Having fun with the podcasts from the Washington Post's "Presidential" series, an episode for each of the USA presidents from Washington to Obama, released weekly as we head towards the 2016 elections. They're only at John Quincy Adams now, so there's still time to catch up! In the link below you can either subscribe via iTunes or listen right on the WaPo site via SoundCloud.

There's a barebones reading list to go along with the project, in case you're like me and realize what you know about some of these guys is limited to even less than now dis-remembered dates of events like "The Lousiana Purchase" or "The Teapot Dome Scandal".

Since the 'mic on piano' mishap for Adele at the Grammy's, I have been listening to my CD of John Cage's "Sonatas and Interludes for Prepared Piano" (the one I have is out of print). Here is a live performance video:

Some rollicking classical music from the Romantic era (an a splendid antidote to those who believe that classical music, must, by definition, be depressing, gloomy or boring).

Anyway, I bring to you the wonderfully effervescent "Donna Diana Overture" by Emil von Reznicek.

A really, truly, - and yes, quite lovely - piece by the incredibly versatile and wonderfully gifted Alfredo Rolando Ortiz.

This is a piece which he composed and performed on the Paraguyan harp, but, as he wrote himself, 'Milonga' is a style of music from Argentina. Wonderfully eclectic.

The piece is dedicated - with evident feeling - to his wife, and is called "Milonga Para Amar". ("Milonga For Loving". Wonderful).
