Wow I had no idea a
I use it to sometimes increase signal of our router in dead spots of our house where my mother's iPhone X for example tends to lose signal, I have my old S7 Edge working as a signal extender, sharing it's WiFi connection to our router with her iPhone X. It also comes in handy if I want to ensure I control a guest's WiFi access at home or at work e.g. if a freelancer or client comes in and requires WiFi yet does not have a profile in our network I am authorised to setup a connection for them and I usually just set my phone or laptop up to share the WiFi connection, as the Guest WiFi is horribly slow.

Very useful feature. :)
Wow I had no idea about that function, thanks. That would be massively useful for me to have.

Oh I guess a good use case. I have a grid in my house (2 floors 3500 sq ft) so WiFi is available everywhere plus outside for about 60 feet. So I don’t need that type of functionality.

Anybody tried Google Clock app with Spotify musical alarm integration?

https://newsroom.spotify.com/2018-0...ack-with-spotify-and-clock-app-from-googletm/

Tip: You need to have the latest version of Google Clock and Spotify apps installed. Run Spotify and login. Then, when setting an alarm in Google Clock there should now be a Spotify tab when changing ringtone.

Currently, my favorite feature of some Android OEMs (stock Android does NOT support this) is the dual apps on dual SIM phones. Many apps like whatsapp relies on the SIM/phone number for an account. In stock Android, you can only create one account. In custom Android like Samsung's and MiUI, they provide a way to have two whatsapp accounts for each SIM/phone number. Really handy, especially for personal and work whatsapp. Whatsapp is just an example. Usually these dual app feature also supports Facebook Messenger, Line, Wechat, etc.

Of course, this is not doable in iOS, as Apple just support dual SIM this year. It will take Apple probably few more years to have the dual apps feature, if ever.

You don't need dual sim for that. Just an alternate number for apps like Whatsapp. (like Google Voice, Skype, or etc)

On the galaxy you can have 3 copies of same app running at same time with different accounts/login. 2 outside and one in secure folder.

Just setup WhatsApp repeatedly by inserting 3 sim cards one at a time. Others like Line / Facebook just setup each one with different login.

I am not sure if I really can't do those stuff or I have not found a way to do them (I have not used iOS long enough). I bought my first iOS device 3 weeks ago. It is 2018 iPad with Apple pencil. Now I like using the pencil and I enjoy the apps that allow me to do this. I hate the iOS experience. That OS makes me go insane. I do accept the fact that I am a newbie so most probably at least half of the frustration is due to lack of knowledge but man even google could not provide me with good answers on this. Granted I am also a rather specific user that does things in a particular manner and that might be a reason why iOS is weird for me.

1. Settings menu. It's a hot mess there. I want to control my apps in the app User interface. Not in the Settings menu. The fact that I have to go to the Settings menu (3/4 times every day at least) to change the way the apps work is frustrating. And as a whole the Settings menu is just too cluttered and just not intuitive. I have installed like 40 apps and seeing all of them in the Settings menu (and with some weird grouping that only Apple could explain) is just not useful for me. I want to be able to access the apps settings from the app itself.
2. I know that a lot of people enjoy 3D touch but I don't. It's rather slow and I don't feel any sort of feedback (vibration) on the screen so I never know if it works or not. On my Android phone I use the vibration whenever I try to use the long touch I always feel it and I know that it's activated. And as a whole btw it is one tad faster on Android compared to iOS. Quite often I feel like waiting for something to happen. So yeah I want to feel that vibration and I want it to be faster.
3. Control center. I seriously can't find the usefulness of this. I have Bluetooth headset that I connect interchangeably to my iPad, my primary phone and my second phone (used as a portable player basically). I want to be able to quickly switch on/off the Bluetooth connection. I can't do that with this iPad. I can only forget the device which is not what I want. Luckily I have NFC on my two phones and the headset is NFC too so I can use the NFC to overwrite the Bluetooth connection of the iPad. Nevertheless that's frustrating. I want to be able to disconnect Bluetooth devices one by one.
4. I want to be able to go from Control center to Settings (touching the Bluetooth icon to be a sort of shortcut to the Settings menu for example). I cannot make this work. I read that it's possible but for the life of me it does not happen when I try to do it.
5. Lack of proper files access app.
6. Screen rotating to be a bit faster. For some reason it's a tad slower on the iPad compared to my Android phone and that annoys me. That might be iPad specific and not iOS specific though.
7. Sharing of files between apps is just not easy. I want to be able to download files from the browser, access them through to the Files app and then open them in any app that can do so. And for some reason I just can't do this on the iPad. It's actually a reason why the iPad cannot replace laptop for me. Now I have to download stuff from my computer, upload them in my cloud storage and then to access them from the drive on the iPad. That just slows down my working process. Just yesterday I opened an email with attached file. Touching the file does nothing. I open the email on my Android phone. I use long touch for the file and I have the options to copy the link, to download it, to share the link, to open it in a new tab, to open it in a new incognito tab. That's what I want and need.
8. I find it really hard to edit text that I have written. On Android I see the cursor all the time and I can move it from left to right to the point where I want to edit. I also visually know where to touch to move the cursor. That does not happen in iOS. I need to first long touch to zoom in and then if I am lucky I might be able to put it where I want it to be. It's easier to just delete the whole word and start typing it again. Faster too.

I can turn night into day...

These were both shot at 10 at night, within seconds of each other. This is the night sight mode on the Pixel camera (I have a 2 XL).

Google presented this at the event, some people dismissed it, but it works...

You can't run full Linux desktop on iPhone/iPad. You can do it like this on Note 9 and TabS4 (and maybe soon on other galaxy)

There are long exposure apps on android and iOS that support OIS, so that really isn’t a unique feature to google only.

I actually like some of the apps on iOS better, despite having it on the native camera on my Pixel 3z

How on earth are some basic apps comparable to the Pixel's Night Sight that gives a HUGE jump in night time photography to phones??? Please explain to me, because I nearly fell off my couch reading this response

What the Pixel does is a whole different ball game!

Please do some reading on it:
At the outset, Night Sight is not merely a long-exposure mode for your phone. What Google has built is a vastly more intelligent sibling to the brutish long exposure. In the past, you’d have needed a tripod to stabilize your camera to obtain multiple seconds’ worth of light information and thus get a brighter image at night than the human eye can see. Google is achieving similar results with a handheld Pixel by segmenting the exposure into a burst of consecutively taken frames, which are then reassembled into a single image using the company’s algorithmic magic. It’s an evolution of the HDR+ processing pipeline that’s used in the main Pixel camera, with some unique upgrades added in.

It's something that's going to help move Smartphones Night Time Photography further.

This is absolutely incredible man! Great to see how much more detail and sharpness it brings, this is huge but of course the iPhone will have to get it before it is truly praised around here.

For now you Pixel users are very lucky.

The Mate 20 Pro's Night Mode pales embarrassingly in comparison and it was probabone of the best before this arrived

Cannot wait to see how much further it can be taken with more powerful hardware.

Hotspot works very well and SP is a much better bet than Dex Linux. (especially when you need to pull over and take care of a situation.;))

Point is you can do this hybrid on ONE device. Whether it can be as flexible or powerful as two or more dedicated devices setup is left to be seen.

I don't do much development but I can see the usefulness of this. You can run your Android apps together with the Linux and share files between them while developing application.

And with 1TB supported on note 9, you have enough usable disk space too.

I have set it up and having a desktop UI on a big monitor plus ability to run desktop versions of browsers and applications sure is exciting.

The point is I have two powerful devices instead of one compromised device and can use them anywhere there is a signal. And I the same 1tb is supported space is available with the phone of my choice.

At any rate as was said previously it’s a great geek exercise but i find my choice of devices are better than a compromise.

What compromise are you talking about?
Linux on Dex runs full Linux with a fast desktop like performance too.

This is just evolution of convergence. First it was the laptop replacing desktop to hybrid replacing laptop and tablet. Now, we're at phone that can replace laptop/desktop (Note 9, Mate 20 series) or new hybrid that can replace laptop/tablet and phone (Windows 10 on ARM always-on devices).

Please tell me that you understand that is only an application.

You can install the p3 camera application onto non pixel devices (including devices without the pixel core) and it works just fine. It is combinatinaton of long exposure, hdr, noise cancellation , and immediate post processing. Stuff that has been done on 3rd party applications on both platforms, some point and shoot cameras, and software for years, with various levels of success.

No denying the app is amazing from google (as it requires zero user intervention), however the algryhim has essentially existed in google photos, 3rd party applications, and even Lightroom for years now. They definitely upped the anti by doing a tile approach, however as a concept is not new in the realm of Photograhy.
