Chumbawamba - Wagner at the Opera.

I usually have the Chumbas playing non stop, such an under rated band.

Sort of in keeping with the flavour of the night, a spot of Cuban music at its sublime best, a few from the Buena Vista Social Club.

You had mentioned seeing them live once before, it must have been so great. I have the movie and some music... pale in comparison I suppose but great nonetheless.

Tonight I've switched to some tracks from assorted albums of the NYC electronica band Brazilian Girls. They're not Brazilian, and the sole female is vocalist Sabina Sciubba, who usually sings in French or English in the albums I have, but she's fluent in many languages (and has quite a solo career that goes far beyond singing).

The band offers music of various dance rhythms, including the occasional tango but nothing Brazilian, although maybe by now Sabina's made them honest Brazilians for a few tracks, who knows. I should check out their latest and find out. Their stuff is eclectic and so I'm a picker and chooser; Apple Music sure works for me with electronica in general and Brazilian Girls is no exception.

^^ Love the deep deep bass in "Narcissus is back" on that album.
Liz, I think the best songs on this album are: IT, Tilted, Paradis Perdus, Christine, Chaleur Humaine. Really worth listening to.

Cuban music! :D I am biased. ;)

It was. I'm pretty certain it was the summer of 2001 when I heard them play live.

Those guys were pretty elderly at the time, yet they played a great, enthusiastic concert and the music was just incredible, so cool, so smooth, so seemingly effortless, so bloody brilliant.

Yes, as am I. Sunshine music, and sublime music.

Some solo piano works by Claude Debussy...

Beautiful.
