iMac 27" late 2012. It's still a beast of a machine (3.4MHz quad, 32 GB RAM). I had to replace the motherboard a couple of years ago and "rented" one of the latest macs as a replacement and it couldn't handle what this was capable of.

never had any trouble with my 2012 iMac until recently the plastic spring in the neck broke. so now the monitor tilts forward. Im using a superball wedged between the stand and the screen to prop it up.

My incoming base Max Studio with 2 TB SSD upgrade is replacing a 2013 Dell XPS Desktop...i7, 16GB, 256 GB SSD + 2X2TB HDs. Mostly runs well, but occasionally get some hiccups. May use the old Dell as a NAS.

2021 M1 iMac. I loved that computer but needed a bigger screen so I decided a Studio was in the cards as well.

I ordered a Studio Max w. 32 core GPU, 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD to replace my Mac Mini M1 (16Gb/1TB/10GBE), which will go to another family member to replace a Windows 11 box.

The Studio will probably also finally replace my old MP 5,1 (1x XE5680, 64GB RAM, MVC RX580, 1TB NVMe, running Monterey) as there are now no reasons for me to hang on to an intel Mac (all programs I need run on the M1 and with Monterey/Big Sur VMware Fusion no longer works on the MP 5,1 anyways).

2014 iMac (24GB) to Max (10/24/64GB) + ASD. It's a huge step up. My Emacs startup time went from six seconds to two. (Which doesn't matter in the slightest as Emacs stays running for months at a time but it is indicative of the type of speed bump I'm seeing with code compilation and that is a big deal [to me].) The 2014 will now replace a 2009 iMac that's felt a little long in the tooth for a while (but still functions flawlessly), so two wins!

Classic Mac Pro 5,1 with dual 3.02Ghz Xeon, 48GB of RAM, PCiE m2 SSD, other SSDs and an upgraded Radeon (flashed.)
I was trying to just live with my MacBook Pro M1 13" 16GB/2TB, but the resulting withdrawals were completely cured by an M1 Ultra.
Still use the MacBook, of course. I am thoroughly enjoying Universal Control with the two Macs and two iPads all surrounding me.

AMD 3900x 12 core, 64GB Ram with a 3060Ti GPU.
Mine is very similarly spec'd, but my Mac Studio arrives in June. If you already have yours, how is the performance compared with the AMD? I've had the AMD for the past 16 months and am pretty happy with the performance, it's Windows and all that stuff that I'd like to lose.

I ordered the Mac Studio and Studio Display about week after they were released. The Mac Studio arrived first and the Monitor arrived yesterday. This is a replacement for my 2015 27" iMAC. I, like many others, were hoping for a new 27" with the M1 chip, but that does not appear likely. The 24" maxes out at 16 gig of ram so it was not an option. I wanted to retain the 27" monitor and have enough ram to run Lightroom, Photoshop, and Luminar efficiently without straining. This does the trick.

For others making the transformation my migration took almost 13 hours. I had purchased a thunderbolt cable expressly for the purpose of accomplishing the migration more efficiently, but the thunderbolt 3 was not compatible with the thunderbolt port on the back of the 2015 27". I should have confirmed that before I started, so that is on me.

I am still trying things out and reinstalling some apps that need the license moved. I am 71 years old so this may be the last computer. Hope it is a good one! Good luck to everyone who bought this monster.

You need an Apple Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter for $50. They work well.

if you connect the Ethernet port from your Mac Studio to the one on your iMac, it automatically sets up a virtual network that you can use to transfer files fairly quickly. You have to have file sharing enabled on you iMac too.
