3.7GHz 6-core, 8GB RAM, 580X, 512GB SSD. I’ll upgrade the RAM to 32GB later this year.

I’m loving it!! It’s an amazing AIO computer. Hard to believe this tapered edge design was released in 2012 and it still looks modern!!

One could also say it’s hard to believe that Apple is keeping that ugly bezel in 2019 when every other company is making edge to edge displays

Just ordered the 3.7 i5/8G/1TBSSD/580x from Expercom and saved ~$400 (discount and taxes). Also 16x2g RAM Crucial from Amazon and a Samsung 1TB T5.

I actually was holding out on my 2011 iMac, but yesterday my graphics card bonked. While I was able to revive the unit by the bizarre DIY fix of removing and "literally baking the card in the oven" - i know it will happen again sooner than later and decided to pull the trigger on a new one.

I want to thank this forum. Directly or indirectly I have learned so much from many of you while I've pondered this purchase for a long while. I was going to go "fully loaded", but several really thoughtful and helpful posts about real world differences between i5/i9 - Vega/580x, helped me also then do some honest assessments about how I use these things (ie: I'm not making Pixar movies or editing U2 albums).

Being able to come here to lurk, ask questions and learn has been the best, and felt the need to share my gratitude.

iMac 27-inch Retina 5k 3.6GHz 8-core (Early 2019)
3.6GHz 8-core 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processorTurbo Boost up to 5.0GHz
8GB (2x4GB Apple) memory
512GB SSD storage
Radeon Pro Vega 48 with 8GB HBM2 memory
Apple Magic Mouse 2, Magic Keyboard
APPLECARE+ FOR IMAC AUTOENROLL

This is from Expercom with ~$200 savings over the Apple store directly.

How do you get $200 saving? I kept checking the same built and there's only $150 off, similarly to Adorama with "APINSIDER" promo.

Apple Care is a little bit cheaper and because of both those savings the tax also ends up being less. I saved closer to $230 in reality.

Thanks for posting. Enjoy it. While I prefer minimal bezels on laptops, I do not mind the iMac chin.

If this one software company fixes their app to work with Mojave, I may just order an iMac locally next week. I was so frazzled, I missed the delivery windows from Apple by cancelling several orders. That’s what I get for my impatience and angst (Cannot find a PC that works for me).

I returned my 27" i9 512GB SSD 580x iMac.

Kind of wish I had ordered the Vega GPU instead, and the 512GB just didn't seem to be enough.

Not sure what configuration I'm going to order now. Thinking i5 Vega 1TB SSD, or i9 Vega 512GB SSD. I really can't afford the i9/Vega/1TB combo.

I definitely will be getting the Vega GPU upgrade because it sounds more future proof and I like that it runs cooler than the 580X.

Hello Spiderpumpkin. Did you return your iMac because of this reason alone (you want Radeon Vega instead of 580X)? Or are there more things you encountered? The 580X didn't seem enough. I hope the Vega will.

The i5 should be powerful enough for most applications, but then it always depends on your intended use. But for the SSD, you can always get an external T5 or X5 if you need more space.

I just ordered the i5/Vega/1TB. No express delivery option this time around for some reason.

I also spent an additional $20 and ordered someone's 8GB of RAM, that they removed from a 2019 iMac, so I will have a total of 16GB(4x4GB).

question to anyone who purchased from Expercom: how long did it take before you saw any change in your status from "pending" to something different?

Mine took about an hour to change to “Processed”, I ordered last Monday. I called them Friday and they said Apple was still building it and hadn’t shipped it yet. Up to 14 business days was the timeframe they gave.

- this is why I'm concerned. I ordered mine last week as well, and mine still says "Pending" several days later. I, too, called and was told something similar to you and that'll be here sometime the week of the 27th, but with Memorial Day this weekend, I'm guessing it will end up be towards the end of that week.

Mine is not being shipped to my house, so I’m hoping it arrives at Expercom this week. That’ll allow me to pick it up and have it for the holiday weekend.
[doublepost=1558370594][/doublepost]I just received this email in response to one I sent last week:

Thanks for reaching out to us. That computer is going to be shipped from our distributor, which usually takes about 7 days from the day the order was placed. As soon as it does ship, we will be forwarding you the tracking information so you can track its progress.

Thanks,
Expercom

8GB (2x4GB Apple) memory (adding my own)
1 TB SSD storage
580x

I went with the 1TB SSD.
I was already going to get the 512GB ssd....

So the 1TB was $400 more, but, if i was going to get the T5, then it's really $300 more, then i figured in how much slower the T5 would be, and if you wanted something that could actually come close to matching the speed of the internal Ssd, you'd have to go with the X5, which is $200+, so that makes the cost more like under $200, and it's still faster and i don't have to mess around.

Ordered from Expercom on the 15th and is in process.

My BTO was placed on 3/31. It shipped on 4/4 and I received it on 4/12. UPS Shipping to Pennsylvania.

huh? did I miss something? delayed?

They’ve been busy building up inventory of new Macbook Pros. Maybe upcoming MacPros too.

The last iMac I ordered was built and shipped to me quickly from China in like 3 days. There’s not even an express shipping option on custom SSD orders. My new order is just sitting there, unbuilt, and not progressing.

I ordered mine last Monday, it will be delivered tomorrow. So ~1.5 weeks from order to delivery for a BTO iMac.

edit: It shipped from Shanghai sometime last week and began shipment from Memphis last Friday.

edit2: FedEx updated their tracking info to a confusing mess of Shanghai, Oakland CA, Memphis TN, and finally saying it arrived in S.L.C., UT. The confusing part is that it was shipped from China->California, then back to China, and then again to California... (was something forgotten in China...?! lol)
