Ugh, the path by the brainsucker? :(

Yep, that is the right way. Ugh, I hate brain suckers too! There is a way around to kill him safely from behind a barricade. There is path from central courtyard to left of the forbidden woods way. There are a lot of enemies, mostly easy though, along this path. There is an important NPC to talk to, Arianna, chose wisely where to send her. Also a good armor set along this way, the black church set, worth going this way. If you follow this path all the way around, you will find yourself behind a barricade on other side of brain sucker. If you have long reach weapon, you can dispatch him relatively safely.

Reminds me, in forbidden woods, you will come across NPC suspicious beggar. Choose wisely how to deal with him too.

Thanks!

Just spent a few hours in the woods. Died a lot! :D Fecking boobie traps... Eventually opened the short cut gate in the windmill, so that's my achievement for the night! :)

Okay, finished the second part of the Woods, found the short cut elevator. Was NOT easy, I died two times. Managed to come out of there with 67k blood echoes and a boatload of twin shards! :) My kirkhammer and saw cleaver are both +6 now, ludwig's blade +5.

I loved killing the little snake piles with a charged up kirkhammer attack - like playing whack-a-mole! :D

Sidenote: I cannot remember the last time I fired a bullet. I always just dodge, attack, escape, even the bosses.

It's not just you! Aside from some initial experimentation way back in Yharnam, I think I completed the rest of the game without using a gun. Even in my NG+ I don't think I've fired a single bullet yet.

Got super 2d-imensionalized and bought me the old marios (also Lost Level - what a *****!) and Mega Man.

Never owned any Mega Man games, but I still remember how a friend lent me her Mega Man 2 cartridge for my NES when I was a (really) young lad and moved into the new apartment. First I thought I was just way too young for it but alas, if it weren't for the comfy save-system in the VC, I wouldn't really dig it just as well. Got stuck in one of the last levels so...

...got me MegaMan X (SNES) as well. Always read that it's an extremely good game, and it is! Graphics are fun too. Dunnno what it is, but I really dig a good Pixel-style. And Capcom were among the very best I guess. Not on the easy side as well though. Just when I thought I beat the first boss it just continued and now have to figure out how to get at the crazy lazer/bubble mecha at the end.. great game! Soundtrack is awesom too.

Whenever I read your updates I think I must dust off my copy and try again. Then when I do I promptly die and think I'll just wait for your status updates instead :) so keep playing - i'm completing bloodborne vicariously through you :)

Ha! Works for me. I just hope you are not in a rush to complete the game anytime soon! :D

Tried the Shadow a few more times today. One time I got them to phase 2 and nearly killed one of them... By far the hardest part of the game for me yet.

Decided to take a break from that and level up a little somewhere else. Made my way to the lecture hall and now Nightmare Frontier. Could also take another shot at the prison area and Dark Paarl Beast. We'll see!

Yeah, the Shadows are a pain. I ended up summoning someone to help.

In other news, the Uncharted collection should be waiting for me when I get home. I haven't played (or even seen) any of them but I've heard that they're good :)

Shadows are a pain indeed. While I don't use the gun much either, it is useful against certain enemies, and can be invaluable against the Shadows, who are especially vulnerable to parry.

While I usually play bloodborne in offline mode too, if you get really stuck, it's not a bad idea to summon help.

The key against the shadows is who to take out first. One recommended strategy is to take out the fireball/caster dude first, as he gets really hard when they level up after bringing their health down.

As for other areas, Nightmare Frontier is a bitch and way harder than the Shadows. Going after Paarl is a pretty good idea. While over in that area, grab Tonitrus. It's a great weapon, and will be helpful against the Shadows, who are vulnerable to Lightning damage. Bolt paper works well too.

Good luck.

Good news, MRU, we are making progress! ;)

Cleared out the entire prison area, got all the goodies and slaughtered the Dark Beast Paarl on the second try. It put up a pretty good fight though!

In the meantime I leveled up so much that I can one-hit-kill Mister Potato Sack with a charged up kirkhammer attack. Feeling pretty badass! :p

Gonna level up some more and collect some twin shards for my Tonitrus and then take on Shadow again...but not tonight, I am exhausted! :D

Excellent! Hypogean Gaol is an excellent farming spot if you can easily drop the Snatchers. They drop bolt paper, blood and twin-blood stone shards, and a single run can net something like 12k blood echos. As you farm and level up, practice your gun parry skills, that will help you more than anything against the Shadows. When you do take them on, try different order of which you take out first, and don't forget to use the terrain for cover.

I'm up to level 5 (and am at work for the rest of the day). I've enjoyed it so far though!

Uncharted series is one I really want to play. It's going to have a wait a bit though until I clear my backlog.

So is anyone going to play Star Wars Battlefront Beta this weekend? Beta runs 8th-12th and is open to everyone. While multiplayer FPS is usually not my bag, this is frickin' STAR WARS so I gotta give it a try. :) I'm busy most of the weekend, but will hopefully squeeze in a few hours of play.

Lost Levels were fantastic! A friend and I fought our way through this beast and eventually beat it. We played through one of the Mega Mans, too. I think it was Mega Man 2. Tough!!

Apparently I'm a sucker for games with a punishing difficulty! :D

You guys are really making me want to play Uncharted again. How will I ever make a dent on my backlog if I keep replaying old games!? :)

Yeah that's my excuse for not picking it up. So many games I've barely played since purchasing that it's hard to justify picking it up as I did finish all three. Yet still I want to ????

More Bloodborne stuff:

In the forbidden forest, if you keep left after the dog kennels, there is a path that leads to a big cave full of toxic water with some giants roaming around and tentacle monsters lurking in the water. Is that area worth the effort? Anything exciting I would miss if I skip it?
