If I'm perfectly honest, at this point in time, there are probably only two devices that'll actually get me to pull the trigger.

The S7 and the nexus 2016. And neither are definites.

However, I am interested and excited for:

iPhone 7
Moro x 2016
Sony Xperia z 2016 (especially the compact)

And I guess to some extent htc one 2016. But only to see if they can dig themselves out. It'll be near impossible to convince me at this point to get an htc device!

Also should be interesting to see how huawei follows up the nexus 6p in America. They have a name here now small though it may be. Where will they go from here...?

Just as I predicted. Little design changes for the s7. They'll focus more on internals.

http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s7-edge-design-little-overhaul-659250/

And hopefully that earlier rumor about working with Google to optimize touch wiz is true too.

S7 could be an amazing device.

Htc especially should be shaking in their boots. They have absolutely no room for error this year.
This.... ^^^^^ HTC needs to not just hit a homerun but more like a grand slam to remain in the picture at all.

I'm am dreaming that the HTC One M10 will be as ground breaking awesome as the One M8 was two years ago.

The concept renderings of the One M9 last year looked awesome, but the phone never looked even close to those, but if they do that for the One M10, with the SD820, 4GB RAM, a 5.2" size screen, running Android Marshmallow with Sense 8, it could be a winner.

Other than that, I will admit I am anticipating the OnePlus Three, if it follows the design of the OnePlus X, with the flat back, and metal build, but with 5.5" AMOLED screen, and SD820, that could be a real winner too.

I think the renders was part of the problem for HTC. The renders were so much nicer than the actual released product. It set high expectations for everyone. Then there was a big let down after the actual release of the M9.

I wonder if HTC has seen these renders. They must have... right?

It'll be really interesting to see how they evolve from the tired One design.

For me at least, this is exactly what happened. Not only did it not look anything like those cool renders, it actually ended up looking very (read: too) similar to the the previous One M8 design, which was already too similar to the One M7 design.

I said this when the M9 came out and I'll say it again here: HTC, you are not Apple. You can't recycle the same look, and you definitely can't do it for 3 years in a row.

The only saving grace (for lack of better term) for HTC is that they have a new president calling the shots. Hopefully fresh management will lead to a fresh new and effective design. They have no room for error.

.

I'd have bought that phone if the renders had turned out to be true. I agree, the "real" M9 was such a let down in looks and performance.

oh....and one more thing...... :)
HTC needs to fire their whole advertising agency. Thye need to drum up some positive air time to get people excited about there designs and products. Look at the new LG V10. LG has some very nice commercials out that generate positive attention on the V10.

I can't wait to see what kind of amazing $20 flip phones 2016 has in store (at the gas station).

Yup. 100% agree. Htc has a lot they need to get right in 2016.

I don't think they can pull it off honestly. And I'm tired of saying "maybe they'll get it right next year." They don't really deserve any more chances.

Yeah...it's a sad state but HTC has basically been dead man walking for a good year or two. They don't have it within them to dig out of this grave. At this point it's between LG and Samsung (both have very deep pockets comparatively and lots of their business is outside the mobile industry) at the higher end and the Chinese OEMS starting to dominate everything else, at least in the US.

Are we sure this isn't just an S6? I mean look at it:
Same screen size
Same size bezels
Same shape
Same speaker positioning
Still micro-USB
IR blaster retained
Same camera protrusion

Pretty much goes against everything I was expecting for the S7!

Yeah. The rumor is that the S7 will change very little design-wise. This could hurt Samsung, but apparently the rumor is that they're putting their money/focus on software improvements for the S7, an area that they've been criticized for lack of optimization, bloatware, etc. So maybe this is a good thing.

We'll see how it plays out.

Having just picked up a Lumia 950XL I'll just be observing next year to see what comes out. The most interesting phone for me will be the mystical Surface Phone, that looks like it'll become a reality now the Surface team have been given the nod to develop a phone.
The only other one I'll keep an eye on is the next iPhone. That's the only alternative I'll look at if I decide to ditch the Lumia for any reason. So far I don't see that happening, I'm set for apps as I'm not a heavy app user and have what I need on Windows 10 Mobile. Hopefully the bridge to port iOS apps doesn't go the way of the Android bridge and get shelved indefinitely. iOS apps have always been better than Android, so if there's ever a choice for Windows I'd rather they be ported. Hopefully it happens, and Universal app support picks up with developers. The OS is very nice, even in it's infancy. It can only improve from here, if not it's dead, then I'll get another iPhone.

iPhone 7 - I decided to skip the 6s so will be buying the 7 for sure

Note 6 - always excited to see where the Note goes

Lumias - secretly hoping that Windows Mobile and their phones suddenly turn full awesome as I do like their design language. Would love to see Continuum becoming something really useful too.

I was quasi tempted for the 6s, but it makes more sense to wait. If I was going to switch carriers and get my kids phones, them maybe, but we decided to hold off.

I have never had a Sony Xperia so I am getting more and more interested in the Z5 Premium.
Galaxy S7
Note 6
iPhone 7 UNLESS the rumors are true and they get rid of the headphone jack and use the lightning port instead. Will be a dealbreaker for me.
