Ordered MBP 16", M1 Max (GPU-32 core), 64 gig RAM, and 2TB SSD on October 20th.

Original estimated delivery was Nov 29 - Dec 6.

This morning I woke up and the new delivery estimation is Dec 15 - Dec 22, however the order has moved from Processing to Preparing to Ship, which is slightly frustrating because I'll probably be out of town when it arrives now, which is a world of issues. One, I had planned to take this machine with me in case I needed to remote into work during this trip, and two now I'm worried about them trying to deliver it to my apartment when I'm out of state!

I considered that I might be better off canceling and re-ordering next year once I'm back in town and have the luxury of time. But since it's Preparing to Ship now, I can't make changes or cancel.

But then also.. doesn't "preparing to ship" mean shipping is imminent? This is confusing since the delivery date is estimated to be nearly a month from now.

Your new delivery date is after mine but yours is preparing to ship. Nothing here.

Nope. You’ll have to re-order again after you cancel this order. A big decision to make
Finally I canceled and made a new order. I changed to silver and 32 GPU cores.

Now I have to wait until February 2nd. :(. In this case I chose store pickup, not sure if this will be better or worse, because the delivery dates were 6-8 weeks always.

At least I don't need it right now.

The exact same thing here has happened to mine! Ordered 16" Silver Max with 64GB and 1TB on the 21st October 2021 with expected delivery 30 Nov - 7 Dec. E-mail from Apple today saying it will arrive 10 Dec - 14 Dec now but has also now moved to Preparing to Ship ?. Credit card charged on 23rd November too.

You are not alone. I did the same thing three times and I chose silver like you did. At least some new updates will come out on the operating system that will help.

I turned on my iphone this morning and saw a message from the apple store saying they took out the money from my apple card account(Also says its pending and will get the 3 percent cash back, not sure if Im supposed to do that now or wait til the actual charge appears on my account)
So excited..I did NOT chat with apple yesterday so decided to wait til today to see what would happen and here we are..ya all dont think(I know Im super paranoid) that because I was chatting with apple like once a week asking about my order that they wont send me a new one right LOL ..I guess it will ship from China that is what I should be on the lookout for?

I have had a tracking number now since I think the 23rd and it hasn't popped up in UPS's system yet as valid. Im not bothered but I am wondering how long other peoples tracking numbers took to populate? For sure Apple is cranking as fast as they can with pre-rolled tracking numbers so there must be some backlog there getting them into the system.

My order was processing since Nov 2; replacement for a defective 16" delivered Nov 1, ordered Oct 18TH!

FINALLY got a "shipped" notification Nov 23, 12:39am. Like you, it was a nonvalid #. But this morning, I finally got this from UPS!! China is about 13hrs ahead of us. I'm EDT.
11/26/2021, 2:47 P.M translates to 11/25, 1:47 AM.

We'll see ... Good luck!!

My package was supposed to be delivered today according to Fedex tracking but it's been stuck on "International shipment release - Import" in Memphis since Wednesday. Doubt it will be delivered today

Order shipped Tuesday. Tracking still not in system on Saturday. It’s kinda funny. Not worried.

My card got charged today. But dates went from "Nov 30 - Dec 7" to "Dec 16 - Dec 23". ☹️
That doesn’t look promising. My ship date is still Dec 2-9. Hasn’t moved at all. Perhaps my card will charge in a few days and won’t be pushed back like yours. 16” Max 32/64/2 Silver.

Same specs as yours except Space Gray. Others have said their dates went up, then came back down. So I'm hoping that's the case for me as well.

So I was just charged my MacBook Pro. How long does it usually take to go to preparing to ship from this point? Thanks :)
