My 64/4 tb is still sitting on 'Processing' with a delivery date of the 15th-22nd.
No pending charges on my card.
Anyone else not seeing any movement?
I've already been charged. Unfortunately, my MBP (same config as yours) has been moved to Zhengzhou which is purgatory for shipment:
Same with me - 16'' M1 Max 64GB 2TB without any movement. 16=Tue next week is ambitious whilst Nov 23 would be still doable. Funny that people dare to see their card being charged
Apple says Nov 22nd for me. UPS was initially at Nov 15th (this monday), but my MBP was moved to Zhengzhou and fingers crossed they will clear customs soon. I've read about people's MBP being there for an entire week, and some iPhone 13's being stuck there too. Saw a few posts say differently. We'll see ??
I canceled my order for a 16" M1 Max, 64 GB, 2 TB and decided to go with an 16" M1 Max 32 GB, 4 TB one. I do a lot of photo editing and video editing (but nothing outrageous) do you think this was a dumb move? Will 32 GB be enough RAM? Your thoughts Please!
Saw some great videos being posted on this thread especially ArtisRight's* MBP reviews.
I don't think it's a bad move to downgrade.
I got the 64GB model because I do 3D work, motion graphics, and some animation. I have 3D programs open with Photoshop opened at the same time to paint textures or UV map. Also render previews of 3D can take a bit of time.
With Photoshop, I do some photography once in awhile but my work is mainly as a designer illustrator. 1-3GB files that easily reach 100 layers so things like panning or using the smudge brush causes beach balls for me on my intel machine.
For whatever reason the smudge brush has always lagged for me on my mac, and it's difficult to work on digital illustrations with constant 1-2 second lags during zoom, pans, or smudge brushing. I think my use-case is different and I'm comfortable with the 64GB. It might be a tad bit overkill for me if it wasn't for 3D work or motion graphics.
I think the tough thing with the new M1 Pro/Max silicon is that, as helpful as everyone on the forums have been.... I like to test things out on my own, with my workflow, to make that decision. I think once I get my hands on my MBP, use it regularly, and push the limits for myself... I'll be able to tell for sure. So I went with the higher ram. I've never returned a MBP once I purchase, so I'll hang onto this for several years to come and I'm content with my decision. If in the future, I need to downgrade my ram on the next purchase, I'll definitely consider it. For this year's upgrade purchase, I'll stick with what I have ?
Especially considering how long the custom orders are taking to ship out. I've been waiting almost a month on my first order, and I seriously need a capable machine.... like yesterday lol
