i also ordered a mac pro in mid september which i am awaiting for ... first was being built over seas they said took longer , then same day right away was actually couple of weeks before i refused as they had no answer where it had been for couple weeks being it was a 3 day delivery, after numerous calls to apple and them receiving the return they notified me to say they had new one to replace .. when i questioned where it was coming from as i added much to it , was told cali .. and they do not custom make in shanghi ..again 2 more calls to sales and was confirmed they are made in shanghi , but not according to customer service .. does anyone know where the customized ones are made , please need answer ...

That's odd. I ordered mine in early October and it has been here for a week now and I live in Canada too. What configuration did you order?

congrats! that's a lot of 500GB hard drives...have fun!

haha yeah. drive 3 will probs get halfed for windows for the apps we need to use. then the rest for OSX. Its gonna be holding one hell of a lot of pictures. We shoot in RAW so take up a fair bit of room. And because we store a lot of crap aswell, and this is gonna last us about 6 years, get as much space that seems reasonable... 2Tb would of been just for kicks really. ah well, never know... may throw in another 500 later

cant wait till the beast arrives at our front door

When mine shipped I received an email which stated it would be delivered by Sameday in Canada and it provided a tracking number. I checked the tracking number everyday and it said the same thing; Sameday had not received the package yet. I called Apple and they said Sameday will not receive the package until it clears customs (takes 4-7 business days) and then it is usually delivered the next day. This is exactly what happened, on Monday 16th it showed up on the Sameday tracking site and it was delivered the next day. Sameday received the package in Mississauga Ontario and delivered it to me in Ottawa. Where it was before that I cannot say.

Recieved my email today to say its been shipped. However, email says 7th Nov at the latest and on the order status on the net shows 5th Nov.

Still a WEEK over the original estimated date. Ah well.

Its on its way!!

This thread looked as good as any to say hello. I just purchased a slightly used Mac Pro. Waiting for shipping (hope I did not get ripped off, time will tell). This will be my first Apple product and I am a bit anxious. I plan on using this to host multiple virtual machines (Linux/BSD/MS) using either Parallel or Vmware once its available. My question is I still have some data on my old PATA drive that I will need to transfer over. Will I need to purchase a USB drive cage or can I connect it to an existing IDE port, if there is one?

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

The wait is killin' me!

So, I received my ACD a couple days ago and it's been sitting on my desk next to my old iMac just taunting me. Apple shipped in FedEx 2 Day.

I just looked and my Mac Pro arrived in Portland 8 Nov. Apple shipped that FedEx Ground. Are they actually driving from Portland to Anchorage? That's over 2500 miles!!! Anchorage is the biggest FedEx hub in the world and there are many FedEx planes landing every day. It seems like it would be more cost effective to stick it on one of those planes.

Here's the kicker...I have a 3-day weekend for Veteran's Day and FedEx says I'm supposed to receive the Mac Pro on the 13th...MONDAY!! Noooooooooo!

Arrrrgh....help me what can I do to stay sane.

Ordered a Mac Pro, spent more than I had but I'm still excited. ;) I had a sudden, pressing need for a machine that could dual boot into Windows, and had been eyeing the Mac Pro for a while. I'd wanted to wait until Leopard hit, but given the circumstances, I needed the machine now... and as this forum is so fond of saying to those who are waiting for the next big upgrade, "BUY IT WHEN YOU NEED IT!" :D

Got the standard dual 2.66's, plus the Radeon, WiFi/Bluetooth, and the Wireless keyboard/mouse. Also got a refurb Dell 2407 to go with it. Didn't upgrade to more RAM, just because I don't have the money for it at the moment—I'll be evaluating its performance and deciding if I want to slap in 2 or 4. Will putting in 2 MORE GB (totalling 3GB, 2x512 and 2x1GB) be a detriment to performance vs. an even number? Not much experience with dual-channel.

Mine too! On vehicle for delivery as of 3:50 AM this morning! Guess I'll just have to hook it up to the HDTV in the living room for initial setup.

Like that's a BAD thing. :D

Got it

Mine arrived at 0930...it found someone's wireless network in my neighborhood so I haven't hooked up my ISP yet.

I setup AppleTalk with my 'ol iMac and transferred some stuff over via Ethernet.

I have a lot to learn about this new OS coming from 10.2.8! There's all kinds of new stuff.

Off to play...
