Well, just now, I am listening to the sublime 'Sanctus' and the electric 'Hymn Before Action' (that's ominous) from "The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace" by the wonderful Karl Jenkins.
Three years ago (well, Christmas Day in 2012) I was privileged to hear a stunning live interpretation of the 'Sanctus' by Karl Jenkins - the kind that sends shivers up your spine - at Christmas Mass.
As it happens, for a variety of reasons, I am not much of a church goer, but, as Henry IV (one of the most attractive monarchs ever to sit the throne of France) observed when abjuring his Huguenot faith - 'Paris is worth a Mass'. Well, I think Christmas Day is worth one, too.
However, since 2012, it has not been possible to attend such services, as my Mother - who suffers from advanced dementia - cannot be left alone, and it is, unfortunately, rather difficult, to get support on Christmas Day. Such is life.
