U.K. band called Slugdge. Delightfully surprised that this track sounds like Bolt Thrower riff-wise (especially in the beginning) before going off into Mastadon territory. Cool to hear a vocalist whose dual styles of clean and harsh work together...that's pretty rare.

Never heard of these guys before, thanks for the introduction! The video you linked is unfortunately not available in Finland, but I listened to some other tracks and they sounded good. Mentioning Bolt Thrower and Mastodon got my juices flowing, and I wasn't disappointed. It's so rare nowadays to find new metal acts that spark any kind of instant interest, but this a band I'm going to get to know a little better.

I've been blasting Necrophagia this evening since reading about Killjoy's untimely passing. May he rest in piece, his legacy will live on.

I tape traded with Killjoy in the 80s - he was a nice guy. I do not remember much else as this was at least 30 years ago. Sad to hear about his passing. Way too soon.

I agree with you about current metal bands and the lack of instant interest.

Oh man, tape trading. That takes me back. Cool that you traded with Killjoy, everyone I know that has met him says he was a really great dude.

Tape trading..........how cool was that?

Yes, I did it, too, - mostly with college friends - and had great fun crafting tapes, monitoring music, mixes, and times of pieces of music - but never with someone who became something of a legend.

It really was a great way to get to know new music, and at the same time introduce other people to music you already knew. And I don't care if it's nostalgia speaking or not, but the hours spent seeking out songs, recording them on tape from the radio or other tapes was great! There's really no way to replicate that experience with Spotify, Apple Music etc. Which is kind of a shame.

I couldn't agree more. Loved making tapes - and receiving tapes as gifts.

People who gave such gifts usually knew and loved music, and they were personal (yet not costly) in a way much else is not.

Indeed. What I loved about it is that it literally opened up the entire world for me. I traded with people in South America, Canada, Europe and the U.S. - made some friends and discovered great bands. The extreme metal scene (death metal etc.) was a great scene to be a part of, very much like family. Almost everyone knew each other at gigs and it was always fun to bump into local bands at horror conventions and stuff too.

I miss that connection and the joy of discovering a cool new metal band almost every week.

But, before I listen to anything new, I wanted to re-visit an old piece I have long loved. This is "David's Song" by Vladimir Kosma, and it was the awesome theme (soundtrack) to the TV (British) series "Kidnapped" (based on R L Stevenson's story of the same name and, to my mind, an excellent interpretation).

Saying hello to one of the Baroque CDs that was lying on the sofa in its package awaiting me when I returned home last night.

This is "Ostinato - Hespèrion XXI" by Jordi Savall. The actual piece of music that I am listening to just now is called "Canarios" and is....quite lovely.

Milky Chance - Stolen Dance (Album Version):-

Redfoo - Bring out the bottles
