One of the first things I missed from Android is LastPass integration. It makes logging into Web sites and apps so very easy while still keeping all my passwords together in one place across devices. iOS is not quite there yet. TouchID hardware is wonderful, but it was still faster to look up passwords with my Android phone and type them by hand than to switch back and forth between LastPass and other apps and fiddle with Copy/Paste.

iCloud keychain, works like a dream.

Guess what? I also have loading screens on my Nexus!

Swiftkey isn't native to Android yet Android fans touted it as a feature for years!

Also using Gnow in conjunction with Siri is amazing..

Loading screen for Google apps on nexus? It's possible if it's the first time you run the app.
For me they go straight to the content. (maps, chrome, music, photos, G+, drive, gmail, youtube, etc.

On my iPad the loading screen comes up every time I switch back from another app. That happens to maps and gmail. Might be my iPad's inferior specs but that really killed the experience especially when you need to multi task.

Nope not for me. There is a delay when opening YouTube and G+ just doesn't load instantaneously. Chrome ALSO shows a loading screen for a split second.

The loading screens are different but perhaps easier to notice on iOS? I don't know.

A cool thing I miss from iOS was the ability to play only the audio of the video with the toggles found on the lockscreen using the double press on the home button. Playing the video and listening only to the audio while the screen is off can be really good for music videos and comedy standups. And also double tap on the status bar to go back to the top.

Android isn't always consistent with its navigation and UI schemes. And Android updates are never really the same or released around the same time. Sometimes some apps won't work for each update or each custom skin/ROM. MoboPlayer's mini-player, DynamicNotifications, and Greeenify doesn't really work for MIUI. It takes time to get used to each Android flavor's quirks.

Still I would rather have a few tradeoffs if both Androids can use QuickPic, Nova Prime, All in One Gestures, ES File Explorer, App Backup & Restore, Screen Off & Lock, TubeMate, hide apps/clutter, do shortcuts, do OTG, be read as a mass storage, have a BACK action instead of only a HOME action, Bluetooth transfer, and so on and so on...

I used to love iPhones. I remember the day they announced it and my jaw dropped when I saw the photo of the iPhone showing Cover Flow. I remember downloading the commercials with Orba Squara's "Perfect Timing" and looping them on my PSP. I used to have Intelliscreen back when I was on 1.1.4. I followed both iOS and Android during the beginning. I still do LOVE iPhone's hardware. It is iOS that I am no longer in love with. Too crippling, linear patterns, and restrictive in some of the most BASIC actions.

Fair enough there are many restrictions. But I am happy with the way iOS functions.

^^ there are a couple apps on android that allow that. I used them but have since deleted them as I didn't use them often.

^^ more phone & carrier related than android OS related.

^^ true, but the advantage is you do get a choice of different flavors of phones and hardware depending on your needs.

The "advantage" you refer to is not really one for me. The advantage I like is the dearth of accessories and apps.

I believe it. Apple is successful for a reason. They know their target audience. It's the same reason the Toyota Camry sells so dang well.

Also BMW. Sales just blow the doors off of its competitors. So is the IOS or android the Camry?

BMW's are a dime a dozen luxury car knock off units. Not surprising. They are what Yuppies buy to match their McMansion. Please. iPhone's are still Camry's in device form.....waiting on a Camry buyer to chime in a and brag about his Hybrid Drive

Update: Issue solved

That's odd. So when you open iCloud on your Mac, does it show your picture and login address? The picture seen there is what shows up in the share sheet on the device from which I'm sharing.

This is different for me recently. Before Yosemite and 8.1 officially released I would see different pictures for each of my devices. I wonder if they did something behind the scenes to streamline the process.

I also have all my devices listed as trusted devices on my AppleID profile at appleid.apple.com. I don't know if that has anything to do with it?

That's bummer. For the most part, it's really worked well for me though admittedly best between iOS devices. As mentioned, I have had hiccups on occasion but nothing that I haven't been able to resolve relatively quickly.

Hope it works itself out for you as well. I have to admit considering most of your posts recently that I figured you were likely all in on either the Note 4 or possibly the Nexus 6. You would admittedly have fewer issues going that route considering the extra flexibility offered by Android.

Hi guys, I finally got this to work!!

Someone on the support forums had solved this problem (different device combo though) by turning off SMB in System Prefs/Sharing. I went there to test it but it had no effect. Then I went into Bluetooth Sharing just for the heck of it, and then into Bluetooth Preferences. BAM the Mac immediately popped up on the iPad! It must have been prompted to ping the iPad in order to refresh the Devices list, and thus revealed itself. I then closed Prefs and turned off and on again AirDrop on the iPad. No dice. Back into Bluetooth Preferences and it worked immediately again. Finally I turned on Bluetooth Sharing (When receiving items: Never Allow/When other devices browse: Never Allow) and now it works all the time!

Maybe I'm a dope for not checking those settings in the first place, but nowhere in the documentation does it say that BT sharing needs to be on for AirDrop to work, right?

Anyway thanks for your help guys, finally nailed that sucka :D

BTW I also tested transfering .doc .docx .png .jpeg .zip .gpx (Guitar Pro) and .x32 (obscure subtitling industry format) and they all worked, straight from Mail as attachments. That's one deal breaker gone from the 6 Plus for me, thanks Yosemite & iOS 8 :)

Going to add something that I can do on Android but not iOS: change the brightness or check notifications without interrupting a movie/stream.

I haven't used an iPhone since my 4S and am just borrowing an iPad Air at the moment (iOS 8), so I only just realised this was the case. Whenever I pull up Control Center or pull down Notifications, the stream/movie stops. That's pretty annoying as I often like to micro manage the brightness - to not disturb my gf when she sleeps next to me or just for the comfort of my own eyes in a dark room for example (auto setting does not cut it in these situations) - and on iOS this means that I lose the flow of whatever I'm watching. It feels like an annoying interruption.

Also annoying is how Control Center dims the rest of the screen when it is pulled up. It creates the illusion that the brightness of the larger portion of the screen is being adjusted in real time, but then when you lower Control Center it turns out to be much brighter. And the slider is so short that precision becomes difficult (on iPad). Often when I reach the exact point I was after, the setting is accidentally moved quite a lot as I lift my finger off the slider. Because of these two things I usually have to go back and readjust the brightness several times before I reach my intended level.

For Notifications, on my Note 2 I find it very handy that I can check them and change settings/brightness/cell data on off + other quick settings while running a stream uninterrupted, for instance during a moment when there's not so much happening in it. Having it stop in the background just adds a short 'wtf' moment which compromises the experience a bit IMO, and you lose track of things which the audio would otherwise have conveyed.

Disclaimer: I am not a OS warrior, my intention is constructive discussion and not bashing iOS while glorifying Android.

Yep, and BMW stock is proving what you are saying. It's the old, tired analogy of discussing the buyers and not the cars.

If iphones are Camry's then any android devices are Accords. I'm waiting for an accord buyer to chime in and brag about VCM.

Please. Stop with the tired car analogies.
As I stated earlier, there are some things that iOS is good at and there are somethings that Android is good at. I prefer iOS because it works best for the things I do. I don't fault you for choosing Android, so why fault me for choosing iOS?

if you were in Ohio, I'd gladly show you an S4 that you can try all you want to catch at mid ohio or on the short track. heaven knows in my group of several hundred, people keep trying ;) SCCA Points > BMW Stock Value all day long. Then I'd take you to Mid Ohio and you can experience a Boosted C6Z06 Wipe up a few higher dollar rides.

Cars are fun dude.

I'm not faulting you for choosing iOS. Knock yourself out. Now if you drive a Camry or Accord......snooze......

What does the S4 have to do with anything, hope it makes it home and doesn't break down.

BTW, I drive an S5, however, I always have a tow truck following me.

^^ you must not know how to care and operate the device properly. but then 335i peeps were used to overheating and frothing oil in them too. If it's an S5, let's hope you at least got the 3.0T vs the V8 dog.

I'll agree that the adjustment slider can be a little finicky--don't lift your finger off perfectly and the setting can wobble a bit. However, when I touch the slider to adjust the brightness, the dimming prompted by opening Control Center goes away and is replaced by the true screen brightness, for as long as my finger is on the slider. Is it not doing this for you?

Forgive me in case anything has changed as it's been a few months since I've used Android with any regularity but doesn't the notification/quick settings panel fill the entire screen when pulled down? Wouldn't it then obscure whatever you were watching?

The notification shade hides once you move the brightness bar allowing you to see whatever is on the screen, at least on L.

Gotcha. I have a stock Android tablet to reference and knew the panel was only a portion of the screen on that device, just couldn't recall exactly how it appeared/worked on the Note 2 or other Android phones for that matter.
