Why do so many people carry knives in the US?

It's bad enough here concealing knives but you guys openly carry knives. I mean, wow. Do you not ever feel unsafe in the knowledge that one of those guys with a knife is an *******, looking to cause trouble?

I don't know do you feel unsafe in the knowledge that one of those people driving the car next to you is an *******, wanting to cause trouble and can run you over?

why some people feel a need to lug around thousands of dollars worth of gear everywhere they go is beyond me

Maybe it's part of their work?

----------

Since I'm in school, I can't carry around that much BUT - usually during the day I will carry
my iPad 2 in it's leather case (it's a kikki K and I LOVE it, need iPad at school)
My Kikki K pencilcase (all of my pencils are in there)
Wallet (a.k.a. cash and student ID card)
Lanyard with USB and printing card
School Diary
and a variety of text books and notebooks.

On the weekends though -
iPhone 3G 8GB (this is very slow but only phone I really have)
iPod Touch 32GB Jailbroken (this is my main smallish iDevice and has all my apps and music on there and is running 5.1.1)
iPad as mentioned above (sometimes)
Pencilcase as mentioned above sometimes
Mints
Wallet
Headphones
Lipbalm

That's a bit of a douchebag analogy that I don't agree with.

But if I had to say something about your analogy would be: at least I have a car to fight back with and I can see the size of the car etc.

You should grab yourself a small portable DAC/amp like the Fiio E10 to go with that P5, would sound so much better guaranteed! :)

P.S.-I love foobar!!:D

This is typical gadget travel case if I am out of town for a week or so. The MBP usually comes along if I also bring a bag with DSLR equipment. Otherwise, it stays at home. (I left the flickr link since I have notes on what everything is)

Hope you don't mind me asking, but how do you like the Olympus OM-D and B&W P5?

OM-D has been a dream. Basically making me love taking pictures again. Just so much more versatile than other DSLRs I have owned (D40, D80, D200, D90). Touch screen makes changing settings fast and easy. Color rendition is amazing. Great size, fast, and the EVF is not bad. Everything feels natural on the camera. I move around with cameras quite a bit, but really like this guy. Lens is pretty versatile too 12-50mm which has a nice wide end. The lens has a manual AND electronic zoom function not to mention a macro mode that works pretty well.

P5 is pretty good for a closed headphone. Not as dynamic as I would like (I am a grado fan). However, the construction and styling make the headphones great on the go. Plus the are closed so great for a train or a noisy coffee shop.

the same reason people run their mouth, having only considered what the media has programmed them to consider?

no, must be a different reason.

Oh, wait, I know.

It's already been posted several times now.

the epicly deadly ................ laser pointer.

You can take down planes with that!!!1!!!!!!111!!

YOU GOT A LICENSE FOR THAT??

HUH??

WELL???

:D

Obviously the real question, the most critical question, here is: why serrated instead of smooth?

.........

Oh and I carry a knife when SCUBA diving. Using the deadly shoulder mount, quick release no less on the inflator hose (see below). Must be for decimating wildlife.

As there can't POSSIBLY be any other reason right?

It's a shared office, and I didn't realize it's a laser pointer!

The reason for serrated is to remove clothing (CPR), cutting seat belts if needed.

you know, it's shaped like a laser pointer .... but it might be a remote of some sort lol

no major concerns about the stiletto tip?

None so far. The main reason I got the knife is self defense, specifically if a suspect were to go after my duty gun. Using gun retention training with my strong hand, I'd use the knife in my weak hand to neutralize the threat.

Thankfully this hasn't been an issue, so general purpose use with the knife has been g2g.
